Ranaway From Wedding, Fell into Tycoon's Love Trap
Chapter 1183: Whatever Happens, Dad Will Shoulder It For You
Seeing his daughter choking back tears, Mr. Linton felt even more upset. He leaned over to take a few tissues from the coffee table and handed them to his daughter. "Wipe them away."
He stuffed the tissues into his daughter’s hand, urging her to wipe away her tears.
"Dad!"
Amelia Linton did not use the tissues. Instead, she suddenly turned sideways and threw herself into Callix Linton’s arms. At this moment, she was like a little child who had been wronged, seeking comfort in her father’s embrace.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Callix Linton opened his arms and hugged Amelia tightly. Just like he used to when she was small, he embraced her, and with one hand, he patted her back. "Whatever it is, Dad will carry it for you; you don’t need to worry."
Even though he’s now in his eighties, his shoulders are still capable of carrying many burdens.
Resting against her father’s chest, Amelia cried uncontrollably. Hearing her father’s words only made her cry harder.
Callix Linton lowered his head and looked at his daughter, who was crying until her face was wet with tears. He decided not to persuade her to wipe her tears away like he did before. Instead, he tightened his embrace, letting her cry as much as she needed.
Auntie Li was bringing over a steaming cup of water and witnessed this touching scene. It made her feel bad as well. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
So as not to disturb the father and daughter in the living room, she decided not to enter, and quietly turned around to return to the kitchen. As she reached the stairs, she saw Easton Holmes coming downstairs, which made her stop instinctively.
"She hasn’t left yet?" Easton Holmes asked before Auntie Li could speak, immediately inquiring about Amelia Linton.
Auntie Li was already used to Easton Holmes referring to Amelia indirectly. As soon as he finished asking, she nodded in response. "She’s crying in the living room."
She only mentioned the crying in the living room but didn’t say anything else.
"Oh." Easton Holmes uttered quietly then walked towards the living room. After a few steps, he suddenly turned around, calling out to Auntie Li as she headed to the living room, "Auntie! Hand me that cup of water."
Upon hearing Easton calling for her, Auntie Li stopped instinctively. She was just about to turn around when he approached her from her left side, taking the cup from her hands simultaneously.
"You can rest now."
Easton said to Auntie Li as he took the cup and headed back towards the living room.
Family is always family; the bond of blood cannot be severed.
As she watched him stride towards the living room, Auntie Li felt a sense of relief and turned towards her room.
"Sob-sob..."
Approaching the living room door, Easton Holmes heard Amelia’s sobbing, and his expression changed markedly. His hand, which was holding the cup, tightened involuntarily, and his steps quickened unconsciously.
Amelia nestled in her father’s arms cried like a child, entirely unaware that someone had entered. She continued to cry unrestrainedly, with such passion and vigor.
Callix Linton immediately noticed Easton Holmes walking in and gestured silently for him not to come in.
Mr. Linton didn’t want his daughter to feel embarrassed and promptly signaled his grandson not to enter. As a mother in such a disheveled and vulnerable state, she certainly wouldn’t want her son to see her like this. This was a lesson he had learned over many years as a parent.
Easton Holmes understood perfectly and stood at the door, staring at Amelia for a moment. Then, holding the cup, he quietly left.
