STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer
Chapter 868: A Private Discussion
5th Zone-City A
2 days later,
The four City Lords left the city. Governors Martin and Orion sent them off. They were happy that the crisis was resolved. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
It was a pity that the deaths of Governor Leon and Head Robert Hill were not avenged. The Tier-9 Black Centipede was injured severely but was not dead.
Martin and Orion were slightly disappointed. But they couldn’t demand revenge from the Lords. The lords of the human alliance would only look at the big picture.
They wouldn’t take risks for a Governor. When the lords left the place, Martin and Orion started doing their administration work.
They had received help from other zones during the crisis. They needed to properly thank them. Their resources would help them build the human settlements.
Time passed,
The locals slowly and steadily returned to their families from the basements. All the piled-up rations were redistributed.
The Head of the Beast Taming Forces started taking note of the casualties. Earlier, they didn’t have time to address the matter.
Now they were going to compensate the victims’ families. They were going to recruit one Beast Tamer from each victim’s family.
Similar things were happening in other forces as well.
...
Red Moon Chamber
Head Harold was on a phone call with Head Neil Moon. He was recounting things from the beginning. Thanks to the Lords from the Human Alliance, the city was saved again.
Head Harold didn’t hide Jeremy Night’s contribution. He told Neil Moon that Jeremy Night’s footage evidence had provided clarity to the Governors.
Then they had made the right decision. Head Neil Moon was happy to hear this. He understood that they were still underestimating the kid’s potential.
Apart from his talent, that kid’s intelligence needed to be praised as well. He took a risk despite being only a Tier-3 Beast Tamer.
Head Harold said, "I think the kid should be in the top three zones. If he were in the top three zones, he could get more resources."
"I feel guilty. The kid is doing more than enough for a Tier-3 Beast Tamer," he added.
On the other side of the call, Head Neil Moon was silent. Every time the kid surprised them, it made them feel guilty. The resources given to the kid were not enough.
Jeremy Night deserved more resources.
"Do you know a way to send the kid to the top three zones?" Head Harold asked.
He couldn’t believe he was really doing this. But he was thinking about the well-being of Jeremy Night.
"There is only one way. Let him join the Beast Taming Association," Neil Moon replied.
Hearing that, there was a brief silence. Nobody wanted to do that. Jeremy Night could be the next generation leader who could develop the Red Moon Chamber.
Because there was no actual successor for the organization, Jeremy Night could be selected. But they didn’t want to force their decision on him.
But under the current situation, it was not easy to enter the top three zones. It was hard to get a residence permit unless they were part of the big forces.
Only the Central University and the Beast Taming Association had branches in all zones. If he became an official member of the Beast Taming Association, then he could get more perks.
The powerful Beast Tamers got internally promoted.
"Let’s not rush into making a decision. We don’t know what that kid is thinking right now. Besides, the top 3 zones are different and dangerous."
"Tier-3 strength is still low. He needs to become a Tier-4 Beast Tamer at least. Otherwise, no one will recruit a Tier-3 Beast Tamer easily," Head Neil Moon replied after some consideration.
Even if they decided to send Jeremy Night away, his strength was too low to survive there. There were threats from the corrupted beasts, but there were even more threats from humans as well.
In the end, they decided to postpone the matter. If Jeremy Night became a Tier-4 Beast Tamer, then they would discuss it.
...
Meanwhile,
Jeremy Night had been following his daily schedule. At the same time, he was waiting for the call from Head Harold.
The Governors had promised to reward him. He didn’t know when that would happen.
That evening,
He came out of the building to take a walk around the back garden. He was joined by Sister Melinda. He found a change in her.
She was not bright and enthusiastic anymore. Right now, she seems more serious. It was as if she was ready to go to the battlefield at any time.
Jeremy sighed inwardly. The death of the team members had impacted her. He was not close to any team to begin with, so it didn’t affect him.
But it was a different matter for her.
"You participated in the special mission. Your strength is growing day by day. It won’t be long before you become a Tier-4 Beast Tamer."
"Then you can slay even higher-tier beasts," she said.
Hearing that, Jeremy Night smiled. But he didn’t deny it. Then they started talking about other things.
She then said, "I heard the Hill Family, which was troubling you, faced a disaster. Both the Family Head and his son are dead."
Jeremy Night was taken aback. He looked at her.
Melinda smiled and said, "Head Harold told me everything. He told me to keep an eye on you. But I think there is no need for that anymore."
Jeremy nodded his head in understanding. Both of them took a walk along the footpath. This was seen by other members.
They came to know about the special mission as well. They were shocked. They didn’t expect the strength of the newcomer to be so high.
If he was recruited for the special mission, then he was hiding his true capabilities. They hadn’t known about it.
Earlier, those who made fun of Jeremy Night were now changing their minds.
Even the elders in the organization had changed their opinion of Jeremy Night. They had seen Jeremy Night participate in battles before, and he had done well in those battles.
Now he has completed a special mission. They started looking at him differently. Jeremy Night didn’t know about it. He had long since stopped paying attention to the outside noise.
