Chapter 806: An Entertaining Outcome

Beside Jason, the Head of the Northern Solstice Magic Academy, who had also been a candidate to become Overlord, had a look of shock on his face as he stared at the Aqualith in Jason’s hand! Just like T’arigan, the Head of the Academy also understood just how important that stone was! If Jason had a trump card like this all this time, then they never truly stood a chance!

"Is what yer saying true, Jason Marc! This is a matter of great importance! If yer lying to us about this, then yer gonna face grave consequences!" 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

T’arigan spoke up loudly, and he stared at Jason with intensity to try and find out if Jason was saying the truth or not, and Jason just smiled at him calmly and nodded once in response. But obviously, Jason was lying! Jason knew that the entire reason why Aqualith was such a precious stone was because of its rarity! So if Jason had told the council how much of the stone he actually had in his possession, then there was a chance he would not be able to make as much money from it without drawing enemies! So Jason had told the council an amount that seemed significant, but not so significant that it would affect how much he sold the Aqualith in the future! In truth, Jason had so much more!

T’arigan’s breath turned shallow, and he sat down while putting his head in his hands! At that moment, T’arigan was happier than ever that he had chosen to be on Jason’s side! This discovery changes everything!

Jason could see the obvious excitement on T’arigan’s face, and Jason smiled as he turned to the rest of the council and spoke up once again.

"The deposit of Aqualith is the possession of Earth, and we are not against going into trade deals with the worlds parallel to us. As for worlds outside our domain, it will be a lot harder for us to take them into consideration due to obvious reasons. But since it is necessary to take care of those who are close to you, Earth will be open to striking favourable deals with worlds from parallel domains who are prepared to extend a hand of friendship to us and become allies. I hope you understand."

It was the most subtle threat that anyone on the council had ever heard, and even though threatening the council would be seen as a serious crime at any other moment, there wasn’t a single person on the council who dared to speak up against it! The council members all looked amongst themselves with a similar expression lurking behind their eyes, and Jason’s smile widened when he recognized what the look was. Greed! The discovery of this stone was an unprecedented matter, and none of them could have predicted it, but there wasn’t a single person who wanted to miss out on the abundant wealth they could gain from trading the stone to various worlds in their Domain! Jason’s words right now were friendly, and he said it with a smile, but it was obvious that he had laid out the conditions for how things would go in the future! Anyone who didn’t ally themselves with him and Earth would miss out on the trade deals!

The silence in the hall stretched on for a few more seconds before Hesabeth suddenly threw her head back and laughed in pure amusement! The other council members looked towards Hesabeth in confusion, and none of them could understand why she was laughing so much! But Hesabeth couldn’t stop her amusement from pouring out uncontrollably! Hesabeth couldn’t believe that Jason had a trump card like this under his sleeve all this time! Jason had already told Hesabeth and Gina that he had a way to make sure the council allied themselves with him, but Hesabeth could have never guessed that his secret method included something so extraordinary! And the fact that Jason had waited until just the right moment to show his card like this amused Hesbeth even more! The looks on the faces of the other council members were sending her into absolute hysterics! So this was the man that Hesabeth had chosen as her husband! An absolute strategic monster!

Hesabeth waved her fan towards the council members who were staring at her and told them to not concern themselves with the reason for her amusement, and the council just watched as Hesabeth turned back to Jason with the largest smile they had ever seen her show anyone! Hesbeth’s eyes were soft and caring, like a woman who was gazing upon the love of her life, and when Hesabeth spoke, it came out in a calm tone that echoed through the hall pleasantly.

"I believe the evidence provided here today is more than enough proof of who is the best candidate to take the seat of Overlord of the Sixth Domain. Honestly, I knew this would be the outcome from the start, but I didn’t think it would happen due to something so entertaining. Hahaha~ I haven’t been so amused in centuries. I, Queen Hesbeth, Seventh Seat on the Council of Nine and One, and the Queen of the Minori, nominate Jason Marc of Earth as the most suitable candidate to occupy the seat of Overlord of the Sixth Domain. I am sure he will do great things in the future."

Jason gave Hesabeth a kind smile when he heard what Hesabeth said, and Hesabeth’s cheeks reddened slightly when she saw Jason smiling at her! Hesabeth quickly covered her lower face with her fan to hide her blush, and Jason nodded to Hesabeth in thanks before he turned as Farlow spoke up from the side!

"I, King Farlow, Third Seat on the Council of Nine and One, and King of Arandelle, nominate Jason Marc as the most suitable candidate for the position of Overlord of the Sixth Domain. I see no reason why we should not, after all."

Farlow’s words were a lot more serious than Hesabeth’s, and Farlow spoke without bothering to smile. But Jason could still hear the hidden smile in Farlow’s tone, and Jason knew that Farlow only sounded so strict because of his stuck-up personality! Jason just chuckled in mild amusement as he nodded to Farlow in thanks, and Jason turned as another member of the council quickly gave their support as well! This time, it was T’arigan, the leader of the dwarven race, and Jason had never seen anyone look so enthusiastic as they nominated him for the position of Overlord!

As time passed, more and more members began to give their nominations as well. The first person outside Jason’s three main supporters was Lamina. Since Jason had already put forward so much proof that he was the best candidate for this job, Lamina no longer needed to show Diane any support, since the council would no longer see it as favoritism. So Lamina simply raised her hand and nominated Jason as Overlord. After Lamaina, the next person to give their support was Kalum, the ruler of Getrine and the ninth seat on the council. And once Kalum gave his support, it became easy for Val’kat, the ruler of the goblins and the fifth seat on the council, to give his support as well! As a goblin, Val’kat was a greedy creature that understood the worth of money more than anyone else on this council, and Jason already knew that Val’kat would easily turn his back on the other candidates once he saw that he could make more money from Jason!

Baron Skarr was one of the council members who held out for the longest, and Jason could see the intense conflict on the man’s face as he tried to balance his duty with his greed.
