SSS Awakening: Starting With Infinite Soul Copy
Chapter 187: Zisel, an Homo Aetherius (II)
"My eyes... they focus on everything."
She explained, while looking up.
"Like right now, one of my eyes is looking at your right eye, another is counting the dark dots that space your blue eyes, finding a total of twenty-six of them."
"Another is looking at your horns, noticing the extra smoothness of it, while another noticed the jaggedness at the end of it."
"All of those things I mentioned are only four, and I have twelve alone in my right arm."
She mentioned as White’s spine chilled.
"Now, to me, there’s no such thing as useless information. All of it is forced into my mind all at once and it’s forced to process them."
"If I take a walk around in the night, when the morning comes..."
"You’ll be mentally exhausted from all of the processing."
White completed.
"Basically."
She said.
"Must be hard living with that many eyes."
He consoled, but she shook her head.
"Not really, and that’s the human superpower."
"Situations might appear ridiculous at first, but the more time we spend in it, the more we get used to it and one day, it’s all just another Tuesday."
"I’m too used to this now, so there’s no pain at all, or anything like that."
She said, and he nodded.
That made a lot of sense.
"There’s a scale stuck deep in your chest, by the way."
She said as White paused.
"It holds a remnant of Supernal aura that is slowing down your regeneration. If you can get it out, you should heal up faster."
She said as White turned to his chest.
There was indeed a scar on it, but it was already almost closed up by now.
[She’s right, though I reckon it will eventually die out with time.]
’How much time?’
White asked.
[3 days. You couldn’t have pulled it out, so what’s the point in telling you?]
The system said.
’You should have told me about that.’
[You couldn’t pull it out even if you knew anyway. What’s the point?]
"I can get it if you want."
She suddenly said as White’s brow creased, finding a panel prepared.
[Ask her how?]
"And how would you do that? It’s in my chest, remember."
"I can pull it out. My hands have eyes... they’re pretty precise."
She said, sitting up and staring at him.
[I wouldn’t trust her hands being so close to your chest... which also makes it centimeters away from your heart, by the way.]
The system panel flashed.
"Won’t your hands get stained in my blood?"
He asked and she pointed to the side, where a pack of water bottles lay.
"There’s some water..."
She said and White sat up.
"Then, please..."
’Hey system, Activate Zero Crown.’
White said.
A ripple of blue surged forward through the ground, but White was able to restrict the zone until it was right within his body.
"Resume lying on your back."
She said, and he fell onto his back once more.
Her hands hovered inches away from his chest, a bit of hesitation in them, and a red blush at her cheeks when she looked at him.
"I can close my eyes, if you want."
White said, as she shook with constrained laughter.
"It’s fine."
She said, and in the next moment, her finger touched the wound.
They were cold to his skin... her hands, reminding him of Nova.
’He’s warm.’
The thought occurred to Zisel, who refocused, slowly piercing her hands down.
As her hands moved down, White shifted the zone of blocking down inches from her fingers, allowing them in.
If her hands suddenly moved any other area, say to his heart, it would slam into the barrier unable to move.
"Do you not feel pain?"
She asked, looking at White whose expression didn’t change whatsoever even with her fingers half dipped into him.
"I’m just pretending to be tough."
He answered, and her purple eyes rolled.
Her hand-eyes reached further down until her wrists were in him, and then it paused, as White felt something metallic in him get grabbed.
"I’ve grabbed it. I’ll pull it out now."
She said to him and quietly, her hands began moving out.
What she brought out was indeed a scale.
A familiar scale of the Magzilla.
"You were the one who fought the Magzilla?"
She asked, looking at the scale.
"Or maybe one of its scales just got sent flying into my chest. The explosions were quite wild, you know?"
He said.
"You don’t lie, but you also don’t speak the full truth at the same time. That’s interesting."
She said, passing the scale into his hands before moving to the side and grabbing a water bottle.
White could almost feel the change instantly, his body returning back into the wound which began to rapidly close.
Now, she’d reduced his three days of pain to a couple hours.
Looking at the scale though, a thought couldn’t help but appear in his head and he asked,
’Hey system.’
[Yes.]
’Can I copy that Magzilla’s soul?’
[What? You’re thinking of copying Supernatural creatures now?]
The system asked, as he shook his head.
’No, no. I’m just thinking, the Magzilla was fifteen meters and looked so fearsome. It’d be cool if I can be that huge and scary, don’t you think?’
He asked.
[According to the definitions of the Awakener Soul Copy, it says awakeners, not Supernaturals.]
’Got it.’
[Maybe as it levels up, the definition would expand and the awakener limitation would be out.]
The system flashed, and White shrugged.
He didn’t care that much. Copying awakeners was good enough.
Even though the Magzilla appeared fearsome, White was still able to punch its head off with the Demon Engine Awakening he had copied from Zion.
Humans’ awakenings were still the most powerful in the end.
’Why does the Awakening Soul never show?’
’I’ve got like twelve or so Ability Upgrade Cards now, and yet, it doesn’t appear on my skills and abilities panel for me to upgrade it.’
He noted.
[Yes. It’s not a manually upgradeable skill. Don’t ask me how, that’s just how the system is programmed.]
"The system? But... you’re the system, right?"
