Lee Ya stormed into her lavish office, her normally composed face twisted with rage. The news had just reached her ears and she was fuming in the mouth. She had called Bager over to her office and his subordinates were going to pick him up wherever he was.
She couldn’t do it. That bastard Luo, had exposed her secret money laundering warehouse and it was all over the news. They knew it was her and it was only a matter of time before they came knocking on her door. She had to disappear for a while but after getting some answers because how did he know? The room quaked with her fury as she swept valuable artefacts off her desk, sending them crashing to the floor.
Bager stood frozen at the threshold of the office. When Lee Ya found him ten years ago after his father, a disgraced racer, sold him to his creditors Bager was so grateful. If she didn’t buy him from them he would have been forced to sell his body to their clients. He had seen her as his saviour but soon realised he had jumped from a blazing flame into hot tar.
She told him that he would have to repay her every cent she spent on him and it would accumulate interest. She sent him off with a loan and told him to be a better racer than her father. It would be useful to her in the future.
He did exactly that and for years she asked for nothing. Even the money she told him to repay was forgotten, well, that’s at least what he thought. A few years later she called him and as expected she was here to collect debts but the debt was too heavy for him to pay. Even if he worked hard for the rest of his life he wouldn’t be able to pay her back.
She gave him another way to repay his debts and that was getting into Luo Muchen’s circle. For years Lee Ya had tried to bring all types of women into his circle. Whether it be the lascivious type or the conservative type, none of them caught his eye. She became suspicious of Luo Muchen’s preferences when she saw him take in Qie Xieling. It wasn’t in Luo Muchen’s nature to be generous just like his mistress of a mother so how come he was willing to take Qie Xieling in?
Bager was more exotic and good-looking with a kind face so she decided to get him to seduce Luo Muchen. She also managed to lure in Qie Xieling to steal from Luo Muchen. He was easily convinced because Qie Xieling loved money. As long as the price was high enough he would sell his offspring.
She started by helping him steal small things but her appetite soon grew big and she demanded more. It wasn’t only money but Luo Muchen’s secrets and the family heirloom that belonged to their father but was gifted to Luo Muchen on that old man’s deathbed.
Qie Xieling managed to steal a lot of money and information but it wasn’t as much as she had Bager taking from Luo Muchen. Bager didn’t steal money but stole all of Luo Muchen’s confidential information. The information Qie Xieling stole wasn’t anywhere close to what Bager took.
When Luo Muchen finally realised what was happening, Lee Ya set Qie Xieling up and made him take the fall to maintain Bager’s identity.
As expected Qie Xieling suffered the price and he was even going to die at Luo Muchen’s hands. How he survived was still a mystery to Lee Ya. Since Qie Xieling had refused to steal the red diamond before he was caught, she told Bager to steal it and Qie Xieling became the fall guy.
Now the situation had reversed and it was her turn to have her hidden criminal acts used against her. Fear etched across Bager’s face as he cautiously stepped forward, his heart pounding in his chest.
"Boss... I-I heard what happ...," Bager stammered, his voice trembling but Lee Ya raised her hand gesturing for him to shut up.
He abruptly shut his mouth and with a closed fist she gently hit the desk suppressing the rage boiling inside of her. "Haven’t I been good to you?"
Bager’s lips parted like he was about to say something but he shut his mouth again afraid he would say the wrong thing that would set her off.
"I have given you a chance to pay back a debt that you wouldn’t be able to pay even with your organs sold on the black market but what did you do for me?" She slowly raised her head and glared at him before continuing to say,
"You had one job which is to watch him and tell me every move he makes but what did you do?"
Bager trembled in fear, the air suffocating.
"I-I failed," he stammered back a response already foreseeing his demise.
"You failed... I will give you one last chance... If you fail me again I will send you to meet your maker, do you hear me?" she said her voice menacing and imperious.
"Tha-thank you. I promise I won’t fail you again," he bowed several times his body quivering like a leaf.
"Get out, I am tired of seeing your face," she said and Bager ran out without looking back. He was so terrified she would change her mind so he ran outside and a few blocks more before he stopped to catch his breath.
While he was running like he was a track star, he wasn’t aware of the people watching him. Two undercover police officers were watching that nightclub. They thought they wouldn’t find anything interesting but lo and behold, the runner-up for the drift world championship was running out it the nightclub as though running for his life.
"Will you look at that? We caught ourselves an easy target," said one of them while passing the binoculars over.
The second officer looked through the lens watching the young man running. "That one will sing like a bird and guess what? He is also involved with that bastard Luo... Should we go get him? " he said only for someone to block his view of Bager.
The man was dressed in black and he stood there like a statue.
