Overpowered Resident Doctor
Chapter 375 - 374: Internet Celebrity Doctor
Yan Feifan learned about the day’s many events from the new hospital director, Liu Jin. While he was filled with emotion, his body, which was only just beginning to recover, began to lodge a serious protest.
His stomach was growling incessantly. He hadn’t eaten a thing all day.
Liu Jin left with a smile.
Yan Feifan changed his clothes and was about to get something to eat. Just as he stepped out of his office, he ran right into Wang Chuan, who was just returning.
"Well, well. The good doctor the whole internet’s heart aches for is finally awake."
Yan Feifan said, a little embarrassed, "Director, please stop teasing me. By the way, how’s that big star doing?"
"I was just about to tell you about that."
Wang Chuan said in a serious tone, "She was under observation in the penthouse ward for a few hours, and everything is fine."
"She left just a little while ago, after I did a final check-up."
"Next week, she’ll come back for a follow-up."
Wang Chuan added, "She also shared and liked posts about what happened to you on her official social media accounts."
"She also said her heart ached for you and publicly pledged to donate six hundred and sixty thousand yuan to support your charity project."
Yan Feifan couldn’t help but smile. "Now that’s the kind of tangible news I love to hear."
Wang Chuan smiled too. "Then let me give you two more pieces of good news."
"That Mr. Zuo you saved yesterday came by this afternoon."
"He saw you were still fast asleep, so he didn’t wake you. He left a check for one million yuan to support your charity project."
"Also, the reporter Xiao Man said several companies have contacted the *Social Weave* team to express their interest in donating."
Wang Chuan said with a grin, "Feifan, I think you should take advantage of this rare wave of popularity and start a charitable foundation."
"We could call it the Heart-Ache Foundation. What do you think?"
Yan Feifan just rolled his eyes at Wang Chuan, muttered, "I’m going to eat," and walked off.
However, as soon as he stepped out of the Plastic Surgery Center, someone stopped him.
Qiaoyan!
"Mr. Yan, Mr. Yan, I am so, so sorry."
"I shouldn’t have jumped to conclusions based only on what I saw, without doing a thorough investigation. I’ve caused you so much trouble."
"Please accept my sincerest apology!"
Yan Feifan looked at Qiaoyan, who remained bowed before him. After a moment’s hesitation, he said, "I accept your apology."
"You can stand up."
Yan Feifan continued, "You weren’t entirely in the wrong."
"It’s because of independent content creators like you, who can expose uncivilized behavior and illegal activities at any moment, that more people feel compelled to restrain themselves and act with more self-discipline."
Qiaoyan said gratefully, "Mr. Yan, thank you for your understanding. This whole incident has been a baptism by fire for me; I’ve learned my lesson."
"I’ll be much more careful about the content of my videos from now on."
"Mr. Yan, I’ve decided to donate my entire video income for this month to your charitable plastic surgery project."
"Thank you for your kindness!"
Yan Feifan replied politely, then asked, "What about the father of that student taking the college entrance exam?"
He asked because he had promised his sister.
He’d promised his sister that if he had the capacity to help, he should, without overthinking it.
"Her father was admitted to City First Hospital. They say his surgery is this Wednesday."
Yan Feifan gave a soft "oh" of understanding. "Send a copy of his father’s medical records to my email."
He added, "Keep this confidential."
Qiaoyan bobbed her head up and down like a chicken pecking at grain. "Mr. Yan, I understand. I won’t cause you any more trouble."
"I truly understand now that there are so many patients waiting in line for you to operate on them, Mr. Yan."
"Sigh... I was far too reckless..."
Yan Feifan went to the 24-hour employee cafeteria and got himself a meal.
He had just sat down and taken a few bites when a voice rang out beside him.
"Mr. Yan, come now, let your big sister’s heart ache for you a little."
"My dear little brother, my heart has *always* ached for you!"
Yan Feifan looked up to see Qu Ying and his own sister sitting across from him, grinning.
Yan Feifan ignored his sister and looked at Qu Ying with frustration. "Director Qu, aren’t you the one who started all this? How can you have the nerve to join in on the teasing?"
