Chapter 552: Alone Again

"I do not need your assistance. As for your son... any and all intelligence about his existence is classified to a level far above any position you could ever obtain." Jace answered as he pulled the Wisp Rifle off his back again as began charging the next shot. With just enough electricity for the weapon to fire at a low level of railgun power.

"Are you sure? Because a secondary space craft is on its way to you. Although I would not be worried about your friends on Luna, the Northern Continent or the Western Continent." She stayed quiet for a moment. Clearly fishing for information.

"Okay...? Are we done? I have something better to do." Jace told them as he spotted the ship coming in for a strafing run on the bridge.

"No. We are not. The way you operate, you were at least a special operation officer. Maybe even higher up the food chain. You even claimed you had the power to start a war. So you probably have permission to trade information about my son in exchange for useful intelligence." Catherine offered as Jace passed the halfway mark on the bridge and fired.

Boom!

The shell tore through the air causing the nearby people who were on the bridge to duck in a panic. There was not a bunch but it was mostly a mix of civilians and military personnel. It looked more like they were trying to keep the city border closed which was how he slipped onto the bridge so easily. They did not try to stop someone who literally jumped over them.

The shell slammed into the ship as it tried to veer out of the way. Tearing through the side of the ship and out the back creating a large hole while sending a chunk of the ship flying off into the ocean. The larger portions slammed into the main support of the bridge and exploded into a black flame that engulfed the support.

"What in this backwater galaxy do you think warrants a technologically superior galaxy’s attention like ours?" Jace asked with a scoff as the Wisp rifle opened and began cooling.

"Ha... that is fair." Catherine admitted. "But you would be surprised what the ’ancestors’ left behind in this galaxy before they came to ours."

"I doubt it. I am aware they found out a number of things. Like how to travel between galaxies quickly." Jace answered as he began slowing down Colonel as they closed in on the end of the bridge. Ignoring the screams from the people back on the bridge as one of the main supports began melting and the bridge creaked and groaned.

"You really are not going to give me this information are you?" Catherine asked with a tone of desperation mixed with annoyance.

"Nope." Jace answered before hanging up, ending the call. As they came off the bridge he looked back in time to see the bridge begin falling into the ocean. The black fire was still burning as people standing off the edge watched the scene in horror.

But Jace ignored it as he brought Colonel over to a tree and dismounted. Colonel collapsed to the ground and began breathing heavily. Jace sighed as he looked at the knife that was sticking out of the horse’s side. He pointed his hand to the side and a large container materialized.

It was what he forged while at the Gator’s blacksmith shop. It was just a basic container made of chemi-metal. But he opened the box and the contents were normal items from first aid supplies to ammunition and a variety of electrical components and metals.

He grabbed out the first aid supplies before pulling out the dagger from Colonel’s side. The wound started bleeding but Jace pulled out a tubbed with a syringe and injected it into the horse’s side. Colonel laid its head down while it fainted. The blood stopped leaking out of the horse’s side like a faucet.

He then grabbed a patch and laid it over the horse’s wound. It glowed gold before burning away. Leaving behind a gold colored scab. "Thanks for taking me this far Colonel." Jace patted its mane while it slept before walking north through the forest after dematerializing the counter once he put all the first aid supplies back inside.

His helmet began beeping again as he received a call from the same source again. He sighed in annoyance as he answered. "I suppose it makes sense that not just your weapons technology would advance. But I am surprised you left behind your scraps. We could try to reverse engineer the technology behind it."

"Haa... first aid and quality of life technology that would not provide a strategic importance are typically freely provided by the Victorium. Their people are very citizens first regardless of nation." Jace explained as he walked through the forest as he heard the sound of something flying low over the massive trees he was walking in-between.

"Sounds like that annoys you. Although I suppose it makes sense. It sounds like you were originally part of the Vexical Empire and their specialty was choking an enemy to death by using their people as leverage." Catherine pointed out, annoying Jace even more.

"Are you that bored? Or are you just making it a point to annoy me?" Jace asked as he blocked another hacking attempt and countered with an attack that disabled half of the military satellites.

"Both. The rebellion has stopped all of the work I was going to do. So now I am stuck trying to find scrapes of just about anything while we wait on the main fleet. Speaking of waiting..." Just as she finished speaking a bunch of ropes dropped around him and figures began repelling from space craft transports that were floating above the trees.

"Hmm..." Jace pulled out his knife and threw it at one of the ropes before dematerializing it and rematerializing it in his hand. The group of soldiers that were rappelling down that specific rope began creaming as they fell to the ground. "You are wasting manpower. At this rate they will end up deeply embedded in the planet."

"What makes you so sure of that?" Catherine asked as the soldiers began gathering around him. Then a larger figure dropped from the sky and landed in front of him. "I think this should be just enough to catch you."

The figure was robotic in shape and began getting larger as it unraveled to reveal treads and a variety of weapons. "Well that is super interesting."

"It is one of the weapons we intend to cull this rebellion. I am sure it will also take care of your people. We already sent a number of them to capture your fellow squadmates. I hope you do not mind." Catherine explained.

Jace chuckled, "I don’t. But I think you are forgetting one thing." Jace moved forward and the machine aimed its weapons at him and they began revving up. Preparing to unload on him. But Jace just kicked the treads of the massive warmachine and in that moment overloaded the power source. It exploded sending debris everywhere. "Those of us from the Vexical Empire are unique for our powers."

"Did you just... shit..." Catherine cursed as the soldiers looked confused and hesitated slightly before Jace dashed towards the closest one and kicked him. The soldier knocked down a few people as they flew through the air and slammed into a tree before falling to the ground unconscious.

One of the other soldiers went to raise their weapon but Jace’s knife sliced through the air. Cutting through one of the soldier’s hands and his weapon. Then he was moving towards the next closest soldier who turned to run as Jace kicked him in the back of the legs before moving to the next enemy.

The soldiers were already panicking as a voice yelled in his ear and probably in their ears as well. "Stop! Carnival Squad, pack up and return. There is no point in continuing this. Should I expect similar or worse resistance from your team, Gladiator?"

"He..." Jace shook his head as he walked past some of the soldiers. Ignoring them now that they were scared of him. "Depends. But I figure you have already lost contact with your team that you sent to the ones on Luna. Am I right?"

"Yeah." Catherine answered. "How..."

"Because we are literally the best of the best from our nations back in our galaxy. I would be surprised if a few meager automated machines could take us down." Jace answered as he picked up speed and started to jog to the Northern Coast. He had accessed Prima Terra military satellites and decided to take a look at the Abyssal ship that was coming his way. He had maybe a few minutes. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"Yeah... But it is clear you and the others are more focused on something else besides setting down roots or establishing yourself. You have a way back to your galaxy. Or at least you have an unspoken plan since before you separated. I will be seeing you soon... Gladiator." Catherine informed him before ending the communication. Jace then cut off the connection completely so she could no longer track him.
