Progenitor Vampire: I Have Many Skills!
Chapter 695: A traitor infiltrated

The impatient sound of the door made Matthew open his eyes. "It’s open," he said.
Lennon opened the door carefully and, after checking that only Matthew was inside and that no one was behind him, closed it.
He then approached Matthew, who was sitting in a chair, rocking calmly as if what he had experienced a moment ago meant nothing.
Lennon was surprised that he could remain so composed and calm. ’As expected of a true talent without equal...’
If he had to compare him to the young masters in the city, it would be difficult to find a parallel. Even Miss Juliet tended to lose her composure when she went through a difficult situation.
Now he admired this young man even more.
"Young sir, I’m glad you’re okay and calm."
"It’s just a small thing; I’m glad you are. It would have been unfortunate if you had died without achieving your goals."
"Haha..." Lennon smiled sheepishly, not understanding how he could be so calm. He still felt his legs shaking.
"Young Master, the objective from before..." He stopped midway, knowing that Matthew understood.
"It was you," Matthew said casually. "Although the guards made it look like it was me, it’s to alert the elders. They wouldn’t allow a foreign participant to die at the hands of assassins in the city."
"I see." Lennon swallowed hard. "They really are professional assassins..."
He was almost sure they were from that dark guild, but he had no way of proving it and making it believable. ’It’s not like I have the body of one of them...’ He sighed.
But suddenly his mind went blank when he heard a heavy thud hitting the ground and saw a corpse falling in front of him.
"Take it to the elders yourself. Tell them to investigate it, but that you believe they belong to the dark guild. Tell them you overheard them talking when they tried to kill you 30 minutes ago and that it was intercepted by someone you hired, so you want the information soon, but don’t mention my name."
Lennon looked at the corpse at his feet. If it weren’t for Matthew’s calm voice that served to calm him down, he would surely have jumped back in fear.
But now he was in shock, wondering how it was possible that this killer was here... The clothes were the same, and he was human, not a vampire.
’Shit...’ He looked up and saw Matthew had stopped paying attention to him and was staring at the distant stars through the window, still leaning back in his chair.
’I underestimated him.’ He swallowed hard.
"What are you standing there for? We need you to tell me information about them," he said, and turned to look at him. "And remember this very well."
His eyes sparkled. "The best information is the information they don’t give you. Whatever happens in there, come and tell me. Especially... if they don’t tell you anything."
Lennon swallowed hard when he saw those dangerous eyes and couldn’t help but nod quickly. "I’ll do as you say, Young Master," he said, bowing and leaving with the corpse.
Once Matthew could no longer hear his footsteps, he approached the window and looked at the group of guards gathered below. An elder was among them.
Although he didn’t care about the elder, he simply looked at a figure moving around in his enormous armor and weapon, which naturally attracted attention.
At some point, that man frowned and then looked up.
Their eyes met, and Matthew nodded to him.
Maverick below frowned even more, but nodded slowly so that no one noticed.
’He suspects there are traitors in the circle of elders, right?’ he thought and approached where the elder and Sir Lennon were talking about what had just happened.
"Mr. Lennon, let me take that body of human bastards to the elders. I’ll take care of bringing you the good news. But I can’t let you go out tonight, it’s too dangerous, and we can’t afford to lose a businessman as prestigious as you."
Lennon frowned. "Elder..." He wanted to speak, but then Maverick appeared from the side.
"Let me see him," he ordered, without even showing respect to the Elder.
’He’s one of those bastards. I’m sure of it.’ Maverick nodded.
He didn’t understand what was going on here and how Matthew could have killed assassins in two different places at the same time, but he was sure of one thing.
He couldn’t leave this in someone else’s hands.
He looked at Lennon and nodded.
"Since you were the one attacked, Mr. Lennon, I hope you will accompany me. I assure you I will give you an answer," he said.
"Mr. Maverick, that is completely out of the question. We can’t take Mr. Lennon when there are so many assassins in the city. One mistake and we would lose a great businessman!"
"Elder Shaw." Maverick interrupted him and stared at him, raising his sword to stab it into the ground. "From today until we find these traitors, by order of the Council of Elders, White Edge City has activated Martial Law." He said and took out the order in his hand, signed by most of the elders who led the Council of Elders.
"No minister, elder, businessman, or clan leader can oppose this. The traitors will be treated with cruelty, just as these damned invading murderers will be treated. And I, as Leader of the City’s Armed Forces, have the power to treat anyone who opposes this law as a traitor."
"From today, please step aside. The armed forces will take control and give you an explanation when all this is over."
His words left no room for refutation, much less intervention. The leaders had decreed martial law, and he, as a Second-Level Elder, could only remain silent.
Even so, Maverick did not want to be too rude to the elder, so he said a few words to soften his tone and reassure him.
"I will personally escort Mr. Lennon, and we will investigate this case thoroughly. I swear on my name that nothing will happen to him, so you can rest assured, Elder."
The elder frowned, but couldn’t say anything else. Faced with that command, he had to bow his head and agree.
Maverick took control of the situation and soon took Lennon away with the body.
He had many questions for Lennon, such as, Where on earth did he meet Matthew? Did he know he was standing before the greatest legend to ever walk the actual era? Did he understand the magnitude of the one he had invited to join the tournament? He had so many questions... but he couldn’t ask any of them.
