Rebirth: I have Monopoly System
Chapter 42: Arranging Work and Resuming Training
Unlocking the high-level badge for a top-tier luxury car gave Wu Yun a rather lackluster reward: supercar driving expertise. His Master Level driving skill already included this.
The system explained that rewards from high-level badges were related to the badge’s content, and there was also a chance of receiving a cash reward.
Wu Yun couldn’t wait to start exploring the requirements on his badges. For example, he was very interested in the one for "collecting" beautiful women. The requirement of keeping things purely physical with no strings attached was right up his alley.
It was Friday, and Wu Yun didn’t plan on visiting Wu Ying and the other woman that night. In both his past and current life, Wu Yun had never been to a bar, especially not a nightclub.
Driven by intense curiosity, Wu Yun wanted to go to a bar and check it out. If he could hook up with someone, that would be even better!
However, he’d heard it was easy to get into trouble in places like that and catch something nasty. The thought alone made Wu Yun’s skin crawl. ’I’ll definitely have to make good use of these Detection Glasses.’
The thought made him all the more eager.
Wu Yun opened his office door and first spoke to Wang Hao, who was at the secretary’s desk just outside. "Wang Hao, send all the company information to Li Qiuliang. Oh, and go to HR to get his onboarding paperwork ready. When he comes in on Monday, he can just sign and start working."
After giving Wang Hao his instructions, Wu Yun headed for the R&D department. Greetings followed him all the way.
Wu Yun went to the R&D department head’s office first. As soon as he walked in, he was greeted by the sight of a balding head. The department head, Ding Wei, was buried in his work, typing out code, and didn’t notice Wu Yun’s arrival.
"Ahem." Wu Yun cleared his throat softly, catching Ding Wei’s attention.
"President Wu, when did you get here? Sorry, I didn’t notice," Ding Wei said, looking up and immediately standing.
"It’s fine, it’s fine! I just came by to check on things and tell you something," Wu Yun said, sitting down on the sofa.
"I interviewed a general manager today, and he’ll be starting next Monday. I need you to draw up a first draft of your department’s rules and regulations so we can discuss it at the meeting."
Seeing Ding Wei nod, Wu Yun continued, "That’s all for now. Don’t work yourselves to the bone just to rush the app. Also, you’re a leader now. You don’t have to do everything yourself. Just be responsible for the final review and debugging. Delegate the tasks."
Ding Wei rubbed his nearly bald head and chuckled. "President Wu, it’s just a habit. Besides, time is tight, and I’m used to working alongside the team from my time as a project lead."
"In any case, this applies not just to you but to your subordinates as well. Anyone who works overtime past a certain point must be forced to rest. Oh, and ask them if there are any snacks they want or any recreational items they’d like. The company’s welfare policies aren’t finalized yet, but I can assure you they won’t be bad."
"I’ll let you get back to work. I’m going to talk to the other departments!" Wu Yun nodded to Ding Wei and left the office.
Next, Wu Yun visited the finance and HR departments, repeating his instructions. Afterward, he checked the time and saw it was almost the end of the workday.
"Take care, President Wu!"
Amid the receptionists’ farewells, Wu Yun walked out of the company’s main entrance, leaving several of them whispering among themselves.
Sitting in his car, Wu Yun suddenly remembered something. Bars don’t open until after dinner, and they don’t get busy until after nine or ten.
It was only five-thirty. Sitting in his car, Wu Yun suddenly had no idea what to do. Right before leaving work, he had told Wu Ying and the other woman he wouldn’t be coming over.
Wu Yun realized his entertainment options were far too limited. He was practically an embarrassment to all the other system hosts out there.
’In my past life,’ he thought, ’I would go to the gym or a boxing club right after work.’
At that thought, Wu Yun slapped his forehead, cursing himself for having gotten lazy. Although his body was now data-based and his stats wouldn’t decline even if he never exercised, living without a hobby made him feel like a total deadbeat.
Wu Yun was very familiar with the gyms and boxing clubs in the area. The university alone had a gym, but it was summer vacation, so he probably couldn’t get in.
Going to a gym was just for strength training and building a better physique, which didn’t hold much appeal for Wu Yun now that he had the system.
Boxing clubs, on the other hand, were much more interesting. After all, he had just spent money to upgrade his skills to the Expert Level of a professional fighter—even if it was the lowest tier of professional.
To think was to act—that was Wu Yun’s style. Without another word, he started the Big Black Bull, its roar echoing through the underground garage.
Under the gazes of the crowds heading home from work, the Big Black Bull turned onto Chenglong Avenue and merged into the flow of traffic.
A few of the admin girls from Nirvana Technology saw the Lamborghini. One of them said, "I think I just saw President Wu! In that Lamborghini that just passed."
The others looked in the direction she was pointing, but they only managed to see the low-slung, black rear of the car.
Shida Modern Garden was a residential complex right next to Shida University’s Chenglong Campus. Residents only began moving in in November 2013.
Once the company was on the right track, Wu Yun planned to look at houses in the area to use as his home base during his university years.
Shida Modern Garden was one of the properties he was considering.
After more than half a year of development, many of the retail spaces in Shida Modern Garden’s podium had been leased.
Wu Yun navigated to the surface parking lot with practiced ease. Under the gazes of many onlookers, he opened the flashy scissor doors, swung his legs out, and stood up.
Instead of heading straight for the boxing club, Wu Yun first grabbed a casual bite to eat, then bought a set of summer athletic wear. Only then did he walk toward a boxing club he knew well from his past life.
"Welcome to Vitality Boxing Club!" A familiar face—one that Wu Yun now considered not particularly pretty—appeared from behind the front desk and spoke to him.
The speaker was none other than Wang Min, the wife of the club’s owner, Liu Yi. She was also the club’s Sanda and Free Fighting coach.
The club’s owner, Liu Yi, was a former professional Free Fighting competitor, and a heavyweight at that. After earning some money, he retired and opened Vitality Boxing Club here at Shida Garden, specializing in Sanda and Free Fighting.
This was where Wu Yun had learned the Free Fighting skills he was so proficient with in his past life.
"Hi there, is this your first time?" Wang Min said, standing up. "Are you here for a trial session, or would you like to sign up for a membership?"
Wu Yun glanced around the spacious training floor. A dozen heavy bags hung from the ceiling, and a standard boxing ring stood in the center. It was the same familiar layout.
His eyes scanned the room, and he spotted a few familiar faces from his past life. He smiled at Wang Min. "I’d like to sign up for a membership! A yearly one, please."
Then, pointing to the boxing gloves hanging behind the front desk, Wu Yun added, "And I’ll take a pair of those 14oz Twins gloves in black."
Hearing Wu Yun confidently choose the glove weight and correctly name the brand, Wang Min knew he wasn’t a beginner. "The annual membership is 1,500 yuan, and the gloves are 480 yuan, for a total of 1,980. The membership comes with a free pair of five-meter hand wraps, and the gloves also come with a free pair of five-meter hand wraps."
After paying, Wu Yun chose one black and one white pair of hand wraps, took the key Wang Min gave him, and headed into the locker room.
