Rebirth: I have Monopoly System
Chapter 39: Big Black Bull
"No problem. The mileage and everything check out," Wu Yun said after finishing his inspection.
"In that case, Mr. Wu, shall I help you unload the car, or will you do it yourself? Are you familiar with how to operate a Lamborghini?" Qiao Xin asked, following standard procedure.
Even a regular driver wouldn’t necessarily be proficient with a supercar right away, to say nothing of unloading it—a task where scrapes and scratches happen easily.
"No problem, I can handle it. I’ve driven one before," Wu Yun said, telling a small white lie.
With Wu Yun at the controls, the Lamborghini’s chassis began to slowly rise.
Seeing this, Qiao Xin knew Wu Yun really did have experience with supercars and stopped insisting on helping him drive it off the trailer.
With the truck driver and Qiao Xin guiding him, Wu Yun smoothly reversed the Lamborghini onto the ground.
Qiao Xin came over holding a folder and a fine document pouch. "Mr. Wu, if everything is in order, please sign here. These are the car’s registration, insurance, manuals, and other documents. Please keep them safe."
After Wu Yun signed, Qiao Xin said his goodbyes, climbed into the truck, and started back to Rongcheng.
Watching the pedestrians braving the blazing sun to take pictures, Wu Yun rolled up the window, cranked up the A/C, and flicked on his left turn signal.
The crowd parted. With the roar of a bull, the black Lamborghini shot forward, merging into the distant stream of traffic and vanishing from sight.
The supercar’s roar was especially deafening in the underground parking garage, making the entire structure seem to thunder.
Wu Yun easily reversed into the parking space he had just bought, opened the scissor door, and stepped out.
Wu Yun planned to take an afternoon nap, then go online to search for an office space for his soon-to-be-established company, Nirvana Technology.
For Nirvana Technology, Wu Yun’s top priority was a location near Sichuan Normal University’s Chenglong Campus—the closer, the better.
In his past life, he knew the area around the Chenglong Campus was packed with office buildings and residential complexes, but that was much later. Right now, many of those buildings were still under construction or just in the planning stages.
Wu Yun did an extensive search but found that office space around the university was still scarce. The available options were all low-rise buildings; the Sub-Orbital Center he remembered from the future was still under construction and wouldn’t be handed over until next year.
For now, Wu Yun shortlisted the Jingkai Technology Industry Incubation Park and the Rongcheng Economic Development Headquarters Port, planning to go see them tomorrow for an on-site inspection.
He got up from the sofa and checked the time. It was already around five, so he freshened up and headed out.
The Lamborghini roared as it made its way to the Chengnan Driving School Training Ground. The traffic was getting heavier, but it hardly mattered to Wu Yun. Other drivers kept a wide berth, staring at the "Big Bull" with its Shu A-Y6666 plates. They all figured it had to be some rich guy from Rongcheng coming to Jingyang to show off.
Wu Yun drove into the training ground, the car’s roar attracting the attention of a group of instructors and students who were gathered around, shooting the breeze.
They watched as the black Lamborghini pulled into a parking space. The scissor doors opened, and a figure they all found very familiar stepped out.
Coach Wang’s eyes went wide. "It’s Wu Yun! That kid is loaded! He’s even driving a sports car."
Wu Yun walked over and greeted Coach Wang.
"Wu Yun, are you here to pick up Qi Fei?" Coach Wang asked.
"Yeah, Coach!" Wu Yun said. Noticing the envious gleam in the coach’s eyes, he pulled out the key fob, offered it to him, and said with a grin, "Go on, Coach. Go check it out if you want."
"I... I really shouldn’t," Coach Wang said, worried he might damage such an expensive car.
"Come on, I’ll show you." Wu Yun took back the key and led Coach Wang toward the car, with a large crowd of onlookers following behind.
The Lamborghini’s lights flashed as Wu Yun walked over and opened the driver’s side door.
Coach Wang stood by the door and asked, "Wu Yun, how much did this car cost you?"
Seeing the curious looks from the other coaches and students, Wu Yun walked around to the passenger side, opened the door, and said, "With the 100,000-yuan license plate, it came to a total of 8.3 million."
There was a collective gasp from the crowd. Good grief, the license plate alone could buy a commuter car.
A good eighty percent of driving instructors are car enthusiasts. Wu Yun said to Coach Wang, "Coach, get in and have a look. It’s fine."
Being middle-aged, Coach Wang had a hard time getting into the driver’s seat, even with Wu Yun’s guidance. Wu Yun climbed in as well and started explaining how to operate the cockpit, which looked as complex as an airplane’s.
Following Wu Yun’s instructions, Coach Wang shifted into neutral and revved the engine twice. A thunderous roar erupted from the car.
After taking a few photos in the car, Coach Wang shut off the engine and clambered out of the driver’s seat. "This kind of thing is really just for you young folks," he remarked. "It’s too much of a hassle getting in and out. If I were twenty years younger, I’d love this car too."
"I just love supercars. When I get the chance, I’ll take it to a racetrack and experience the power of a 2.8-second 0-to-60 time," Wu Yun said as he and Coach Wang walked toward a pavilion, leaving a few students and coaches behind to get a closer look at the car.
They chatted for a while, and seeing it was already five-thirty, Wu Yun said to Coach Wang, "Coach, it’s about time to wrap up. I’m going to go get Qi Fei."
He went over to the practice course and easily spotted the VIP training car. Qi Fei was inside, craning her neck and looking around as she lined up for a parallel park.
Not wanting to disturb her, Wu Yun waited until she had smoothly finished parallel parking. Only then did he carefully walk along the edge of a planter and tap on the passenger-side window.
The window lowered, and Qi Fei looked down toward the outside. "Wu Yun, when did you get here? Wait a second, let me finish this lap and we can go."
Wu Yun opened the passenger door and slid in. "I’ve been here for a while," he said. "You looked so focused, I didn’t want to interrupt. My shirt is soaked from waiting for you out there." He turned to show her the large, dark patch of sweat on the back of his white T-shirt.
"Oh, you poor thing. Mwah!" Qi Fei pouted and blew a kiss at him.
Wu Yun grinned cheekily. "Nope, I don’t want that one. I want this one!" He patted his left cheek.
"Dream on! How dare you tease me!" Qi Fei retorted, her face flushing. She flicked on the left turn signal and pulled out of the space. Wu Yun didn’t notice the faint smile playing on her lips.
In no time, Qi Fei had completed the circuit. She parked the training car next to the pavilion, shifting to park, killing the engine, and pulling the handbrake in one fluid motion.
Wu Yun watched from the side and nodded. "Not bad! You’re ready for the test!"
Qi Fei looked smug. "So? How was that? When I get my license, you should let me take your ’little bull’ for a spin."
"Give me a kiss and I’ll let you."
"In your dreams!"
...
After bidding Coach Wang farewell, Wu Yun opened the passenger door for Qi Fei as all the other instructors and students watched.
Some of the students who had asked for Qi Fei’s number and been rejected felt their hearts shatter. ’Of course,’ they lamented internally. ’All the beautiful women are reserved for rich guys.’
Qi Fei was wearing a dress. She gracefully took Wu Yun’s offered hand and sat down first before swiveling her legs into the car.
With a roar, the Lamborghini carried the goddess away from the training ground.
