Pregnant Cultivator, Doted by Big Boss
Chapter 276 - 274: Many Years Passed in the Blink of an Eye (Part 1)
Celeste Grant nodded slightly.
"Mhm... Sooner or later, your father-in-law is bound to see your sincerity."
Hearing this, Damon Grant nodded eagerly. "I think so too. I’ll work hard and try to marry Wanda as soon as I can."
He no longer doubted Wanda’s feelings for him.
As for whether he himself liked Rowan Forrest, was there even a need to ask? Of course he cherished her. He might look as fierce as a demon, but he definitely wasn’t blind. Wanda had fair skin, a beautiful face, and a gentle nature. Any man who didn’t like her wouldn’t be a man at all.
Ever since they got together and he decided he wanted to become Taoist Companions with Wanda, Damon Grant had been working hard to gain her father’s approval.
However, as an elder of an Immortal Sect, William Forrest had absolutely no fondness for Demon Cultivators. Upon learning that his daughter had been tricked by the sweet nothings of a Demon Cultivator, he resolutely refused to approve the marriage.
It wasn’t just William Forrest who disapproved of the marriage; the Primal Heaven Sect wouldn’t agree to it either. But he didn’t care whether others approved or not. Damon Grant only wanted to win over his father-in-law, so Wanda wouldn’t be wronged. As for outsiders, what the hell did he care about them?
Starting half a year ago, Damon Grant began formally visiting his future father-in-law with Rowan Forrest.
Rowan Forrest’s father was William Forrest, an elder of the Primal Heaven Sect. The first time he met the parents, his father-in-law chased him down and beat him, even threatening to break his legs.
It wasn’t that Damon Grant couldn’t fight back. It was because the elder was his beloved’s father, so he couldn’t lay a hand on him. He could only passively take the beating.
’My father-in-law is actually pretty decent to me,’ Damon Grant thought. ’He only said he’d break my legs, not that he’d kill me. If it were me, and some bastard dared to whisk away my daughter without my permission, I’d make sure his Divine Soul was obliterated.’
For the better part of the last year, no matter how much Rowan Forrest’s parents disliked him, Damon Grant had sincerely gone to ask for her hand in marriage. In six months, he had gone to the gates of the Primal Heaven Sect to propose 33 times, and each time, his father-in-law appeared and beat him back.
Many times, despite being black and blue, he would still foolishly call out, "Father-in-law!" and add, "Please take care of yourself. I’ll pick another auspicious day to come and propose again." 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
As for his father-in-law, the phrase he heard most often was, "Get lost! I would rather die than let my family marry a Demon Cultivator! Give up on that idea!"
He pinched his fingers together, calculating.
’An auspicious day is coming up in three days.’
’It’s about time I went to propose again.’
’Lately, my father-in-law hasn’t been chasing me down to beat me. That’s a good start. I just have to keep at it.’
Today, they were making and eating dumplings at the Bloodfiend Den, and he had secretly brought Wanda over. The next time he saw his father-in-law, he was definitely in for a beating.
His gaze shifted to his beloved. He saw her turn her head to the side, smiling at him.
"Brother Rook, you have flour on your face. Let me wipe it for you."
’Wanda is so beautiful when she smiles.’
’It’s worth getting a beating from my father-in-law for this. Let him hit me. I’m tough anyway. At worst, I’ll spit up a bit of blood, cultivate for a couple of days, and I’ll be fine.’
’Look on the bright side,’ he thought. ’Why does my father-in-law only pick me to beat, and not others? It’s because I’m his son-in-law.’
"Thanks, Wanda."
"Let’s make some extra. When I take you back, I’ll bring some for my father-in-law and his family so they can try them."
"Brother Rook, you’re so good to me."
As they were talking, they looked up and saw The Exalted One walking over. Everyone stopped what they were doing and immediately bowed in greeting.
"Greetings, Exalted One."
"Your subordinate greets The Exalted One."
Javier Sinclair’s figure slowly approached. His gaze swept over everyone present before landing on Celeste Grant, who was not far away. He strode over and stopped beside her.
He spoke in a low voice, "What do you need me to do?" ’Though he felt such trivial matters were truly unnecessary,’ he thought, ’since my wife called me over, I must be here to help.’
Celeste Grant, who was in the middle of filling a dumpling, looked up at him. Seeing that he knew to offer his help, she nodded in satisfaction. "Perfect timing. Roll out some dumpling wrappers for me."
His wife wanted him to roll dumpling wrappers. Javier Sinclair nodded slightly. "Mhm, alright."
Just as he was about to use Magic, he heard Celeste Grant say, "You can’t use Magic. You have to do it by hand. Otherwise, you miss out on the process, and it loses its meaning."
’What’s the difference?’ he wondered. ’It’s something that can be done with a single spell, yet we have to dither around here. Forget it. Whatever she says, goes. It’s just rolling dumpling wrappers. Not a big deal. I’ll finish this in no time.’
He nodded slightly, picked up a rolling pin, and got to work.
It looked so simple, but the moment he tried, he failed. Staring at the dumpling wrapper in his hand that refused to cooperate, his initial calm expression slowly turned grim.
’I can’t believe it. I’ve dominated The Cultivation World for centuries, yet I can’t even roll a single dumpling wrapper properly. If word of this got out, my reputation would be ruined.’
"Dammit, this stupid wrapper is defying me."
He grabbed it, rolled it back into a ball, and continued to roll, his eyes glaring as if he were staring down an enemy he was about to kill.
Seeing this, Celeste Grant couldn’t help but chuckle.
She leaned in closer to him and whispered, "You’re so cute, Archfiend."
Javier Sinclair blushed.
He cleared his throat.
"What nonsense are you talking about?"
’I’m a Demon, you know.’
’A very fierce one at that.’
Celeste Grant said with a smile, "You’re doing it wrong. It should be like this... I’ll teach you." Celeste Grant took the rolling pin from his hand and began to show him how to press the dough. "You have to press around the edge in a circle, like this. That way it will be thin, flat, and round."
Javier Sinclair stared at her hands, watching the perfectly rolled wrapper, and felt that he understood.
"Let me try."
"Okay."
Celeste Grant handed the rolling pin back to him.
"Go on... Just press the dough like I did."
"A trivial matter."
He took the rolling pin and began to practice. Following Celeste Grant’s instructions, he actually succeeded this time, although it still looked a bit ugly. But it was good enough to be used for a dumpling.
Celeste Grant gave him a thumbs-up.
"Not bad. To do this well on your first time rolling wrappers... Husband, you’re amazing. You get a thumbs-up from me."
The only words echoing in Javier Sinclair’s ears were "Husband, you’re amazing." He continued to press and roll the dough nonstop, but said arrogantly, "This isn’t difficult."
From a short distance away, Nerida walked over.
"Madam, I’ll help too."
"Nerida, you can fill dumplings with me."
"Yes, Madam."
Next, through the combined efforts of everyone at the Bloodfiend Den, the finished dumplings piled up like mountains in the plaza. It was a bitterly cold day, so there was no need for flash-freezing; the freshly made dumplings would freeze solid on their own after a little while. This meant they could be piled up without any issues. Of course, when they stacked the dumplings, they did so on a clean layer of gauze spread across the plaza ground.
By the time they finished making all the dumplings, the Demon Cultivators present were covered in white from all the flour. It wasn’t just them; even Javier Sinclair had a little on his face and sleeves.
"Haha, Old Man Lawson, come here, let me wipe your face!"
"Old Man Warren, I’ll wipe your head for you..."
Elder Lawson and Elder Warren were playfully messing with each other, and soon they were both dusty and disheveled.
You could tell they were all very happy today.
