Chapter 182: "Apples!!"

Long winded, egregious, and ominous sobbing can be heard echoing throughout Roronora City.

[DARKNESS]

Saku’s Voice: *Why does it always have to be me?

Why me?

What have I done to deserve the shit end of the stick, all because of someone else’s selfishness?

I was born with less than all of them, yet happiness continues to be tease me...why?*

Through a blurred to clear PoV, there’s a brief view of small dirty legs in black gym shorts, sitting on a rock, surrounded by green grass. A football in their lap with black sneakers on their small feet.

Saku’s Voice: *It’s the same reason why I can’t let my feelings for Itsuka...and maybe now Laban, get too serious.

Why would I want to live or love, knowing the happiness I thought I found comfort in, could be gone in an instant, and is out of my control.

What if, that heartbreaking moment could’ve been avoided all along, just by having secluded myself away.*

After blinking, a drip of blood drops passes the blurry PoV face, now eye level with the green grass.

Someone’s back is retreating, and running away before an incoming kick blackens the PoV.

Saku’s Voice: *I can handle being alone.

I should’ve just stay secluded and let my heart turn cold... like I had originally planned. That was my path, after I was kicked out by the woman who resented giving birth to me.

I was going to live out the rest of my life, alone in that remodelled bus under the city dump.

That’s the only way I could live in peace and never have happiness to lose...*

There are familiar sounds of puppy whimpers, the same sound that completely reprogrammed the young organic computer, within an instant of processing it.

Saku’s Voice: *That was the only way...But, he became the only exception, because we were the same.

...but so was...*

Saku 40, with the top a black hood is shaking in the wind. The sounds of sobs are getting softer.

Saku’s Voice: *We were happy being alone, but after we fought together to survive, the both of us were taken in by strangers, who kept us captive for over a year.*

Just below the sweatshirt, are a set of SunSwords attached to black sweatpants, and the tight elastic around the upper ankle, exposes black socks, inside black high top sneakers.

Saku’s Voice: *As if the universe were mocking me, half my combat training classes in that damm academy were scheduled with them. I was forced to join a Squad, with those same two people I have been trying to avoid since seeing them that morning, right before the invasion began.*

The black sneakers hit the pavement within Roronora City and each step leaps over 30 feet. The left sneaker lands on pavement and pushes off with dust kicking force.

Saku’s Voice: *All that effort, and I still had to confront them to achieve Friend’s happiness.

But because of them...because all of them...

Now...

Now I’m forced to-...*

The citizens of the city, slowly transitioning into the night life, hear a weird, low pitch noise and feel the wind of something, but no one catches a complete glimpse of the dark blur blending into the early evening.

Saku’s Voice: *Now I’m forced to be involved with others, because they’ve manipulated my emotions.

I’ve always been okay with sacrificing my own happiness, to avoid feeling this. I’ve never been living for my own happiness.

I’ve been living to avoid this feeling.

The feeling of knowing I can’t just fade away anymore without leaving someone behind.

I no longer have the choice to walk away and live alone, because of THEIR selfishness to entrust me with THEIR happiness!*

Princess Kawaii’s loud squeak of fear echoes throughout the city and the black flames covering the entire left side of Saku’s face grow larger.

Saku’s Voice: *I didn’t ask for any of them.

I tried pushing each one of them away at first, but for some reason, they just came back.

Why?

Maybe, for them, it was the opposite feeling but I’ve always been in the wrong place at the wrong time.

...but for them...*

A bubbling red SeiõrShield zips across roof tops, jumping building to building.

Esau has Princess Kawaii under his arm, covering her with his personal SeiõrShield, and retreating.

Saku’s Voice: *I thought I had the capability to not care about what has been done to others, or I could simply brush off the things that don’t directly effect me.

...but how?

How have these new forms of life introduced to my existence, changed my overall perspective on life as a whole?

Why did they choose me?

Why the hell does anyone like me at all?*

The right eye of the Yin Vessel is still closed but a pitch black cloud covering the left half of his face. Where his left Anjell Eye should be inside the darkness, is a shining white orb that projects light through the absolute dark aura.

An eye spotlight targeted on the escaping Esau with the captive princess.

