Revenge Begins: Reincarnated as a Hated Idol! - Chapter 108: Loyal Shadow
Aren sat in the moderately sized living room, sitting before Arol, his past life’s bodyguard. Between them was a glass table, adorned with snacks and cold drinks that Arol’s wife had brought in.
His two children, a girl of eighteen and a boy of fifteen, had already greeted Aren and took some pictures with him after he removed his mask and cap, introducing himself.
Even Arol’s wife asked for a picture, claiming herself a supporter of the victims and him in the scandal.
After the short commotion, Arol sent his wife and children to a different room and returned to sit in front of Aren, politely asking:
"Mr. Aren, you said outside that you want to hire me as your bodyguard. Is that true?"
Aren gave a curt nod in response.
Arol seemed thoughtful for a few moments before he curiously asked, "How did you find out about me? And why do you want to hire me specifically? There are many security companies that provide bodyguards to celebrities like you."
Aren had expected these questions before he decided to appear in front of Arol.
Honestly, more than to hire him as his bodyguard, he wanted to ask him questions. However, he couldn’t just say that he had possessed the idol, Aren Frost, and he was his former boss who died recently.
So, to get answers, he had come up with a plan.
As for his questions, he began to answer calmly to dispel his suspicions.
"Mr. Arol, do you know Livia Entis? She was the head of Talent Management Team B at Titan Crest Entertainment."
Arol closed his eyes, trying to remember who Aren was talking about.
Soon, his eyes snapped open as he remembered.
"That beautiful blue-haired woman, right? Boss used to praise her for being good at her work."
Aren nodded with a satisfied smile.
"Yes. She is now my manager, and she was the one who suggested your name. She said you are loyal and capable, perfect for the job."
Arol’s eyes widened in surprise as he asked for confirmation.
"She really said that?"
Aren nodded.
"Strange..." Arol rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Shouldn’t she blame me for the boss’s death like the others?"
"That’s what she warned me about." Aren interjected his murmurs.
"About what?"
"About how you were blamed for the death of the CEO of Titan Crest Entertainment. She said you were too loyal to let it happen. So before hiring you, I want to know your side of the story."
Aren was acting as if he were asking due to Livia’s advice, hiding his own interest and curiosity. Moreover, this was a perfect excuse to find out what had actually happened that day.
How could he, the owner of the house with his bodyguards present, be killed so easily by Neil?
Where were his bodyguards when he was getting pinned to the ground by Neil’s bodyguards?
Today, he could get answers to those questions.
"Reasonable." Arol said, not finding anything wrong with Aren’s request.
As a prospective employer, he had the right to know the truth before hiring him.
Moreover, Arol himself wanted to share his side of the story.
No one had believed him when he was blamed for everything. So at least he could get the burden off his chest by sharing his side with Aren.
Thus, he began to speak.
"I was hired by the boss when I was only 30 years old. It’s already been eighteen years since then. In all these years, he never treated me like a mere bodyguard. I was more like a friend to him, or that’s what he said," he chuckled.
"He would even ask me to drink with him whenever he would be tense or would want to share something to relieve his tension."
Arol smiled as if thinking of someone fond and dear to him.
"He was younger than me, still more mature and respectable. But there was one flaw in him despite all of his good qualities."
His smile vanished.
"He was too trusting of others, never doubting those closest to him."
"In the fifty bodyguards of his, I was the captain, in charge of the boss’ safety and commanding the other bodyguards."
Arol’s fists clenched in anger as he spoke further.
"Then there was the vice-captain, Juan Moss. That bastard joined a year after me, and the boss treated him like a younger brother, trusting him with the vice-captain position afterwards."
Veins popped on his forehead from anger.
"But that bastard. He betrayed the boss for the chairman, persuading the other bodyguards to listen to him as well."
"The day Boss died, I was with young lady Ariana, helping her with shopping for her parents’ anniversary as Boss had asked me to. But that day, I found out that the boss had died in an accident."
"Of course I didn’t accept it. His bodyguards stay with him all the time, so how could he be the only one to get into an accident?"
"But when all the bodyguards along with Juan Moss transferred to the chairman’s bodyguards, I understood that they all had betrayed the boss and sided with the chairman."
"As for me... I was framed and made the scapegoat. They blamed me for the boss’ death."
"Even when I approached the police to ask them to investigate, they shooed me away, threatening to arrest me if I pestered them with useless things."
Then, Arol took a deep breath, calming down a bit as he continued.
"I approached the bodyguards who had transferred to Titan Crest Entertainment after the boss’s death to find out about the truth in more detail."
"Since these bodyguards had worked under me for all these years, they were close acquaintances, some even close friends. They told me what had happened that day."
"It turned out that the other bodyguards were innocent. It was Juan Moss who was the culprit."
"The bodyguards told me that on that day, as soon as the boss arrived, he went inside. However, Juan Moss barred the bodyguards from following the boss inside, insisting that it was the boss’s order. He said that the boss wanted to spend time alone with his wife on their anniversary."
"The bodyguards trusted him since he was the vice-captain."
"However, after some time, Juan received a call, and after the call, he ordered the bodyguards to go save Miss Ariana, telling them that the call was from me and that Miss Ariana had been kidnapped."
"Of course, he was lying. He made the bodyguards drive to some shady places, acting as if he was searching for young lady Ariana, who was never kidnapped in the first place."
"Soon after...
