Playing inventor in a cultivation world
Chapter 88: Joint Mission (2)
The Sky Bisons landed on the grassland and began grazing while the disciples scouted the area.
"This place looks really peaceful, don’t you think?"
Fellin smiled as he walked up to Seraph.
The two men stood side by side, looking into the distance.
"Indeed. But I don’t really think it’s that peaceful. There’s always danger everywhere."
Seraph answered, glancing back at Ariana and Tamar who were chasing after Dera and Sera.
"You’re right. We still have to be guarded."
Seraph patted his shoulder, then turned away.
"Wait." Fellin stopped him, then asked. "Do you know about Ariana’s Divine Body?"
Seraph paused and frowned. "A Divine Body? What’s that?"
He had never heard something like that before, and he guessed it was something interesting.
"You don’t know? A Divine Body is a special physique that the heavens grant a person. It gives them very special abilities."
Listening to Fellin’s explanation, Seraph was intrigued.
"Oh? Is that so?"
He rubbed his hands, then looked at Ariana.
"So... what’s her Divine Body like?"
Fellin shook his head. "Honestly, we don’t know. My brother and I tried to search records about it, but we don’t really have much information on Divine Bodies at large."
Seraph nodded quietly, then asked. "What made you guys sure she has a Divine Body?"
Fellin glanced at the silver-haired girl, "When she broke through to the Advanced Stage, a blue lotus flower manifested on her forehead. That’s definitely a Divine Body."
Seraph nodded, then fell silent. ’Halo, what is that Divine Body?’
["You mean her Divine Body? It hasn’t even manifested at all. Once it manifests, her cultivation speed would rise like something else."]
Suppressing the urge to facepalm, he spoke to Halo in a frustrated voice.
’That’s not what I asked you. What is her Divine Body?’
There was a moment of silence before he received an answer.
["Well, if that femboy there is right, then it should be the Frost Lotus Divine Body."]
Seraph’s intrigue deepened. ’Explain. What are the benefits?’
["Nothing too great. Control over water and ice, healing, and smooth cultivation. Nothing remarkable."]
He smirked, sensing what Halo was doing.
’Trying to downplay it, hm? Not bad.’
["Tch..."]
Ignoring it, Seraph refocused on reality, just in time to see Sylvia call out to him.
"Yes?"
He walked up to her, his smile full of curiosity.
Sylvia glanced at his handsome face and attractive eyes, then turned away with a snort.
"I... I wanted to ask you something."
Her expression eased, and she looked hesitant.
"Go on," Seraph smiled.
"Are you sure my sister will be fine? I haven’t seen anything make her condition that bad."
Seraph smiled and nodded. "It’s okay. She’ll be back to full health once I do the last treatment."
Although she knew that, hearing it from him somehow relieved her.
"Then what about you? Will you be fine too?"
Seraph grinned brightly. "Of course. I’ll be fine. It’s nothing that hard. I’ll probably just take a longer nap."
Sylvia nodded, but she felt that something was off. Why was he smiling so brightly, but his eyes were dark?
Before she could think about it, she heard an explosion in the distance, followed by Dera’s enraged roar.
"You bastards!"
The two didn’t hesitate and dashed at the source, arriving in less than two seconds.
Sylvia’s expression turned cold as she spotted ten Inferno Sect disciples standing not far away from the team of seven.
Dera had a fuming expression on her face, barely held back by her sister.
"What is going on here?"
Fellin asked the Inferno Sect disciples coldly, his expression completely unfriendly.
The Inferno Sect disciple who stood at the front smiled and answered.
"We were passing by this area when this rude brat..."
He pointed at Dera, then continued.
"... told us to scram and threatened to attach. So naturally, I gave her the best beating I could give a rude junior."
Fellin frowned and turned to Dera. "Is that true?"
The girl growled in anger. "Yes, but damnit! He just attacked out of the blue."
Fellin was about to say something when he felt a cold hand land on his shoulder.
"Step back. I’ll handle this."
Seraph stepped forward, facing the Inferno Sect disciples with an empty smile.
"She told you to scram, didn’t she?"
There was a moment of silence, and the disciples looked at each other.
"Hahaha! You’re right. She did. Isn’t that rude? This place doesn’t just belong to the Soul Cross Sect, right? Wait a minute. You guys even monopolized a lot of good stuffs on these mountains. Really disappointing."
The expressions on the faces of the disciples behind Seraph darkened, but the young man was still smiling.
"In that case, you should scram."
Hearing his answer, the Inferno Sect disciples froze, then glared at him.
"What the hell? Are all disciples of your sect this rude? You don’t know who—"
Suddenly he felt a tap on his shoulder and paused. A frightened disciple quickly whispered something to him, and his expression changed.
Seraph also recognized the disciple and smiled at him.
"Sam, right? I remember you. Sylvia, look at our old friend."
Sylvia looked at the young man and also recognized him.
"Damned scumbag."
Sam, the disciple who had fought Seraph and Sylvia over the dragon egg years back.
Unfortunately for him, he was still in the Advanced Stage and hadn’t broken through at all.
"Hmph! You guys dared bully my junior brother?!"
The lead disciple roared angrily, then suddenly smiled.
He looked at the Sky Bisons, then grinned.
"If you want to appease me, then you should kill one of those beasts and cook it for us. Then, I might consider forgiving you."
Hearing his threat, Seraph chuckled.
"Oh? You want one?"
He took a step forward, his aura slowly rising as the wind blew strongly.
"He’s angry."
Ariana muttered, clutching Tamar’s sleeve. The other disciples were confused, but only Sylvia understood.
’Sorry, Sam. I’m afraid I can’t stop him from killing you today.’
She closed her eyes, already knowing the fate of the group before her.
"All of you, kneel."