Saku’s Voice: *...all because of my inability to ignore the weak and the broken...

Because of my easily manipulated and sympathetic emotions...

I’ll always have this feeling in the end...

This feeling of losing.

...

..

...I could have never lost, if I had just never agreed to play this damn game.*

...

...

...

Daisuki’s Voice: *If at any point in life you feel like you have no purpose, that just means you haven’t learned enough about your world or you haven’t helped the right people to desire a purpose suitable for you, yet...*

The unconcious right side of Saku’s face, begins to wince, remembering his first real talk with his new mentor.

Daisuki’s Voice: *...naming him Friend and desiring freedom WITH him proves you’re already a smart kid and your vision of freedom involves the happiness of others over yourself.*

Saku’s Voice: *But WHY do I feel obligated to help others find THEIR happiness, when I don’t have the desire to find my own?"

Daisuki’s Voice: *Remember though, true freedom isn’t about being allowed to do whatever you want, whenever you want. True freedom can only be acquired when you’re never alone. In the end, if you’re all alone, the concept of freedom is moot, right?*

Every human with an IceEye, whether in Roronora City, Erebus City, and anyone with an alien symbiote, that resides in a Sanpaku controlled territory, who has looked at the moon, now has their vision stuck to the silver orb in the sky.

Every single one of them has the matching moon silver aura coming from their symbiote.

[From Nephilim’s Blackhawk helicopter]

Arai looks at the same moon, with his two pure blue human eyes and he obviously doesn’t notice anything different. He looks back inside the copter’s cabin to see Nephilim reading a book, while Maniae and Tristan are holding their breath, mid-contest.

Arai(thinking): *I’ll never get caught in this web like you, Maniae. The more of these clowns we let into our circle, the sooner that circle becomes a three dimensional empty hole we dig ourselves.*

A purple faced Tristan exhales first and Maniae continues to hold his breath in a showboat pose, until Tristan finger hooks the boy’s nostrils, making the red eyed boy exhale and laugh along with his new superior.

Arai(thinking): *I wasn’t planning on us having to live together in an alien apocalypse for three years when we first met, but it luckily worked out.

But if you keep falling deeper into this emotional trap.

...If you get too emotionally tangled with these people to fight without hesitation, like we did everyday in that gym for three years, I won’t bother saving you.

I don’t care if you are my only friend.*

Arai’s eyes narrow and he looks back out the window at the bright moon.

Nephilim, out the corner of his eye, notices the concerning facial expression made by the young man always trying to keep himself at an arms length away.

After a deep breath, the General goes back to his reading.

Tristan settles down from laughing with Maniae and looks over at his intricate leader sitting across from him. As someone who pays attention to fine details, Tristan focuses on the binding of the red book to peel at the title.

"HCOBs XIII"

[Back at the entrance to Sanpaku, Daisuki, TayTay, and Scylia’s IceEyes disengage with the moon and the special aura fades.]

Aiden is still watching over Friend. The brave, strong, four legged soldier is no longer whimpering, but calmly laying on his side. His doggy eyes are clearly worried...

Aiden softly rubs the tan fur over Friend’s side.

Aiden: "I’m 1,000% certain it was his ribs bothering him, but thanks to the healing effects of the base-kit symbiote of his right IceEye, he’s already starting to feel better.

Cuz he’s a good boyyy.

Yes he is!"

Friend’s large tail wags and pounds the ground as he stays on his side.

Aiden: "Someone strong must’ve kicked him and Saku sent him here, in order to protect his best friend."

Sol is standing above them, bent over, hands on her knees. Her eyes of the Sun looking down on the poor animal but then she realizes something.

Sol: "Wait, if there’s danger close to them, and Captain ’Jackass’ sent Friend back here, away from that danger.

...Then where’s?"

Zoram is carefully watching her ’husband to be’ until Daisuki snaps out of his own thoughts. Processing everything that just happened with his IceEye and the moon.

Zoram: "Master Mina, is everything alright!?"

Daisuki: "I gotta open a portal for them!"

The man quickly runs to the flat, empty, cement wall entrance of his sanctuary.

His IceEye pops off to it’s 2nd Stage, and a blue aura trails behind his dreaded haired head.

