Chapter 43: cultivators

Victor’s heart and body trembled with clear fear. He saw his death in front of him.

Are we going to die? Oh! World, you are paying for my kindness this way;.... well, I expected nothing less... No, I don’t want to die...

In front stood a massive tiger, triple the size of any normal tiger, its face wet with blood; clearly, it just had a feast. Now, the tiger’s golden eyes were glaring at them as if they were its snacks.

Right now, he just wants to curse that merchant who told him there were no beasts in this forest, and himself why he believed it; no, he didn’t believe it, but he still— he had planned to go through the mud road this all because of those bandits; he had entered this forest.

I guess this is the end.

My dagger won’t even pass through its thick muscles, damaging its internal organs would be a different matter; skull, it would be no less harder than my steel dagger, with my strength it won’t pass through to damage its brain, maybe ears or eyes... would this thing die if he stabbed his whole dagger into its eyes because he won’t get any second chance those claws would rip him apart..

Haha, why am I sure that I can deliver at least one attack?

He can feel Norah sticking against his back, her trembling body, but he can do nothing...

Then he saw.

The beast in front of him suddenly looked up. Roared!

____

"Senior brother, the beast is running...’’ Lux said,

They were in boat-shaped flying artifacts. After sending villagers with their fellow disciples back to the sect first, they started searching for the beast. Good thing Senior Brother Mukan had a personal flying artifact.

If not for this, who knows how long it was gonna take to find this beast; they would have failed the mission and lost the merit points. Following Senior Brother Mukan was the best decision of his life. Maybe after entering the inner sect, his life would be easy under Senior Brother Mukan’s protection.

But unlike Lux, Something else was playing on Mukan’s mind.

In this area, because of low QI, normal animals able to evolve into beasts were not possible; without any treasure, yes, he expected this after seeing this mission in the mission hall. Luckily, he took it before any elder or any person with a brain would see this, or they would also have expected the treasure in this area.

He wants to test his luck to see whether he would encounter such an opportunity or not. That’s why he brought outer disciples with him because they would be more obedient.

And when he got the chance, he sent his Juniors away with the villagers because if there is treasure, he wants it for himself and does not want to report back to the sect. He would have sent them all away, but he needed them to fuel the boat with their QI, and he wasn’t sure how strong the beast would be

Now, looking at it, it’s not even a first-tier beast; he can easily handle it alone. He doesn’t need them anymore. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

"The kids down there, maybe afraid of bandits, had run away from the village and entered the forest." Mukan looked at Lux. "Take those kids with you; they would be scared, maybe there would be some family members of them from those survivors."

"But, senior brother...

Before Lux could say more, he turned and locked his eyes on the running tiger beast.

"You guys go back to the sect; that beast is too weak for me, I will hunt him before I lose him..." He jumped from branch to tree, then one tree to another.

Look Like the Senior brother had already reached an advanced level in feather step technique. He felt envy and slight jealousy in his heart, but he immediately shook it off.

When Mukan was gone, others looked at each other; Lux let out an awkward smile. "Senior brother is too kind.’’

"Indeed, indeed", the other two agreed immediately.

Lux nodded. " Let’s do as Senior Brother Mukan said."

Victor’s legs almost gave up; he just wanted to sit on the ground, lean against the rock or tree, and let his body relax like a dead person and take some long breaths. But he just kept standing.

Behind him, Norah still held his shirt tightly; she was sticking too close, as she just wanted to enter his body.

But don’t have time to mind her; his gaze moved to the sky. There was a flying boat; that was his first time seeing something like this. Is that scared tiger away? Cultivators?

The boat was coming closer, and it was landing.

When it landed, three guys stepped off and walked toward them

Robes, pony tails, swards, yup they’re cultivators. It was my first time encountering the cultivator. What should I.. act like a scared kid... what, act like I’m really scared? It’s a good thing I don’t piss...

"Kids, what are you doing here? ’’ One guy asked,

Victor tried to copy the girl’s scared expression. "Aa, Bandits attacked our village... so we ran into the forest to hide.. And saw... a big tiger "

They looked at each other, understanding. ’’ I see, come with us; I will take you to other saviors’’

Are they taking us back to the village? Whatever, I will just pick the right road from there. Wait, should I ask them to drop me in some city or how about joining their sect? He doesn’t have much knowledge about sects anyway. Now he can’t even trust the direction that he gets from that merchant.

Whatever, let’s go with the flow, but what if the flow wants me to become the food of a tiger?

Victor asked the guy who stood in front of him. "Where are you taking us?"

They don’t reply campletly ignored them.

----

Some time later.

They were standing on the flying boat with three cultivators. Victor and Norah stood on the back side of the boat, while three guys in white-yellow robes stood at the front
