"Wow, Ye Chen is so rich!" Zhang Rui exclaimed, her mouth wide open in surprise.

Previously, she heard from Song Xiaoxiao that Ye Chen was just a delivery guy. How could he possibly have so much money?

"Well, he’s alright, I guess." Song Xiaoxiao replied modestly.

"Xiaoxiao, could it be that Ye Chen is actually someone high up in the company? Maybe he lied to you about being a delivery man to test you." Liu Xin speculated as a thought crossed her mind.

Song Xiaoxiao wasn’t concerned at all about what Ye Chen did for a living. She loved Ye Chen as a person, not his money.

After getting home, Ye Chen took a shower, lay on the bed, and drifted off to sleep.

Suddenly, his phone rang, startling Ye Chen and waking him from his dream.

He glanced at it and saw it was Zhou Susu calling. Why would this girl call him so late at night?

Ye Chen had helped this young policewoman solve a few cases before, and in gratitude, she had even treated him to dinner.

Answering the call, Ye Chen chuckled and said, "Chief Zhou, what instructions do you have so late at night?"

"Ye Chen, I do have something to talk to you about," Zhou Susu replied.

Ye Chen knew that whenever Zhou Susu called, it was most likely case-related, and he was curious.

He hadn’t been involved in any cases for a long time and was a bit eager to jump back in.

"Oh, is it about a case?" Ye Chen hurriedly asked.

"How did you know?" Zhou Susu said with a surprised expression.

Ye Chen was speechless. Zhou Susu and Su Wanyi were quite similar, both workaholics who could go days and nights without going home to solve a case.

And she hadn’t contacted him for such a long time, obviously because of work.

Now, suddenly calling him and speaking so urgently, it was clear it was case-related.

"Of course I know, because you’re my woman," Ye Chen replied with a smile.

"Oh, stop it! Who wants to be your woman anyway? You already have so many around you, I don’t want to compete with them," Zhou Susu said with a blush.

Ye Chen was quite helpless with this girl.

"Alright, let’s get serious," Ye Chen shifted the topic.

"Ye Chen, do you have time tomorrow?" Zhou Susu suddenly asked.

Ye Chen thought to himself, what is this girl up to? Did she call just to ask if he was free tomorrow?

"Since you’re calling, Chief Zhou, even if I don’t have time, I’ll make time," Ye Chen replied with a laugh.

"Cut it out with the smooth talk. I know you too well. How about this, come to the police station at 9 a.m. tomorrow, and we’ll talk in person," Zhou Susu said.

"Alright then, see you at the police station tomorrow," Ye Chen said and ended the call.

He knew Zhou Susu hadn’t mentioned it over the phone because it was inconvenient and many cases are confidential.

Strangely, that night, Ye Chen dreamed about helping Zhou Susu solve cases.

He got out of bed, went into the bathroom to freshen up, and grabbed a quick bite to eat.

After getting dressed, he left the house and drove toward the police station.

Arriving at the station, he saw it was almost nine o’clock.

Ye Chen walked towards the station but did not see Zhou Susu anywhere.

"Chief Zhou, are you sleeping in? I’m at the station already," Ye Chen said into the phone.

"I wish I could sleep in. I barely slept yesterday. Just wait a moment, I’ll be back soon," Zhou Susu sighed and said.

Hearing this, Ye Chen thought Zhou Susu really was quite the hard worker.

A little while later, Zhou Susu dragged her tired body in from outside.

Ye Chen looked at the girl in front of him in disbelief.

"Ye Chen, don’t you recognize me so quickly?" Zhou Susu asked Ye Chen, displeased.

"How could I not? I just think you’ve gotten prettier," Ye Chen complimented.

"Oh, stop it. If you don’t recognize me, just admit it. No need to pretend," Zhou Susu said bluntly.

Ye Chen did feel the girl before him was somewhat unfamiliar, mainly because Zhou Susu’s changes were so significant. She had endured a lot, making her seem very different.

"Alright, alright, Chief Zhou, you’re really eloquent. I can’t keep up with you," Ye Chen said, shaking his head helplessly.

Zhou Susu didn’t continue bantering with Ye Chen but said to him, "Ye Chen, let’s go to my office."

Actually, another male cop had come in with Zhou Susu. He stood quietly listening to Ye Chen and Zhou Susu’s conversation.

From their chat, the male cop could tell this man and woman had an unusual relationship, which made him a bit angry.

The male cop was named Yang Wei, Zhou Susu’s partner, and one of the men who admired her.

Since Zhou Susu started at the station, they’d been partners, and quite some time had passed.

Even though they were work partners and he had confessed to Zhou Susu, she had heartlessly rejected him.

Zhou Susu told him her standard for a boyfriend was that he couldn’t be in the same profession.

To put it bluntly, Zhou Susu’s boyfriend would never be a cop.

Even so, the man didn’t give up on pursuing Zhou Susu, often confessing his feelings only to be harshly turned down by her.

"Susu, who is this guy?" Yang Wei asked, looking at Ye Chen.

"This is my boyfriend, Ye Chen," Zhou Susu said with a smile.

"When did you get a boyfriend? How come I didn’t know?" Yang Wei looked at Zhou Susu in shock.

"Yang Wei, I have no obligation to report my boyfriend matters to you, do I?" Zhou Susu replied coldly.

"But you’re always so busy working at the station. How could you have a boyfriend? Susu, I know you’re trying to reject me, but you didn’t need to find a guy to break my heart," Yang Wei said, full of self-pity.

Zhou Susu felt at a loss with Yang Wei, thinking, "With cases unsolved, I don’t even have time to get a guy to act in front of Yang Wei."

"Yang Wei, you’re overthinking. Also, from now on, do not call me Susu. Call me by my name," Zhou Susu said with an annoyed expression.

"Are you really Susu’s boyfriend?" Yang Wei asked, looking at Ye Chen.

"Susu has already made it very clear. I am indeed her boyfriend," Ye Chen responded candidly.

Though he sympathized with Yang Wei and knew Yang Wei cared for Zhou Susu, he still couldn’t help but tell the truth.

After all, deceiving an infatuated man was somewhat unethical.
