Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy
Chapter 269: So much dog foooood!
Luo Muchen sat in his opulent office, bathed in the warm glow of the midday sun that poured through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The breathtaking view of the sprawling city below stretched out before him, a testament to his power and influence.
He had just concluded a crucial meeting with one of his trusted partners, discussing the expansion of their illicit operations but in truth, his mind wasn’t there.
He was thinking of his little boyfriend who didn’t even write him a message since morning. He had been glancing at his cell phone several times while working and at some point, he even thought that it was on silent for calls and messages. The other time he actually thought his wifi and mobile data were off that’s why there was no message but he was wrong. His mobile data was on and working fine so was his wifi.
He leaned back in his plush leather chair while removing his cufflinks. His secretary timidly knocked on the door before she entered the room. Her voice breaking the silence that enveloped the space she said, "Boss Luo, I apologise for the interruption, but Bager is here to see you."
The mention of Bager’s name sent a surge of anger coursing through Luo Muchen’s veins. He sneered coldly when he recalled the information he had uncovered on Lee Ya’s server.
Bager had been his confidant and friend for a while. When he found out what Qie Xieling was doing he even shifted his attention towards him sponsoring him even more than he ever did for Qie Xieling.
He suppressed Qie Xieling and even wanted to kill him but he wasn’t aware that he had an even worse spy under his belt. It was like beating a wild hamster from your house only to find that there was a snake all along.
He had been sent by his most cunning enemy to infiltrate his inner circle. The betrayal cut deep, fueling the fires of Luo Muchen’s rage.
Luo Muchen gently tapped the table suppressing his burning anger.
"Send him in," Luo Muchen commanded his voice a controlled mix of authority and fury.
Moments later, the door creaked open, and Bager stepped into the room. The two men locked eyes, and Luo Muchen’s gaze was icy, filled with a mixture of disappointment and burning anger. Bager, oblivious to the storm brewing within Luo Muchen, approached with a casual smile on his face.
"Muchen... you haven’t been answering my calls. I was a little worried," Bager greeted, his voice betraying no hint of the treachery that lay beneath. "I-I missed you."
Bager wasn’t lying. When he was sent to Luo Muchen he treated it as a job just like any other. A smile here and a slight show of care was enough to settle his debt with Lee Ya. But the more he interacted with him the more he realised how amazing he was. Bit by bit he fell in love more especially when he treated him so well.
"Today I didn’t bring you anything. I thought maybe we should go to lunch together. I reserved a nice table at Alchemist down the street," he said as he sat down opposite Luo Muchen with a sweet charming smile you would think he was an angel.
Luo Muchen’s grip tightened around the armrests of his chair, his knuckles turning white. He resisted the urge to lash out physically, knowing that control was his greatest weapon.
He was about to let him know that he knew everything when there was a commotion outside.
"Mr. Qie, you can’t enter there. Boss Luo is busy," she said running after him.
"Busy with what? A work meeting?" said Qie Xieling as his steps paused.
The secretary was stupid enough to answer honestly. "No, he has a guest."
Qie Xieling squinted his eyes his head slightly tilted like he was trying to figure out who it could be. Having an inkling he pushed the door open and sure enough the little weasel was sitting in Luo Muchen’s office.
"Oh sorry, I didn’t know you two had a lunch date," he said in a sarcastic tone and Luo Muchen’s lips quirked as he gestured for him to come over.
Qie Xieling was smiling but internally he was seething. He had told Luo Muchen that he wouldn’t come for lunch and in the end, Luo Muchen invited others to eat together.
A mature adult would be civil but he suddenly wanted to throw a tantrum. With a smirk on his face, he took a step back while saying, "No no no please continue. I will come back another time," translation ’I am so mad you would have to beg me to be forgiven’. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
Luo Muchen’s face sank when he saw him turn to leave. He instantly seemed like he was in crisis. He grabbed Qie Xieling’s hand to Bager’s astonishment.
He knew that Luo Muchen had been stalling when it came to dealing with Qie Xieling. He had locked up him and even tried to kill him but here he was holding Qie Xieling’s hand.
It was then that he realised that he had missed something. Something had happened between these two recently that he wasn’t aware of.
Luo Muchen wasn’t at all embarrassed. He pulled Qie Xieling holding on tightly to his hand like he was afraid he would run away. He sat down in his chair and pulled Qie Xieling down forcing him to sit in his lap. Qie Xieling didn’t have a problem with it. He just wanted to be a little difficult.
"Luo Muchen," called out Qie Xieling trying to get up but Luo Muchen’s hand slipped into his t-shirt with his forehead resting on Qie Xieling’s back. Qie Xieling might not have been embarrassed before but now he really was bashful.
He wanted to show Bager who this man now belonged to but Luo Muchen really stepped into the role too seriously and now he was being fondled right in front of Bager.
He tried to get up again but Luo Muchen held him down and whispered, "Why did you call me that? Call me what I like and I will let you go."
Qie Xieling, "..."
"You tw-," said Bager before Luo Muchen raised his hand gesturing for him to shut it.
Bager could see the darkness in Luo Muchen’s eyes that had never been directed towards him. It was always Qie Xieling who bore the brunt of Luo Muchen’s anger but now something had changed.
