Rebirth: I have Monopoly System
Chapter 32: Your Watch Isn’t High-Profile, Your Car Is
"Wrap it up for me!" Wu Yun pulled out his bank card and handed it to the saleswoman, but Qi Fei interrupted him. "Xiaoyunzi, what do you think you’re doing? Are you looking down on your big sis? I said I was paying for it myself. Miss, don’t listen to him. Just pretend he’s not here! I’m paying today."
Seeing Qi Fei’s serious expression, the saleswoman apologized and handed the bank card back to Wu Yun. After taking Qi Fei’s card, she walked toward the service counter.
"Xiaoyunzi, we agreed that if you just came shopping with me, you could buy me things, but not right now," Qi Fei said to Wu Yun very seriously.
This showed Wu Yun that Qi Fei was a girl who really had her own mind.
"Alright, I get it." Wu Yun understood what she meant. ’She won’t accept such an expensive gift when our relationship isn’t official.’
The saleswoman came back with a card reader and said, "Ma’am, please enter your PIN."
After Qi Fei finished paying, the saleswoman turned and went back to the service counter.
A moment later, she returned with a carrier bag containing the watch and said, "Ma’am, let’s add each other on WeChat. That way, you can contact me about any after-sales service issues with the watch."
After the two had added each other on WeChat, Wu Yun suddenly said, "Miss, add me too. If I see a nice model online that I want to buy, I’ll tell you about it."
"Hmm?!" Qi Fei’s voice rang out.
"Oh, never mind. I’ll just have my senior tell you then," Wu Yun said, slapping his forehead.
.......
Wu Yun opened the parasol again and walked out, carrying the shopping bag.
"Xiaoyunzi, you’ve got some nerve! How dare you try to add another woman’s WeChat right in front of me," Qi Fei said accusingly.
"Senior, I swear, I just thought it would be convenient to have the salesperson’s contact for buying watches in the future. I feel like this IWC on my wrist no longer matches my status," Wu Yun said, lifting his left hand which was holding the bag, and looking at the watch he had only been wearing for a few days.
"If you want to buy a watch, I can go with you!" Qi Fei said with great interest.
"First, we’ll get you some clothes, and then we’ll eat. There’s a Jaeger-LeCoultre in the IFS across the street, and I haven’t checked it out yet."
Wu Yun then accompanied Qi Fei to Gucci and LV, where they bought several outfits and dresses. Although Qi Fei had claimed she was done pretending and was going on a crazy shopping spree, she was still very rational when it came time to buy.
Wu Yun asked Qi Fei, "Senior, why didn’t you buy more?"
Qi Fei rolled her eyes and said, "You think I’m like you? I just spent a quarter of my lucky money from all these years. It hurts!"
"Even with only three-quarters left, that’s still more than the savings of ninety-nine percent of the people in the country! Senior, you’re still a rich, beautiful heiress!" Wu Yun said flatteringly.
But to Qi Fei’s ears, it sounded like he was saying, ’I, Wu Yun, am in that one percent you can’t surpass.’ She couldn’t help but roll her eyes again.
Qi Fei realized that since she started spending time with Wu Yun, the number of times she’d rolled her eyes was already catching up to the total for the entire previous year.
The parasol wasn’t very big, and Wu Yun was carrying quite a few things. He inevitably had to adjust his posture from time to time, and the smooth feeling of his arm brushing against Qi Fei’s made his already hot body feel even hotter.
"Senior, let’s go eat first! We can eat at IFS, and then I can go buy my watches. I’ve already thought it out. I’m getting two: a sports model for daily wear and a business model for negotiations."
Seeing that Qi Fei agreed, Wu Yun led her toward the crosswalk.
"STOP, THIEF!" A deafening scream came from up ahead.
Everyone turned to look in the direction of the sound. Wu Yun saw a figure sprinting toward them, and pedestrians scattered to get out of the way.
Wu Yun switched the umbrella to his left hand, which was also holding the bags. He put his right arm around Qi Fei’s shoulder to move her out of the way, and just as the thief was passing, Wu Yun suddenly stuck out his foot and tripped him.
The thief lost his balance and was sent flying by his own momentum, landing hard on the ground. He groaned, clearly not getting up anytime soon.
Without a second glance at the thief’s fate, Wu Yun quickly pulled Qi Fei along and kept walking.
As he walked, he silently called up the System’s store and spent a million to upgrade his Free Fighting skill to the expert level, reaching the technical proficiency of an average professional fighter, though perhaps with slightly less physical strength.
He paid no mind to the changes in his balance and experience, also purchasing an expert-level Short Staff Skill, just in case.
After all, thieves like that rarely work alone; there were bound to be accomplices. And while such gangs wouldn’t dare to be too brazen in this day and age, Wu Yun still upgraded one and added another of the two Skills, just to be safe.
After they crossed the road and were inside the mall, Qi Fei, still held by Wu Yun, finally spoke. "Xiaoyunzi, were you just trying to take advantage of your big sis?"
Wu Yun let go of Qi Fei’s shoulder and rubbed his nose, catching a whiff of her light, fresh scent. "It was an emergency! I was just getting you out of there, just in case!"
"So when you were playing the hero, did you even think about the consequences? What if they come after us for revenge?" Qi Fei asked. In truth, she wasn’t scared; gangs that would dare to do something like that in a crowded downtown area were basically nonexistent. She just wanted to know what Wu Yun was thinking.
"Of course I did. But I can take on five guys, no problem. Protecting you would be more than enough," Wu Yun said proudly.
Qi Fei looked at him disbelievingly. "Don’t tell me you’ve actually trained before?"
"Of course! I’ve been training in Free Fighting since I was a kid!"
"Don’t be so reckless next time. No matter how great your kung fu, even you should be afraid of a kitchen knife. I won’t think you’re a coward," Qi Fei’s voice softened, and the mix of concern and criticism in her tone touched Wu Yun’s heart. It had been a long time since anyone had cared about him like that.
"Okay, okay, I’ll listen to you!" Wu Yun wanted to pinch Qi Fei’s cheek, but he held back again.
.......
After lunch, the two headed straight for the Jaeger-LeCoultre store in IFS.
While they were eating, Wu Yun had been browsing Jaeger-LeCoultre watches online. He was torn between two sports models and asked Qi Fei to help him choose between the Jaeger-LeCoultre Aston Martin Series Q192243A and the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Compressor Extreme W-Alarm Q1972472.
In the end, they both agreed on the Aston Martin Series Q192243A.
Then, he chose a Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Series 5023402, which was suitable for formal wear.
Because he had already picked out the models he wanted, it took them less than 15 minutes from entering the Jaeger-LeCoultre store to leaving with the bags.
The Aston Martin Series Q192243A for daily wear cost Wu Yun 320,000, while the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Series 5023402 was several tiers higher, costing 1.75 million.
System Experience +2.04 million. Character Level 5 (15,621,087 / 100,000,000)
3x spending rebate. BEEP! Rebate has reached its cumulative limit. Rebate: 4.1 million (32,400,000 / 32,400,000). Balance: 53,229,461.5 yuan.
Wu Yun looked at his experience. It hadn’t even been a few days since his last level-up, and he had already spent over 15 million. He’d already forgotten where all the money had gone. ’I’m really getting full of myself,’ Wu Yun thought.
"Senior, is this watch too flashy?" Wu Yun asked.
"It’s fine, it’s not that flashy. A lot of people might not recognize the watch, but they’ll definitely recognize your car!" Qi Fei said, speechless.
