SSS Awakening: Starting With Infinite Soul Copy
Chapter 171: First Weakness
"You have a military discipline to life," the golden-haired woman noted.
"Was this your natural parental upbringing? A strict father or mother?"
she asked.
"Who knows,"
White answered, not interested in answering the question.
He knew where he got his thinking from. It was tens of years of training in the most military-focused academy in the world. Though now that he had regressed and was on a path to starting afresh, taking a different turn to things, it was still impossible to simply cancel all of that out.
"So you are the Prison Warden?"
White asked, turning to her.
She had been asking all about him. He wanted to know at least a thing or two about her.
"That’s right."
"So, you’re gonna stay stuck with me... forever?"
he teased with the question.
She turned her golden eyes to him, the light in them dimming a bit.
"Do you wish to remain stuck here... forever?"
she asked fiercely.
White paused before replying.
"Actually, I don’t."
"Good. And yes, I wouldn’t be taking my eyes off of you."
She said, as White groaned and lay back on the seat.
Another long time passed, and he got bored out of his mind.
Still, he was surprised that the woman was so easily able to deal with the crippling boredom, scrolling from one page to another.
"How long have you been doing this?"
White asked, unable to bear the silence any longer.
"Doing what?"
"Sitting down here, just doing nothing. It’s boring, you know."
"I’m doing something."
She said, and he turned his eyes to her, watching her flick another page.
"Are you that slow a reader? You’ve been reading the same book for close to the three years that I’ve been in here."
White asked with a raised eyebrow.
She turned to him.
"3 years?"
"Is it 10? I don’t know, I lost count."
White said, as she flipped open a couple pages before returning back to her normal page.
"It’s only been 19 hours..."
"WHAT!?"
White screamed out as he jerked up to his feet.
The sight of his shock made a giggle escape her lips.
"You’ve gotta be kidding me? It’s only been 19 hours? What? Does time move slower in this realm or something?"
"There’s nothing wrong with time. You’re the one used to doing too many things in a short time, and giving yourself no time to simply go with the flow of time." 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
"It’s obvious with the amount of strength you’ve managed to harness at your age."
She said, as White collapsed onto the ground like a dead log.
"I can’t do this. I’m not a monk or a sage or something."
"Need to be somewhere?"
she asked.
"Not really, but..."
"Then just remain quiet, and wait."
"Wait for what?"
White asked.
"Nothing."
She answered, and he rolled his eyes, falling onto his back once more.
"Just be quiet... be quiet."
White said, exhaling and inhaling, his eyes slowly closing.
"Don’t sleep. Keep your eyes open."
She said, and White snapped his eyes open.
He tried to keep them open and do nothing, but by the devil, the pain of it was worse than having his legs sliced up.
"And how many years more have passed?"
White asked as she turned to him with drooping eyes.
"Tell me at least one has passed. Six months?"
"A day just passed. 27 hours now."
She replied, and he crumbled back to the ground.
[Really though. You can’t keep it together doing nothing for a couple days?]
The system panel flashed.
"I can’t."
[Well at least, the mighty White Sinclaw now has a clear weakness: boredom.]
[Just try to think of your future tasks and formulate plans for them. If you’re used to being on the move, then be on the move in your head.]
The system panel flashed as White furrowed his eyes at the blue sky.
"What are my plans for the future?"
White mused beneath his breath.
’First, I wanna take a visit to the United Earth Federation, find me a student called Draugr, and kill him.’
’Second, my cultivation has paused, and I don’t know how to further it. I need a manual on how to cultivate Aether Pulse. I’m hoping Commander Zoltan has got something.’
’Third, I want to learn more about runes. It’s really been a pain in my ass lately. If I knew how to decipher runes, I would have known there was an absolute law in the runes drawn on the second-year barrier and been able to prepare myself.’
’The ability to deactivate an attack... if it had been in the hands of someone like that Primordial Wolf Emissary, it would have gotten me killed in a few moves.’
White thought, his mind drifting to that fight.
Images of the mistakes he had made, better ways he could have ended the fight, and how the fight would have gone if he had the same power right now back then, all played in his head.
Eventually, he outthought them, returning back to his original thoughts.
’Fourth, I need to know what race this body of mine really is. An Umbrawyr? How do they grow stronger in power? What are their naturally ingrained abilities?’
’I mean, I suddenly discovered I can grow two large wings last time, and something tells me these horns of mine aren’t decoration.’
’Besides, I keep feeling a weird sensation of some more eyes just beneath my eyeballs.’
White thought, rubbing beneath his cheek.
’This humanoid state of mine... I think it isn’t the final state of the Umbrawyr.’
’I need to know what I am, and I’m not sure how to even begin that, except to return back to Commander Zoltan and hope his incomplete manual somehow fixes everything.’
’And that leads me to my fifth task. If the manual doesn’t give me my answers, I’ll go into that ruin. That ruin that the ten strongest humans went into and came out with these bodies and the orbs along with the other treasures. I want to return to it.’
’There, definitely, I will get all the answers to my new being.’
