The information Fengyu got was right - this refiner focused on auxiliary items rather than weapons.

Looking at the pendants, each of them looked... normal. They looked like mortal items, something you could find casually tossed on the ground with no one picking it up.

Although there was a protective glass covering it, one could still peer in with their spiritual power to inspect the item. No matter how many times Fengyu turned it over, he didn’t see a single rune, a single thing that made this item look like it was more than just a pendant.

The information to the side said otherwise - a peak grade first stage item that could cast a protective shield against an upcoming strong projectile and fully block it.

This was a rather specific item effect compared to the common effect of blocking a deadly attack. But thinking about it, it made sense. The more specialised the item, the better its effect. Since it only focuses on projectiles, it should be able to protect the user against any projectile in the first stage.

Fengyu continued to inspect this item and was slowly able to glean something from it - the material it was made of was a mid-grade first stage wood. Further specification couldn’t be seen, but just this was enough for Fengyu to gain another understanding.

The refiner, with an inspiration so bright, should be able to create near second stage items or even real second stage items. So, why didn’t they do so? Naturally, because the market for these items was restricted, and selling them openly would attract too much attention. The way her shop was built now was more oriented to connections and opportunities for those passing by.

Yet even then, the pendant in front of Fengyu was sold for 10.000 spirit stones... someone who didn’t know how precious it was would be shocked and scold the shopkeeper and refiner for being greedy.

Fengyu ignored all this, his mind still focused on the fact that a mid-grade material could result in a peak-grade item. The refiner crossed two minor stages with their skill - the first likely fully dependent on their skill in refining, and the second based on their strong inspiration.

He let go of this pendant with his spiritual control and inspected the others. As expected, each of these pendants was focused on defense, but each of them had a different focus. Some were protecting against physical attacks, others against spells, and some even against poison and miasma.

Such specialisation was actually the best and most suitable for battle masters who were extremely careful in their endeavours and would observe and learn about their targets before approaching them.

If Fengyu was a battle master, he would definitely do so and purchase based on his needs. As a creation master... his path was naturally to buy all of these pendants!

Unfortunately, he had money but not enough to waste 100.000 spirit stones out of nowhere. Not to mention, they were still first stage items, clearly not what he looked for.

Besides these pendants, the effect enhancement item shelf contained mostly elemental enhancement orbs - items focused solely on enhancing the power of a certain element. It’s just that these orbs didn’t enhance a single power but combined powers. Fire and wood, fire and wind, earth and fire, earth and wood, wood and water, water and wind, and so on.

’Orbs and pearls are some of the most difficult items to refine - they have to be perfect spheres through and through, without a single mistake. Then, they also have to be refined and runes have to be engraved on them. Only by considering all parts can one truly achieve the peak grade.

Among all enhancement items, the best enhancements are elemental specific enhancement materials: a wood staff for wood, a clay or stone vase for earth, pearls for water, a lamp for fire, and a flag for wind. These are the most common enhancement items for the respective elements.

Orbs are more like general use enhancement items - they’re good but not the best. Who would’ve thought that because of their general fit, you could use one item to enhance two elements, and fuse them on the spot?’

Clearly, this approach would lead to a higher specification, making it less popular. But this approach was more like a demonstration for cultivators to see, telling them, "See? I can craft an orb enhancing and fusing two elements together! Come, let me craft you the most fitting item!"

He didn’t know how many cultivators would take this, but looking at the price... it was actually quite heinous, at 35.000 spirit stones, triple or double that of usual single element items.

Fengyu merely smiled at it, thinking that this would also be suitable for him, but the best case would be to have an orb that enhanced... all elements!

Finally, his eyes landed on the section that most interested him.

Each of these items would be unique on their own, having various effects rarely seen outside.

Fengyu’s flute was of this category, which was why he was a bit obsessed with them.

On this shelf, there were only two items, a bit of a surprise -

A Taoist Brush and a Jade Tablet.

He read the information written next to them rather than trying to find out on his own, as they were too difficult to discern.