Aiden’s eyes widen behind his glasses after finishing Sol’s question in his own head.

Aiden: "Where’s Princess Kawaii?!"

Daisuki focuses on the hard cement grey wall and a small pinhole of a portal begins to slowly grow. The leader of all Takamagahara focuses as hard as he can, shaking from trying to match his disciple’s speed.

Daisuki(heavy breathing): "I can’t believe how quickly... and how easily... Saku can open these portals ...and it’s not even his own ability...

As the leader I have to...

have to..." 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

Two hands, both a different skin tone, grabs one of his shoulders individually. Daisuki gets a quick jolt of energy as he is covered in his wives matching bright yellow SharedSoulSeiõrShield.

The half Japanese, half Portuguese man breaks his concentration on his portal and looks to his left.

Daisuki: "...Scylia?"

He then looks to his right.

Daisuki: "...Zoram?"

The beautiful smiles of the two gorgeous women are more than enough of a spark, without them sharing their personal Seiõr.

Scylia: "Please Master Daisuki, I don’t care what that shit head says about you, we know how hard you work for everyone, so don’t strain yourself too hard.

We’re always here for you..."

Zoram: "...They’ll need our combined strength to hold and maintain their only escape route to safety, is that correct, Master Mina?"

Daisuki’s eyes drop a tear in their respective forms of matter. He relaxes a bit, and then focuses back on the portal he had started. It widens at it’s usual slow pace.

From their side of the portal hole, their perspective is from the Roronora City Highway Exit sign. The placement of the inner dimensional hole, gives the three of them a clear overlooking view of the highway heading into Roronora City.

The sounds of snarling Icemen can be heard from the other side.

Scylia and Zoram get worried then look at each other.

Scylia: "I’ll take a quick peek, can you cover for me, my love?"

A blushing Zoram nods once more, with a confident and excited *Hmph!*

Scylia pokes her head through and her jaw drops seeing the moving crowd of ice aliens marching towards the same city her allies went to.

She leans back to the safety of Sanpaku, and is shaking as she backs away.

Zoram softly rubs Scylia’s arm with her free hand in an attempt to comfort her.

Zoram: "They’ll be fine, dear. As long as Katsu is with them, no Icemen will hurt the rest of the group, right?"

Daisuki: "That’s not the problem here, ’Zorrie’. You didn’t look at the moon, so you wouldn’t know, but Saku’s Anjell Eye has basically taken control of his body."

The Squad 40 mentor chuckles in the serious moment.

Daisuki: "I guess he didn’t realize his situation, until he remembered our first ’man to man’ talk.

Fortunately, in that state his eye is in, Saku’s actual consciousness can communicate with us, like Katsu’s eye, but only at night and with other eye users who look at the moon."

Scylia: "It’s very peculiar.

To mimick the very ability he was told he couldn’t copy, that resilient young man somehow bypassed that rule for the sake of his friends.

Peculiar, but extremely poetic."

Zoram looks over at Taylor, the Giga man is looking at the same hand he remembers grabbing his Mama’s perfectly toasted marshmallow with.

To the food lover’s dismay, because of Saku’s untimely interference, TayTay can’t remember how good his personally made treat tasted.

He quickly spins his head to Sol and carefully tugs on his Mama’s sweatshirt sleeve, then pointing at his open mouth.

TayTay: "Mama! Mama! Please...apples!"

Sol gets surprised but then remembers who Taylor is, and what is overall important to him.

It’s not Saku, not Princess Kawaii, it’s just the best tasting food available.

The dark skinned 16 year old girl lets out a deep sigh and sits back down next to her "son".

Sol: "I guess there’s nothing we can really do at this point. It’s all in the hands of ’God’ now, Big Guy.

And these aren’t apples, they’re..."

Sol looks up at the sparkling orange eye of TayTay.

Sol: "Oh, who the hell am I kidding?"

She grabs a marshmallow, puts it on a skewer and begins to cook while Taylor drools in anticipation.

Sol: "One minute, Big Guy. Mama will have a perfect apple, ready for your eating."

TayTay: "Apples!"

...

...

...From the ocean that covers the underwater traffic tunnel, turned sanctuary, a sad dark blue and purple cloud floats up from the water, and towards Roronora City.
