Playing inventor in a cultivation world
Chapter 86: Kael
Just as Seraph had sensed, the two brothers were inside the cafeteria, eating quietly while discussing a few irrelevant matters.
"Let’s get something for ourselves first."
After spotting them, Seraph and Sylvia served themselves with moderate plates of food before going to join Left and Right at their table.
"Good morning."
Seraph greeted them calmly, watching with a smile as their expressions shifted from confusion to shock.
"Senior Brother Seraph!"
Their voices overlapped and rose, startling the others in the cafeteria.
After receiving several glares, the two immediately cooled their excitement and looked at Seraph again.
"Wow... it’s been months since I last saw you. Really... wow."
Left muttered, a smile on his face as he examined Seraph.
Right was also dazed for a few seconds, then he grinned.
"Good brother! It’s good that you’re here with us! Haha, we haven’t chatted in a while."
Seraph received their enthusiasm with nods and smiles. The atmosphere remained harmonious.
At least, until Sylvia cut in.
"Have I become that insignificant?"
The twins froze, then hesitantly turned their heads to her.
"O-oh! S-senior Sister S-sylvia. Haha..."
"W-we didn’t know you were here. Hehe..."
"Besides, Senior Brother Seraph is a surprise, so we weren’t paying attention."
"It is truly an oversight. Please forgive us."
The two spoke up, mixing their sentences to complete their part of the conversation.
Sylvia folded her arms and swept them with a gaze that made them shudder.
"Fine. I’ve heard you two. Forget about it."
The two sighed in relief, then looked at their senior disciples in awe.
"How are you two doing?"
Seeing them only gawk in silence, Seraph asked casually.
Left answered. "We’ve been doing good. Yearning to grow more powerful, but it hasn’t been easy."
Right glared at his brother and quickly added. "Also, we have become Peakmm Advanced cultivators."
Seraph was surprised. Their cultivation speed was really fast, so he gave them a thumbs-up.
"That’s good."
The four of them chatted idly before Seraph returned to his room to meditate. The first thing he did was to use spiritual energy to strengthen his soul, just like Elder Simone had said and how it was written in the manual.
"Phew..."
After a full hour, Seraph exhaled and opened his eyes.
’I have a lot to do, to be honest.’
He needed to learn how to use the new skills hat he had gotten from his Divine Shop, which was why he had decided to go on a joint expedition with Ariana and her friends.
He also needed to treat Elder Song’s injury, which was already a fixed plan.
’My Divine Credits have almost been exhausted. I’ll be needing more. Hmm. Only by inventing stuffs will I get rewarded. Hmm...’
He tried to think back to the things he could easily create that would definitely become popular anong cultivators.
’Hm, a cellphone? It’s good, but too complex for now.’
He needed something basic.
’Wait a minute. I don’t just have to invent, right? The smithery in the clan!’
It was something he had done when he was smaller. Modifying blacksmithing techniques.
Of course he could do even better by generating new formulas for weapon creation.
"Alright. I’ll work on that after completing Elder Song’s treatment."
Closing his eyes, he rested his head on the bed and relaxed.
"Ahh..."
In his mind, the cultivation manual of the Life element manual appeared, and he began browsing through it.
The more he read, the more he wanted to practice it immediately. However, that was unwise and would only bring about imperfection of the skills he tried to use.
Soon, he drifted off to sleep with a simple yawn, only waking up later at night.
"Hm. That’s unusual of me. I don’t sleep during the day."
Yawning and feeling refreshed, he turned on the lights in his room, changed into casual clothes, then went outside.
The surroundings were lit up with tens of light bulbs he had created, filling him with a unique feeling.
"Still, this light bulb is nothing but trash compared to actual light bulbs on earth. Unfortunately, this worlds technology is too low and I can’t just do as I want."
Rolling his eyes, he walked around leisurely, just examining the terrain and enjoying the cool night wind.
Suddenly, he spotted a young disciple sitting on a tree nearby.
The disciple was from the inner court, but he looked very young—probably around fourteen years old.
"Hmm."
Humming, Seraph walked up to him and asked. "What’s your name?"
The disciple was startled, almost falling off the tree when he heard someone addressing him.
"U-uh..."
Seeing him nervous, Seraph chuckled and jumped, sitting right next to the boy on the thick tree branch.
"What is your name?"
He asked again, his tone gentler.
The boy had blue hair—a strange color, and a pair of sharp blue eyes.
"Um... I’m Kael."
Seraph nodded, then introduced himself too. "I’m Seraph."
With Seraph’s warn demeanor, the boy found it hard to not be relaxed around him.
"You... are you a new disciple too?"
Kael asked, his eyes glinting with curiosity.
Although amused, Seraph didn’t lie to him. "No, I’m not. I’ve spent six years in this sect."
"Wow..." Kael was surprised, and his gaze towards Seraph changed subtly.
"How... how’s things like here? Is it really... peaceful and good as they say? I... don’t trust people a lot."
Seraph chuckled, raising his head to look at the starry skies.
"Indeed. The inner court is quite peaceful. As long as you don’t overdo it and you’re friendly, no one will find trouble with you."
Kael seemed to believe him and nodded. "I hope so. I... come from a normal family. But I have a five-ci-aptitude and affinity for death element. That’s why most people about me."
Hearing this, Seraph was intrigued. "Death element? Do you have the cultivation manuals or something?"
Kael hesitantly shook his head. "I don’t. But the elder who brought me here said he’ll help me get one soon."
Seraph nodded and relaxed. "Alright, Kael. I’ll be looking forward to what you can do in the future."
Smiling, he patted the boy’s back and jumped off the tree branch.
He walked away, not knowing that his future self would have wished he killed the boy right there at that moment. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Why? Only the future knew.
