SSS-Rank Extraction: I Can Absorb Prefixes from Gods
Chapter 9: Prefix Extraction 2
’What’s... this?’ Amon asked no one in particular.
Since his teammates were engaged in battling the harmless creatures, Amon had the time to explore his talent.
’I thought I’d need to acquire magic power or something to use my talent.’
The reason Amon hadnt tried using his talent was because, according to waht he heard, everyone needed mana, which was sometimes called magic power, to be able to use their talents.
He didnt have the magic power stats, he thought he would have to acquire it in some way, hence the reason he didnt try activating it at all.
Now however...
As Amon glanced at the line of words hovering above everyone’s head, a pop-up message from the system screen apeared in his line of sight.
[Ding! Detected a prefix, do you wish to extract?]
’Yes,’ Amon thought without hesitation.
Instantly, a new system screen apeared before him.
[please choose the prefix you want to extract.]
[1. Sharp]
[2. Slow.]
[3. Slow]
[4. Extremely.]
[5. High.]
[6. Defense.]
...
The prefixes continued extending for a while, encompassing all the creatures present.
’What... sort of talent is this?’ Amon thought in confusion.
After some deliberation, he decided to just extract anyway.
’System, extract the sharp prefix.’
[Sharp prefix Extracted. Please designate a target for the extracted prefix.]
Just as Amon was about to reply to the system’s information, a disturbance interrupted him.
"What’s going on?" a loud voice filled with confusion and terror echoed.
Amon glanced at the location of the commotion and noticed dominion’s blade clashing against the boar.
However, contrary to the sharp ’clang’ he had heard initially, this time, he only dull thud as the blade collided against the boar.
"How did it suddenly become so blunt?" as time passed, Dominion grew increasingly confused his blade continuously striking against the boar all to no avail.
Deciding to use a skill, he shifted slightly, then a streak of red light blosomed at teh tip of his sword.
Ding! 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
The blade collided against the boar but it barely left any scratches.
"What the hell?!" Dominion gasped in shock, surprised that his blade barely left any scratches.
One had to know that this was an F-rank skill with more than 20 damage power.
Damage power was far different from Attack power.
Attack power could chip at a beast’s health points, while damage power could chip at a beast’s defenses. No matter how strong the tusk boar’s defenses was, Dominion felt his using the skill should have at least brought about a light wound if not a deep gash.
But... it brought... nothing but a scratch?
Dominion was confused but quickly regain his composure, understanding that there might be a problem with his weapon.
"Does anyone have a sword?" his loud voice spread through out the clearing as he tossed away the one his hand, getting it stuck into a tree.
"Here..." luckily, Rivernight who was close to him had one, and quickly tossed it his way, although it was far shorter, it was still usable.
Amon watched everything play out, his eyes widening with every passing second.
Initially, he was confused, but as time passed he gradually understood that it was because he had extracted the ’Sharp’ prefix from the sword that it lost a great deal of it’s damage power.
’That’s my... talent?’ Amon felt it was a little absurd.
Everything had prefixes... traits... descriptions to them.
And he could extract them all...
’And reasign them somewhere else?’ amon’s gaze returned back to the system screen which was blinking at him.
[Sharp prefix Extracted. Please designate a target for the extracted prefix.]
Amon pondered briefly, then said in his heart.
’I choose the sword.’
[Please come in physical contact with the object you wish to designate extracted prefix.]
The system screen blinked to life.
Amon glanced around and spotted the sword embedded into a tree that was coincidentally nearby.
He hesitated for only a moment before briskly aproaching the tree.
While everyone was distracted with the fight which was starting to get intense, he gripped the sword tightly and pulled it out.
’System, asign the Prefix to the object.’
[Ding! Prefix assigned!]
[Do you wish to extract Prefixes?]
The system displayed the previous Prefixes which it had displayed.
Amon’s gaze lingered for a bit before he selected another one.
’I want to extract the ’high’ prefix.’
[ding! Congratulations, Extraction failed, please select another Prefix.]
Amon noticed that as the extraction failed, it grayed out in the real world, and vanished from the system screen.
Amon’s lips twitched.
’I knew this was coming.’
He didnt let it get to him.
There were so many prefix. So countless that he could barely count, losing one didn’t matter.
’Extract ’extremely’
[Extremely prefix Extracted. Please designate a target for the extracted prefix.]
Amon’s gaze immediately shifted to the sword in his hand.
’Assign the prefix to the sword.’
[Ding! Prefix assigned!]
[Do you wish to extract Prefixes?]
Perhaps it was his misconception, but Amon noticed that the sword seemed to emit a sharper glow, and the sharpness at it’s edges seemed enhanced to a great extent.
’So the prefixes can be stacked?’ seeing this a light lit up in Amon’s mind.
’System, extract the ’swift’ prefix from the warrior.’
[ding! Congratulations, Extraction failed, please select another Prefix.]
Amon’s lips twitched, but he didn’t give up.
’Extract strong’
[ding! Congratulations, Extraction failed, please select another Prefix.]
’Extract agile.’
[Agile prefix Extracted. Please designate a target for the extracted prefix.]
A grin finally appeared at the corner of Amon’s lips.
’Perfect...’ he smiled to himself.
’Assign it to the sword.’
[Ding! Prefix assigned!]
[Do you wish to extract Prefixes?]
’Extract extremely.’
[Extremely prefix Extracted. Please designate a target for the extracted prefix.]
’Assign it to the sword.’
[Ding! Prefix assigned!]
[Please note that due to the low rank of the talent, more prefix is unable to be assigned.]
Amon read the notification, but it wasn’t too disappointment.
It seemed 4 prefixes was the limit to a common rank sword.
’In that case...’
Amon shifted his attention to the tusk boars...
He wanted to test just how much change the prefixes he had added brought to the common grade sword.
Shing!
An ear-splitting cry echoed, then a new line of words apeared in amon’s line of sight.
[Ding! Congratulations! You Have killed A Tusk boar. Gained 20 Exp. Do You wish to extract?]
’Extract...’ amon said internally and closed the system panel, not paying much attention to it.
Meanwhile, the sharp, ear piercing cry o fthe sword drew the attention of everyone who turned to look in the direction.
Then, they say Amon, standing casually, and wiping his hand on the body of the tusk boar which lay beneath it’s feet.
It’s head was severed, rolling on the ground before coming to a stop.
A dumbfounded look of shock appeared on everyone’s faces as they glanced at him.
"What’s..." just before dominion could say another word.
Another ear-piercing cry echoed.
A tusk boar which casually strode towards Amon was split in two once more, before their very eyes.
