Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress
Chapter 619: Reward
"Good morning," Ferdinand said in a low voice and pulled her even closer when there was already barely any space between them.
He was always like this. Every time Arabella awakens, if he was beside her, he would be holding her close in one way or another.
It was nice though since it showed how he loved being so close to her.
"Good morning, Ferdinand," Arabella turned around to look at him in the eyes.
She wanted to cuddle a bit more. But when she moved she felt something troublesome already raging so early in the morning.
"I finished all my work last night," Ferdinand said when she met his gaze after she glanced between his legs.
’Why is he saying that? I wasn’t asking. Wait... Does he mean he did all his piled-up work in a single night?!’
"Ferdinand? Have you finished all the work piled up in your office? I mean, like everything that was placed there when you were not around?" Arabella eyed him.
"Yes. I finished everything and then came here as promised," Ferdinand said, emphasizing the word ’promised.’
"You mean like everything that was piled up while you were gone?" Arabella sat up and stared at her husband.
"Yes. Everything," Ferdinand said as if she was asking to verify.
It was then that Arabella learned that she worked like a madman just to complete everything.
’My goodness. I really have to be careful with my words with him since he takes everything literally at times and then overinterprets my words another time.’
Arabella internally facedpalmed.
"I didn’t mean for you to do all that in a single night. I just meant for you to finish some work. The usual amount you do in that amount of time," Arabella clarified because it seems that Ferdinand thought that what she meant when they were talking was that if he finished everything, like literally everything, instead of just the most pressing issues.
She did not want him to have the misconception that she wanted him to work like a madman and complete everything in a single night.
[Does she not want to reward me? Is that why she’s suddenly changing her words now?] Ferdinand pouted.
"I wasn’t trying to change my words," Arabella said and he further pouted.
He sat up and cupped her face to make their eyes meet.
"Did I not do well?" Ferdinand even asked, as if asking to be praised or rewarded.
Arabella sighed. She cannot scold him since he did very well.
"Yes, you did very well. Last night, all I meant was for you to take care of the most pressing issues, but you finished everything instead. You worked really hard," Arabella said gently and caressed his cheek.
Ferdinand eyed her with longing, as he thought that her soft hands on his cheeks felt good but he needed more as a reward from her.
Ferdinand held wrapped his arms around her waist and said, "Then, can I kiss you as much as I want now?"
His eyes were shining as he asked.
Arabella giggled and gave him a peck before saying, "Yes, of course."
Her husband was delighted at her response and captured her lips.
The way he kissed her made Arabella shiver. His kisses were so intense and addictive.
She knew she still had a lot of work to do later but she could not resist when Ferdinand was like this.
And he even did all his work last night too just so he could catch up and still be with her before morning breaks.
Arabella looped her arms around his neck and clung for dear life as Ferdinand ravaged her.
They ended up having a very steamy morning.
Ferdinand was still so energetic despite working all night and just having an hour or two of sleep.
When Arabella wore a high-collared dress that day, Alwin rolled his eyes and healed her without asking any questions, already knowing that the cold was not the reason.
After all, after receiving a lot of mana from Ferdinand, she was no longer as sensitive to the cold as she once was in her past life. Thus, Alwin could easily tell she was trying to hide kiss marks.
"Thank you," Arabella said with a slight blush on her face.
"I really don’t understand lovers. How did you have the time for all that when you two both had a lot of work to do," Alwin sighed deeply.
He was not truly complaining though since the better Arabella and Ferdinand’s relationship was, the better for him since he wanted his lord to be happy.
"We did all the work first," Arabella was defensive. After all, it was not like they were lazing around and just making love all day.
Even today, despite her steaming morning with Ferdinand, she was still on time for breakfast and work.
"Alright. Alright. I don’t need you to explain. I was just saying what was on my mind since you will hear it anyway," Alwin pointed out.
"Just wait until you fall in love, Alwin. You will understand how it feels one day," Arabella said and Alwin cringed as if she just said something incredibly terrible. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
"Ugh. Please don’t curse me. I don’t want to ever fall in love. I don’t need a wife or children whatsoever," Alwin spoke as if being in love was poisonous.
Arabella felt bad since this might be due to Alwin witnessing how Arabella and Ferdinand’s relationship had failed so much in the past life.
Hopefully, Alwin would find his happiness one day instead of always trying to prove himself to Ferdinand and his elders when there was already no need.
They already recognized his abilities and potential and he did not need to prove it to them because they believed in him.
And hopefully, he would be able to move on from the past.
. . .
Arabella and Ferdinand were both busy with work that day. They only met when it was time for dinner.
While they were eating, Ferdinand suddenly said, "I heard you wanted to begin attending the court sessions but things happened and it got delayed."
