Spoiled by the CEO after amnesia!
Chapter 874 - 854: Blind Date?
After her foot injury healed, Jiayi would go to F. WANG during the day to work and continue catching up with the production crew’s tasks.
In the past couple of days, however, she felt that the atmosphere at Disheng was a bit strange.
The servants would occasionally gossip behind her back, but as soon as they saw her, they would immediately stop talking and disperse to carry out their tasks, as if nothing had happened.
It wasn’t until she returned from the store today and saw such a scene upon entering the house that she couldn’t help but call over Auntie Li to ask a couple of questions.
Auntie Li always answered her questions, but this time she was strangely evasive and couldn’t articulate anything clearly.
Jiayi deliberately put on a stern face, and Auntie Li reluctantly said, "I’m going to tell you, but please don’t get mad."
"Go ahead, Auntie Li." Jiayi couldn’t help but smile wryly.
Auntie Li had only heard about it a couple of days ago, and initially didn’t want to tell Jiayi to avoid making her uncomfortable. But since Jiayi had sensitively realized something was wrong, she didn’t want to keep it from her:
"The old master is arranging blind dates for the young master. Apparently, one is the second young lady from KG Construction, and another is the only daughter of the mayor of neighboring C City. In the last few evenings, both have met the young master at dinner gatherings."
Jiayi’s heart clenched at the mention of blind dates.
He had already returned to the Huo Family to take up the position of CEO and would come back very late every day.
She thought he was just busily taking on work after just taking over, but it turned out... he was going on blind dates?
Seeing that she didn’t respond, Auntie Li comforted her: "Don’t be upset, it’s nothing. The young master is just showing up to satisfy them. On one hand is the old master, and on the other, are the daughters of two prominent families. He couldn’t ignore them. In a few days, once all these blind date dinners are over, the old master will calm down too."
Being addressed as "Miss Jiayi" snapped her back to reality.
She was no longer the young madam of the Huo Family, so what right did she have to be upset or to interfere with whose company he keeps?
After his divorce, he indeed became a bona fide eligible bachelor, coveted by countless women in the city. It was completely normal for someone to facilitate and be concerned about his marital affairs.
Curving her lips, she broke into a smile: "It’s okay. I’m going back to my room."
Upon reaching her room, she put down her bag. Maybe it was from working too hard at the store today, but she suddenly felt completely drained of energy for a moment, stood frozen, then walked to the bathroom. She fiercely washed her face with cold water, then sat down at the desk, perked up, turned on her computer and started editing designs.
Gradually, sleepiness overcame her, and her eyelids fought each other as she dozed off beside the computer.
She didn’t know how long she had slept, but her hair felt ticklish.
Opening her eyes, she saw Huo Zhenyang standing by her side, his hand tucked into his trouser pocket, while his other hand lovingly stroked her disheveled hair.
She rubbed her eyes and stood up: "You’re back."
He gently tapped her nose: "Yeah, Auntie Li has prepared dinner, let’s go downstairs to eat."
She unconsciously glanced at the time displayed under the computer: "You’re back early today. Not busy?"
"Less work today." His distinguished eyebrows twitched, seemingly noticing her slight change of expression, "What’s wrong?"
She took a deep breath, looking earnestly into his eyes: "I... I’ve been thinking, my foot is healed now, maybe Zaizai and I should temporarily move back to Green Island Garden."
His eyes suddenly turned cold, he strode towards her, his tall stature casting a shadow over her, his voice became ominously deep: "Why do you suddenly want to move out?"
She felt the coldness emanating from him and mustered her courage, "I’ve thought about it. Staying here with my current identity isn’t really appropriate. Even if I don’t mind, I still have to consider Dad and Mom. They would be unhappy if they heard rumors and slanders. Plus, my Dad is working at the embassy as a diplomat, and he always cares about his public image."
Huo Zhenyang’s eyes were sharp and frosty as he fixated on her, "I’ve said before, I can remarry you immediately. This way, you wouldn’t be living here without any official status. And no one would gossip about you."
She avoided his gaze, "But I’ve also said, I... I’m not ready yet."
"What do you need to prepare for?"
She bit her lip, "Can you please not press me?"
"It’s you who are pressing me." He was indignant. She wanted to move out with Zaizai, yet she told him not to press her. Did she know how much she was torturing him, this little enchantress!
He was adamant, "No, you and Zaizai cannot move back to Green Island Garden! If you’re worried about people talking, I will remarry you tomorrow and we will hold the wedding within this month!"
This problem was too easy to solve!
"No." She refused harshly like a stubborn little lion.
"Then don’t move out," he raised his eyebrows.
She looked up defiantly, "If I don’t move out, won’t it affect you dating other people? Dating other women while letting your ex-wife live at the house, doesn’t that sound ridiculous?"
Huo Zhenyang finally understood why she was being difficult with him, she was jealous!
He laughed out of irritation, "Who’s the blind fool that told you this?"
"It’s not important." She angrily shut down the computer. Just as her hand rested on the laptop lid it was grabbed and fiercely pulled over.
Following his force, she slid into his arms. Startled at first, she then raised her tender pink fists trying to make him let go.
He endured a few punches from her until she calmed down, his large hand circled her waist and pulled her tightly into his embrace, indomitably holding her, "Done venting? My ribs are almost broken by you. Are you trying to harm your own husband?"
"Mind your words, we have no relation right now, let alone ’husband’," she turned her face away, not willing to look at him.
"No relation? Then who has been staying at Disheng?"
Her cheeks burned with shame and anger, and she punched him twice harder to relieve her frustration, "Say that again, I dare you!"
"Alright," he caught her slender wrist, his eyes glinting with a faint smile as he gazed at her intensely and spoke deeply, "The blind dates were arranged by the old man. If I refuse one, there will endlessly be more. Better to attend a few dinners, play along to satisfy him, that’s why I didn’t tell you. However," he said, lifting her chin, "if you call me ’husband’ and say you don’t want me to go, I’ll find a reason to dismiss those dinners."
If he guessed right, Huo Tianpei probably wanted Miss Jiayi to feel uncomfortable staying at Disheng and move out on her own, that’s why he arranged the blind dates.
Indeed, this little woman really couldn’t keep calm, already causing a fuss about moving out.
However, this impatience, signifying jealousy, he quite liked it.
Her lips curled up slightly, "Wishful thinking."
He furrowed his brows, "You still want me to go?"
Somehow, Jiayi’s mood improved a lot after thinking for a while, "Since it’s to make the old man happy, you should go. And those blind dates are business clients of Huo Group as usual, it wouldn’t be good to offend them. Just handle it properly as it should be."
"Are you sure you want me to handle the blind dates?" He saw her regain her composure, not as petulant and capricious as before, and somehow, he was less pleased.
