SSS Awakening: Starting With Infinite Soul Copy
Chapter 173: Deeper Believes
"We both know that’s just imagination."
She replied with a smile that said get real, but all it did was make White smile in return.
"I bet if you walked up to humans back in 2000, before the descent of the Supernaturals, and told them there would come a day when a human being would be able to snap his fingers and someone’s head would come rolling off by some mysterious force, they would probably tie you to a cross for being a madman and have you nailed to death."
He said as her smile froze.
"It’s always impossible... until someone pulls it off."
"Besides, didn’t you call yourself a believer of fate?"
White asked.
"Then why don’t you believe fate can call up someone that might just end the war with a snap?"
"Fate is not the same as hope. I don’t know what humanity’s fate is, nor am I a big fan of hope itself."
"Neither am I..."
White admitted.
"I don’t sit down there hoping someone comes along and one day snaps their hands and all my problems disappear."
"Hope is ridiculous... if you’re not the one working towards it."
[A/N: I’m working towards being able to reach the MGS and Win-Win target for the month by uploading more frequently, kekeke! Help buy the privileges and shower the book in gifts!]
"That’s why I’m always on the move... always doing something, to be the change that I wish upon the world."
"Might also be the reason why, to some people, I never seem able to just take my time with things."
"Never really seeming to be into something or appearing like I’m not interested in things."
White mused, drifting to the words Rukun had spoken.
As much as he hated to admit it, those words hit him harder than they ever should have.
Did he really care for Morgaine?
If yes, then why was she the one always making the advance?
...the first to reveal affection.
...the first to lean in for a kiss.
...the first to fight for more time with him.
His actions to any outsider, and even to himself, looked passive.
Like he didn’t like her and was only forcing himself not to break her heart.
Though White knew none of that was true.
There was just so much to do, so much to focus on, and so much that had happened in his past about love, that he hadn’t properly recovered from, nor did he even have time to properly recover from.
"Do you think one day you’ll be able to snap your hands and all the Supernaturals will be gone?"
The question broke through the silence.
White didn’t turn to her.
His eyes moved to the sky, to that comforting dark mixed with those starlights.
It was an inexplicable feeling.
"I know one day all of Earth’s sky will be blue once more, and if a child looks up and sees dark clouds, it’ll only be because rain is about to fall."
He said, but it was a vow.
A vow that quietly reinforced his will to one day exterminate all Supernaturals.
"You can leave..."
She said, and White remained still, continuing to stare at the sky before his eyes widened all of a sudden as he jumped to his feet.
"What did you just say?"
"You will take what I said now over what I said before?"
She asked, looking at him fiercely, and White shrank back.
"Actually, no. You said I can leave."
"But wait, what about the Punishers? The students? Won’t that..."
White asked, but paused.
"They don’t know it was you."
She said.
"The students only saw an astral being glowing with light, and they witnessed me teleporting him away."
"They don’t know it has anything to do with White DeadClaw."
"The only people who do are Zeras, Iritis, and two more Punishers who already had their memories altered."
"All that happened was that they got jailed up in the darkness for 48 hours, along with you too, for orchestrating an illegal fight."
"Punisher Isaac dying was a minor invasion that has already been resolved."
She explained as White froze.
"So you didn’t expose it all to the students... and the board meeting that will be happening three years from now?"
"All of that will still happen if you so much as lay hands on another academy staff member whatsoever."
She made clear.
"Do not use that skill you used ever again. There’ll be no more excuse for your loss of control."
"You either get killed or banned eternally from ever stepping foot in Xtremecyber Academy."
She made clear, as a door appeared to the side, and outside was a familiar street.
White still couldn’t believe his eyes, but eventually he turned to her, bowing.
"Thank you."
And with that, he stepped through the door, only to halt halfway through.
"For how long will you choose to remain in here though? Won’t you die eventually to boredom?"
He asked, only to feel an invisible force slam into his butt, throwing him out of the realm.
"Worry about yourself first."
She said, and the door shut closed with a bang, disappearing into thin air.
"Tsk, so cruel."
White said, rubbing his sore butt when the breeze slammed into his nostrils and he couldn’t seem to get enough of it.
"Ahhhhh, I’m back!"
His eyes picked up on something falling, and his fingers reached out as something gently landed on them.
It was a snowflake.
After it, a lot more snow began to fall, and a thought crossed White’s mind.
In the next moment, two massive wings tore out of him as he became a beam of light rushing into the distance.
It only took about ten minutes of flight, and his wings retreated in as he gently stepped to the ground.
There, as expected, sat a lady, sitting at a desk, snow drifting around her as her knees remained tucked in.
Nova was far gone into her lonely world when a hand wrapped around her from behind, gently pushing her legs down while her body was drawn deeper into an embrace, a head burying itself in her neck.
