Rejected and Pregnant: Claimed By The Dark Alpha Prince
Chapter 812: You healed something in me
While Juniper had feared she wouldn't be able to handle the intensity of the roller coaster, the moment the car plummeted, every worry vanished.
The weight of her past and her anxieties simply escaped her mind, replaced by pure joy and thrill. She found herself screaming at the top of her lungs along with the rest of the riders, fully surrendering to the thrill.
When the ride finally came to a halt, Juniper was buzzing with energy, unable to stop talking as they stepped back onto solid ground.
"Gosh! My heart is pumping so loudly," she told Denzel, her face flushed and her smile brighter than he had ever seen it. "But that was incredible. It was so much fun!"
"We can ride it once more if you want," Denzel suggested, watching her enthusiasm with a satisfied expression.
Juniper shook her head quickly. "No, we should explore the others! There are so many!" she exclaimed, her eyes darting around the park at the spinning lights and towering attractions. "I'll go back to the car and grab my wallet."
Before she could turn away, Denzel caught her hand, stopping her in her tracks. He let go as quickly as he had held it, though the warmth of the gesture lingered. "No need. I have my wallet with me," he said. He then gestured toward a nearby arena where colorful mini-cars were clattering against one another.
After grabbing the tickets, they each climbed into a bumper car. Juniper gripped the wheel with a grin. They spent the next few minutes spiraling across the floor, laughing as they intentionally collided with each other, the impact sending them jolting back into their seats with every hit.
"Ahhh!" Juniper laughed, trying to wheel the bumper car away, but she took one last jolt from Denzel's car just as the power cut and the ride finally hissed to a stop. Their time was up.
Next, they moved to a strength-testing machine, where a heavy punching bag hung waiting for an impact that would send the digital score soaring.
Denzel stepped up first. With a powerful swing, he struck the bag. The machine beeped frantically as the numbers climbed, eventually overriding the previous high score, which drew a round of impressed applause from the surrounding crowd.
Then, it was Juniper's turn.
She stepped forward. Drawing on her Alpha strength, she threw a sharp punch. The bag flew back, but the score fell just a few points short of Denzel's mark.
Even so, the display was impressive enough to bring a fresh wave of cheers from the onlookers, who were clearly surprised by the power behind her strike.
Juniper smiled with pride as she realized just how much strength she truly possessed.
They eventually found a cool, shady spot beneath the spreading branches of a massive tree, tucked away from the main rush of the park.
Denzel returned a few moments later with two cold drinks, handing a chilled cola to her before settling onto the grass beside her.
Taking a long sip, Juniper sighed contentedly. "I haven't had this much fun in such a long time," she said.
As she spoke, a distant memory flickered to life, the smell of candy floss and the sound of a carousel. She remembered being very small, her mother holding her hand and leading her through a similar park. Back then, the world felt vast, safe and kind. ๐ป๐๐๐ฆ๐ธ๐๐ท๐โด๐ฃ๐ฆ๐.๐ธโด๐ฎ
"It's been long since I felt like this," she whispered, tilting her head to look at him. Her eyes were soft, reflecting the dappled sunlight filtering through the leaves above.
"Me too. I haven't been on these rides in a long time," Denzel replied, staring out at the colorful skyline of the park. "Whenever you feel like there's too much in your head, just come here and take it all out."
"How did I never think of this?" Juniper chuckled, adjusting her straw before taking another sip of her cold drink.
As she glanced at him, a realization hit her. In all the seven years she had spent with Dominick, she had never experienced anything like this.
Back then, she was always pretending to be the woman she thought she had to be.
She had forced herself to act like a poised, noble Alpha she-wolf, someone who would never indulge in such "childish" thrills.
She had spent nearly a decade hiding her true self, living under the constant, suffocating weight of being exposed or judged.
Now, sitting under the shade of a tree with cola in her hand, she realized how much of her own life she had missed while trying to be perfect and to be a person she wasn't.
A faint smile carved itself onto her lips, a look of genuine peace that didn't escape Denzel's sharp gaze.
"Why are you smiling all of a sudden?" he inquired, having already finished half of his bottle.
"I missed all of this," Juniper answered softly, her eyes focusing on the distance. "Being myself."
"Weren't you yourself all this time?" Denzel asked, taking another long sip as he watched her.
"Not after my mother passed away," Juniper replied, her voice dropping to a whisper. "Not when I found my mate. Certainly not in those seven years, and honestly, not even in the time since then. I was always playing the role of a perfect Alpha she-wolf who had come from a noble alpha family. I pretended to be something else."
She met his gaze, her smile widening with a warmth.
"Thank you, Denzel. I mean it from the bottom of my heart. I think I never loved myself the way I started to after meeting you. You healed something in me that broke a long time ago."
Denzel looked at her, his expression softening as he leaned back against the trunk of the tree. "Just stay happy, Juniper. Life happens, it throws things at you, but you have to find a way to live in it for your own happiness, not for anyone else's expectations," he stated firmly.
