Ah Chen didn’t refuse. Bai Qiaoqian’s way of whimpering to others was none of her business—it was their freedom as long as they didn’t bother her; after all, they hadn’t done anything bad.

Grouping together was fine.

Ma Qin didn’t object to Bai Qiaoqian’s words.

As for Ruan Xiao, the class’s naive sweetie, only got called due to his role as the literature class representative.

They had a joyful dinner, thanks to finding tasty food. On the way to the office, Ruan Xiao quietly said to Ah Chen and the others, "You guys are adventurers, right? It’s just my intuition. There’s no one else in the office, just us, so we should avoid being marked."

"If we really were monsters, wouldn’t you be afraid?" Ah Chen asked.

Ruan Xiao took a few steps away from them, then came back, shrugged: "Even if I’m scared, I have to face it, right?"

"How did you die?" Ruan Xiao asked again. He seemed to be quite chatty, maybe because he’d never encountered anything terrible due to his luck, he maintained this innocence.

"I didn’t die," Ah Chen replied with a smile, a revelation Bai Qiaoqian and Ma Qin were already aware of, so they weren’t surprised.

They always found something peculiar about Li Chen and Huo Jingchen, but couldn’t pinpoint exactly what.

Ruan Xiao was shocked: "You came here to help someone? Is that person your relative?"

"Not really a relative."

Seeing Ah Chen unwilling to elaborate, Ruan Xiao tactfully dropped the subject.

Once in the office, confirming it was just them, he distributed the papers for grading.

"I want to leave too."

Ma Qin and she exchanged a knowing look, suddenly realizing they possibly shared the same resolve to go the distance for a chance to return to the times around their death.

But thinking of Bai Qiaoqian, Ma Qin quickly averted her gaze, preferring her to bother those men than to disgust her.

Returning to the dorm, Ah Chen greeted the other three roommates.

"Stay alert tonight; don’t sleep too deeply. If something happens, lend a hand if possible," said one of the dorm girls. Even though she suspected Ah Chen and the others could be monsters, what if they weren’t? Facing issues together surely added strength.

No one answered, which left the girl looking a bit displeased, "Do you think it won’t work? If you don’t stick together and something goes wrong, don’t blame anyone else."

Bai Qiaoqian moved close, pitifully saying, "I think we should stick together, definitely. Say, do you have extra coins? Could you lend me some to buy a Resurrection Card? I seem to be short."

It wasn’t enough for the third card.

Ah Chen chuckled; this Bai Qiaoqian was quite amusing.
