Pregnant Cultivator, Doted by Big Boss
Chapter 219 - 217: No Matter Who You Are, Today’s Grudge Will Be Repaid
She couldn’t help but laugh at the thought.
Little did Jocelyn Grant know that her current troubles were only the beginning. The real show was set to unfold over the next two weeks.
After Sean Lockwood’s courtyard was reduced to ruins, the disciples of Redleaf Peak rebuilt it for him on the same spot.
This time, just in case, Sean Lockwood set up an Array around his courtyard. That way, he would know the moment anyone approached.
Jocelyn Grant had injured her leg, but thanks to a timely dose of High-level Elixir Pills, she made a full recovery after just three days of rest. Sean Lockwood had broken two bones, but with his high Cultivation, he was perfectly fine after taking some Healing Pills and cultivating through the night.
Sean Lockwood’s mind was set on one thing: cultivation.
He had already lost face; the most important thing now was to increase his Cultivation. Once he became a Nascent Soul Stage Cultivator, who would dare to bring up this incident again?
The very night Jocelyn Grant’s leg healed...
Sean Lockwood pulled her into his arms, and they tumbled into bed together.
Their physical constitutions were complementary, allowing their Cultivation to increase rapidly whenever they cultivated together. Jocelyn Grant was eager to grow stronger, and since she was with her Taoist Companion, she was very willing. During their dual cultivation, their Cultivation levels surged.
「That night.」
In Sean Lockwood’s room.
"Sean..."
"I want more."
Just as they were lost in their passion...
Jocelyn Grant suddenly smelled something burning. She couldn’t help but ask, "Sean... do you smell that?"
Sean Lockwood froze.
He frowned slightly.
"Something’s burning... and there’s smoke!"
It took them a moment to react. When they turned to look, they saw smoke had somehow filled the room, and they could see the glow of fire outside.
Jocelyn Grant realized.
"There’s a fire!"
As they spoke, they scrambled out of bed. The room was indeed on fire—or rather, the fire outside was even larger. They could see the blaze from where they stood.
"Damn it... How did a fire just start out of nowhere?"
Jocelyn Grant was also stunned.
’It felt like someone was targeting me.’
’Who could possibly hate seeing me happy this much? And why does it always happen at times like these?’
’If there was one person who would constantly target her, it could only be...’
’Celeste Grant... It must be her.’
Rage burned in Jocelyn Grant’s heart. ’Celeste Grant, you’ve already ruined me! What more could you possibly want? Even if I wronged you back then, haven’t I suffered enough?’
’This was all your fault, so why am I always the one who gets hurt?’
This just goes to show, sometimes the person who knows you best isn’t family, but your enemy.
Learning from their last public humiliation, the first thing they did after getting up was use Magic to dress themselves.
They then tried to leave, only to find they were trapped.
The door to their room wouldn’t open. Neither would the windows.
Refusing to accept it, Jocelyn Grant channeled her Cultivation, intending to force the door open. But the moment she did, the scene before her eyes shifted dramatically.
They were in a dark, empty space. Above them, countless stars swirled and shifted.
Jocelyn Grant looked around, bewildered. Thankfully, Sean was still beside her, which calmed her nerves slightly.
"What is this?"
Looking at the scene before them...
Sean Lockwood’s expression turned grim.
"We’re trapped in an Array."
Sean Lockwood, being well-versed, recognized the Array. However, he had never studied them in depth. Even though he knew what it was, he had no idea how to dismantle it. The only option now was to wait for an opportunity and try to shatter it with brute force and their Cultivation.
"The Array in our courtyard has been altered," he explained. "It’s been turned into a Six Nine Star Killing Array. To be able to modify this Array so silently and set up such a deadly trap, our opponent must be at least a Sixth Grade Array Master."
Sean Lockwood glanced at Jocelyn Grant and tossed her a Protective Dharma Treasure.
"Jocelyn, be careful."
Looking at the Magic Treasure in her hand...
Jocelyn Grant was deeply moved.
"Sean... thank you."
"No one has ever been this good to me."
If Celeste Grant could have heard that, she would have rolled her eyes and scoffed, ’What about your dear Brother Hawthorne? He betrayed his family for you... only to die by your hand in the end. Wasn’t he good enough for you?’ This just goes to show that some people are born faithless, yet always see themselves as devoted lovers who have given their all.
At that moment, Jocelyn Grant gazed at Sean Lockwood, her face filled with emotion.
’Sean thought of me first, even in a moment of danger. He must really love me. It’s my good fortune to become Taoist Companions with a man like him.’
’Sean, I will never betray you in this life.’
"Jocelyn, take care of yourself."
"You too, Sean."
Their eyes met, a thousand unspoken words passing between them. It was as if they had found their fated soulmate. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
Just then, Sean Lockwood looked around and saw the Array shift once more.
He stared into the empty air before him and called out, "Who goes there? I do not recall making an enemy so grievous as to warrant such an elaborate killing array. What is your purpose?"
He paused for a moment before continuing, his tone hardening. "This is the Primal Heaven Sect. It’s not too late to turn back. I can spare your life."
As soon as he finished speaking,
A voice echoed from all around them.
The speaker had a thick, regional accent.
"Spare yer life?" The voice cackled. "Heh, you’d best be worryin’ ’bout yer own neck. I’ve already made my move, what’re you still standin’ there yappin’ for?"
The moment the voice faded, Sean Lockwood and Jocelyn Grant, still trapped in the Array, watched as the stars above began to transform. The very air around them seemed to thicken, making it hard to breathe.
Before Sean could say another word, the stars flashed, morphing into a torrential rain of swords that shot straight for them.
WHOOSH—
WHOOSH WHOOSH—
Faced with the overwhelming deluge of starry sword-rain, the two trapped in the Array hastily gathered their Cultivation to defend themselves.
A long spear appeared in Sean Lockwood’s hand—his personal weapon.
With the spear in his hand,
He swung.
Countless swords of light were shattered into nothing.
They destroyed one wave of the sword-rain, only for another to take its place.
The Array shifted relentlessly, the killing formation unleashing one attack after another. Before long, Jocelyn Grant’s stamina gave out. The swishing swords began to cut countless bloody gashes across their bodies.
In just a few moments... their white robes were stained crimson with blood.
Sean Lockwood was furious.
"I don’t care who you are! I will repay this debt one day!"
’Was it just his imagination, or had he been incredibly unlucky lately? How could something like this happen to him here, in the Primal Heaven Sect, on his own turf?’
’It was the kind of bad luck people get for leaving home on an inauspicious day, but he hadn’t even gone outside.’
’Damn it all!’
Inside the Six Nine Star Killing Array, Jocelyn Grant and Sean Lockwood fought for their lives.
Suddenly, another sword swept in from their left front—aimed directly at Jocelyn Grant.
’It’s so strong...’
’I can’t block it.’
As danger loomed...
Jocelyn Grant panicked. On pure instinct, she shoved Sean Lockwood, who was right beside her, forward. A moment later, countless blades of light pierced through his chest.
He stared at Jocelyn Grant, his face a mask of disbelief.
"You..."
Jocelyn Grant looked utterly helpless. She hadn’t meant to do it; she had just panicked. "I’m sorry, Sean... I didn’t mean to."
He had protected her at every turn, yet at the most critical moment, this woman had thrown him in front of the blades to save herself.
Wounded by the Array,
Sean Lockwood coughed up a mouthful of blood.
Jocelyn Grant cried.