Qu Ying chuckled. "I was just so moved by you in that moment, the words just slipped out. I never expected it to go viral online."
"Anyway, Mr. Yan, let’s talk about something serious."
Qu Ying straightened her expression and continued, "Thanks to this wave of popularity, you’ve become the most well-known doctor from our Affiliated Hospital on the entire internet."
"We can’t let such a great promotional opportunity go to waste."
"Mr. Yan, have you thought about capitalizing on this fame to start official social media accounts, like for Weibo, public articles, or videos?"
Yan Feifan quickly shook his head. "Director Qu, I don’t have the spare time to mess with all that stuff."
Qu Ying chuckled. "Of course I know you don’t have the time. But I do. And so does your sister."
Yan Ziruo quickly chimed in, "I’ve got tons of free time."
Qu Ying continued, "My idea is, we can run these accounts for you."
She added, "I’ve already reported this idea to Mr. Liu, and he’s very supportive."
"The only condition is that we get your consent and authorization."
Yan Feifan asked, just to be sure, "You want to turn me into some kind of celebrity doctor?"
Qu Ying nodded. "More or less."
"Mr. Yan, look at it this way: you have unparalleled medical skills, a fantastic image, and it’s all incredibly positive."
Qu Ying went on to explain, "Mr. Yan, the PR landscape has already shifted from traditional media to the internet and social media."
"Our Affiliated Hospital has to keep up with the times."
"We can leverage this rare moment of fame to attract a huge following. Through the content we create, we can give people a glimpse into the work and daily lives of doctors, and they can learn more about our hospital."
"This deeper understanding can effectively reduce doctor-patient conflicts."
"At the same time, we can also share useful health information with the public."
Qu Ying leaned closer to Yan Feifan. "Mr. Liu said he’ll give us an operating budget, plus a stipend for our trouble."
"Plus, I’ve heard that if you get enough followers and views, you can even earn a nice little side income every month."
Yan Feifan said with stern righteousness, "It’s not like I need the money, and being a celebrity doctor would make it seem like I’m neglecting my actual profession."
"Besides, I don’t have time to film a bunch of nonsense."
Yan Ziruo protested, "Feifan, you can just go on as usual. Do whatever you normally do."
"We’ll handle everything—the filming, content design, editing, all of it."
"You won’t have to lift a finger or worry about a thing."
Yan Feifan couldn’t help but ask, "Sis, are you quitting your accounting job?"
Yan Ziruo tilted her head back, gazing dramatically at the ceiling. "Feifan," she sighed, "your big sister has always had a dream buried deep in her heart... to be an actress."
"It’s just... *sigh*... never mind."
Yan Ziruo shifted her gaze to her disbelieving, lip-pursing brother, then chuckled. "Even though you’re the star, I’ll probably get the most screen time. It’ll be my chance to indulge my inner actress."
"Besides, accounting is so dull and boring. Making short videos sounds way more interesting!"
"Feifan..."
Yan Ziruo continued her persuasion, "Just think about it. With your own platform, you could appeal for charitable donations, find donors for rare blood types, search for bone marrow matches for leukemia patients, and so much more."
"We could even promote the businesses and restaurants we’ve invested in."
At this point, Yan Feifan was starting to understand.
’Qu Ying, representing the hospital, was essentially pulling a bait-and-switch. She wanted to ride this wave of popularity, using his name to quickly build a fanbase that would serve as another promotional platform for the hospital.’
Yan Feifan thought for a moment. "It’s not out of the question," he said, "but I have three conditions. First, it can’t interfere with my work or my personal life."
"Second, you can’t use my name to cheat, scam, or do anything unethical."
"And third, I have the absolute authority to shut the whole thing down at any time."
Just then, Yan Feifan’s phone rang.
He took out his phone and saw it was a landline from the hospital.
"Is this Mr. Yan?"
"This is Wu Peng from the Secretary’s office. The Secretary would like to meet with you. When would be a good time for you?"
P.S.
