STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer
Chapter 819: Part 1: Deadly Ridge
Wilderness
The Tier-5 Wild Cat continued to observe from a distance. The beast was intelligent.
It saw that the strong enemy was unable to spot her while running, whereas the weaker prey was able to spot it accurately.
It scared the sh!t out of the black cat. It had perfect senses. They were giving a warning not to engage the target.
After circling a few rounds, the cat beast disappeared into the woods. In the blink of an eye, the cat beast escaped into the wilderness.
Jeremy Night and Melinda were left stunned. They were both ready to fight against the beast. Especially Melinda, who was already planning to make a move.
But she didn’t expect the beast to run away. Then her eyes glinted with understanding. She turned towards Jeremy Night.
She watched him and said, "Among the corrupted beasts, the cat-type beasts are intelligent. It must have sensed something off about you."
"You may appear to be a Tier-3 Beast Tamer on the outside, but you can fight across Tiers. You have the strength to inflict damage to the Tier-5 Cat beast," she added.
Hearing that, Jeremy was surprised. He didn’t know what to say. He found out that her mood was better now.
But he knew why the cat beast perhaps left. He was able to spot the cat beast and looked into its eyes while the beast was circling around.
It must have sent a cold shiver down the beast’s spine.
"What do we do now?" Jeremy asked.
"Since the path is cleared, we should proceed towards the Deadly Ridge. We might reach that place before night."
"So you have to keep the pace with me," Melinda said in a serious tone.
Hearing that, Jeremy Night was happy. If she was interested in this mission, it was a good thing. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
"Okay," Jeremy replied.
Then he started following her from behind. At the same time, his eye power was active.
His wide vision was scanning the surroundings. If any corrupted beasts or Beast Tamers appeared, he would know.
Meanwhile, the team sent by the Beast Taming Hill Family was getting closer to the targets. But they haven’t spotted them yet. It was making the team a little frustrated.
On the other hand, the team sent by the Darkshade Organization was approaching even faster. The team was composed of Tier-6 and Tier-7 Beast Tamers.
They were using their Lifeline beasts to scan the place. It appeared they would reach the target location before the first team.
Time passed.
That evening, Melinda and Jeremy Night reached the Deadly Ridge. They were standing at the bottom.
Jeremy’s gaze fell on the narrow hilltop. The place ahead was filled with plants of unknown origin. Most of them were black in color.
A hint of surprise flashed in Jeremy Night’s eyes. He had not seen such a strange place before. Melinda watched the place.
She was familiar with it, but the problem was she had come here a long time ago. During her Tier-4 strength days, she had done a mission here. She knew how dangerous this place was.
A simple-looking plant of unknown origin could kill a Tier-5 Beast Tamer or Tier-4 Corrupted Beast easily.
"Follow my footsteps. Don’t touch or disturb any plants here. Most of them are poisonous," Melinda said to Jeremy Night.
"Okay," Jeremy replied.
Melinda then looked ahead to the hilltop. She was looking for a pathway to the top. There used to be one, but she thought the pathway was gone.
The plants and vegetation might have occupied it. She then took out a knife and started clearing out the pathway ahead.
Jeremy Night took small steps behind her. He could see that she was making a way forward. He wanted to use his katana to clear the way, but he thought the plants could be dangerous.
He didn’t want to take the risk. He liked to take the advice of Sister Melinda.
Meanwhile, the three Tier-7 Beast Tamers were hiding in secret. They were watching over the Deadly Ridge.
They didn’t expect the two members to arrive. These elders recognized the two people. They knew Melinda, who was a long-time member.
They had watched her grow and progress in the organization.
Then they saw the young man who had joined the organization not long ago. They knew he had been popular recently.
The young man had joined as a Tier-2 Beast Tamer, but he was able to become a Tier-3 Beast Tamer in a short period of time.
The elders were surprised by these people’s presence. They continued to watch over the place. They knew Elder Harold was right.
The Beast Tamers from their organization might be coming here. They needed to be here for their safety, in case higher-tier beasts appeared.
Right then, the team sent by the Darkshade members reached the place. By this time, they knew about the location.
A Tier-7 Beast Tamer and five Tier-6 Beast Tamers in the team knew about the Deadly Ridge. But they were not afraid.
The Deadly Ridge plants were dangerous for people of Tier-5 strength and below. For Tier-6 and above Beast Tamers, it was not a problem at all.
Just as they were getting closer to the bottom, the Tier-7 Beast Tamer stopped all of a sudden. Seeing that, the Tier-6 Beast Tamers behind him paused their footsteps as well.
The Tier-7 Beast Tamer was an old man. He felt someone had just looked at him. But he looked around and found no one.
The old man frowned because the feeling was not wrong. He did feel a gaze.
The gaze was not shy at all. He was a Tier-7 Beast Tamer, yet the person behind the gaze was not afraid.
The Tier-6 Beast Tamers all had questioning gazes. They didn’t know what was going on, but they were all familiar with the place.
They knew about the Deadly Ridge. They had done missions there during their Tier-4 and Tier-5 days.
It had been some time since they had been to this place. The Tier-6 Beast Tamers were discussing the Deadly Ridge. Only the old man was observing the surroundings.
Meanwhile, the three elders saw the old man and his team members as well.
They were confused and surprised because this place was of no use to Tier-6 and Tier-7 Beast Tamers for doing missions.
