Pei Huai must have packed his things well in advance and was waiting at the door of the train compartment.

"Little Jing has been waiting for you for days, constantly asking when you’d arrive."

Upon hearing this, Pei Huai looked down at Pei Jing.

Pei Jing had been looking up at Pei Huai. When he saw Pei Huai looking at him, he immediately smiled, "Daddy!"

Pei Huai reached out and patted Pei Jing’s head, "Daddy’s here. Let’s go home."

The train station isn’t the place for conversation, of course, we should head home first and then talk.

Once out of the train station, they directly got into Chen Bing’s car.

While driving, Chen Bing still made sure to greet Pei Huai.

"Old Pei, you finally made it here. We’ve been waiting eagerly."

His words made everyone laugh.

In the car, were all of Pei Huai’s friends and family, each naturally had something to say to him.

As each person spoke a few words, time quietly slipped away in conversation.

Before they knew it, they were at the doorstep.

Upon hearing Chen Bing announce their arrival, Wang Cuilan looked out the car window.

Seeing they were indeed home, she was a bit surprised.

"Previously, when we first arrived in Beishi, it felt like it took much longer from the train station to home. How did we get here so quickly this time?"

Hearing this, Jiang Ran laughed, "Mom, the time hasn’t changed, nor has the distance, only your state of mind has."

Wang Cuilan thought about it carefully and nodded in agreement.

"Ranran, what you said is true!"

Saying that, Wang Cuilan laughed.

After getting out of the car, Pei Yang quickly unlocked the big front door and pushed it open, "Welcome home!"

Hearing Pei Yang’s words, everyone laughed in unison.

Seeing everyone laugh, Pei Yang joined in laughing too.

This was Pei Huai’s first time at this traditional courtyard home. Although he had heard from Jiang Ran about what it was like and had seen Jiang Ran’s drawings, it was different seeing it in person.

Others carried Pei Huai’s luggage, while he held one hand of Pei Jing and the other of Jiang Ran, the three of them walking at the back of the group.

Once in the living room, Pei Huai sat next to Jiang Ran on the sofa.

Everyone, on seeing this scene, smiled knowingly.

No one said much about anything else.

Pei Yang, still eager, wanted to show Pei Huai around the courtyard, but Wang Cuilan stopped him.

She looked at Pei Yang with a hint of reproach, unsure of what to say.

Pei Yang, the child, sometimes seems smart, but now and then, how can he not see the point?

Even if Pei Huai were to get a tour of the courtyard, Jiang Ran and Pei Jing would be the ones to do so. Why would it need him?

Feeling uncomfortable under Wang Cuilan’s gaze, Pei Yang stood up instead of sitting any longer.

"I’ll go to the kitchen to prepare lunch."

Pei Huai had told them in advance he wouldn’t be dining out today, just enjoying a meal at home with family. So, early in the morning, Pei Yang and Jiang Ran went to the market and brought back a lot of ingredients.

Those that needed pre-preparation had already been cleaned and marinated after purchase.

What was needed now was just to cook all the dishes.
