Overpowered Hero In Search Of Battle!
Chapter 53: Nightingale Family!
Heaven is split into five realms: the lower realm, the middle realm, the upper realm, the royal realm, and finally the divine realm. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
The lower realm hosts weak lower-classed gods and angels. They have little to no strength and are completely useless in the eyes of those higher up. No royals would ever step foot into the lower realm as it was absolutely repulsive to them. It was the poverty-stricken section of heaven where sickly and weak gods and goddesses lived while young, often starved children roamed around.
The middle realm was much nicer compared to the lower realm. Gods and goddesses were somewhat happy and did not have much trouble. They were fit and healthy to work and held some degree of power.
The upper realm of heaven, unlike every other part of heaven, consisted of solidified clouds for the ground beneath. Some high-class gods and goddesses lived here. This section of heaven is key, as it’s where the court of heaven resides, which is overseen by Themison, the god of judgment. Every single important decision made by the gods is held and officiated in that courtroom. The upper realm also contains a library with vast amounts of knowledge locked within, and every decision made in the court of heaven has also been documented and stored in this library. Mighty and high-classed gods and goddesses live in this realm peacefully.
The royal realm was reserved only for the upper echelon of gods and goddesses. Only the strongest of gods and goddesses lived here along with their extended families. In total, there were ten royal families, each of them living in luxury and completely separate from any lower-class gods.
These royal families were unchanged through each generation and the number would continue to remain unchanged. This is what every god believed. However, they were wrong. This number dropped to nine some time ago because of a certain detested demon among the gods.
Sedah had completely eradicated one of the ten royal families.
The divine realm hosts only three beings. One god and two angel knights. Nobody else could ever step foot into the uppermost section of heaven unless they were granted direct access. Sedah himself wouldn’t be able to access this realm even with his own mighty power.
The Nightingale family was currently one of nine prestigious royal families amongst the gods. There wasn’t a single god or goddess in heaven who didn’t know about the royal families. The Nightingale family resided in a huge mansion in the royal realm of heaven. Their courtyard was so large that it could fit a medium-sized village. Only royal families such as the Nightingale family lived in this section of heaven.
There were five main members of the Nightingale family. One father. One mother. Three children. The father, Sirius Nightingale, was the head of the household and very stern with all three of his children. His wife, Nyx Nightingale, never showed much interest in her children. She was born into an upper-class family and never once stepped foot outside of the royal and upper-class realms of heaven. The eldest son, Onyx Nightingale, was always detached and never showed any expression on his face except for the occasional disgusted look he showed to his younger siblings. Naturally, he was next in line to become the future head of the Nightingale household. Since he was young, he was properly trained, educated, and always upheld an air of pride around him that was fitting of royalty. His looks and personality were similar to those of his mother.
The middle child, Amygdala Nightingale, had never much liked her parents nor her older brother and felt indifferent about them, however, she adored her younger sister. She believed it was her duty to protect her younger sister, who looked up to her.
The youngest in the Nightingale family, Myerlin Nightingale was weak and frail since birth, she always wore a smile and loved her family very dearly even though this feeling of familial love wasn’t reciprocated. Only Amygdala treasured her younger sister unlike the other cold and distant members of the family.
Each one of them possessed very distinct black hair with the exception of the young and frail Myerlin. She was born with grey hair and always looked so tired.

Amygdala reached up and twisted the doorknob, opening the door to Myerlin’s room. The door opened slightly, and Amygdala saw Myerlin sitting up on her large bed that had drapes hanging around. She was in the middle of reading a children’s fairytale book about a young black-haired man, who came from another world, that was destined to become the hero of the world he was summoned to.
The story depicted the otherworldly humans’ grandiose and harsh adventures, from exploring mystical forests to diving deep into dungeons and marching through a scorching desert all filled with tribulations such as monsters and puzzles. However, the hero overcame all these tribulations and through these trials, he became stronger. He met close friends along the way, forming strong bonds. They helped each other throughout their journey, and in one of his adventures, he would acquire a legendary weapon that held the power to slay the evil and tyrannical demon lord, who spread his army of monsters across the world. He stormed the demon lord’s castle with his party and slew the evil demon lord with a swing of his legendary weapon! The hero had completed his quest. Yes...he had fulfilled his destiny of achieving peace in this world and now he had to go back to his original world, leaving his allies, friends and lover.
The world that he was summoned to had sent him back upon killing the demon lord. The book never mentions how the hero felt leaving everybody behind. However, Myerlin always thought it was a heartbreaking ending, believing the hero must have been sad leaving everybody he knew behind and returning to his own world all alone. The book was titled, "The Adventures of the black-haired hero from another world."
Myerlin had read this particular book dozens of times as it was her favourite story, even though it had a sad ending in her mind. She closed the book and turned her head to the door. There she saw a tiny Amygdala hiding behind an almost shut door. Amygdala was, hesitant at first to enter her room but one smile from Myerlin made her come rushing onto the bed.
"Myerlin!" Amygdala joyously exclaimed as she jumped up and down and then reached to give her a big but gentle hug.
Myerlin hugged Amygdala back as tightly as she could but due to the lack of strength in her body, it felt very weak. "Dearest sister!" She exclaimed faintly, excited and happy to see her older sister Amygdala.
Amygdala then backed away a little and pressed both of her hands against Myerlin’s cheeks, squishing and scrunching her face. "You’re so cute! Kyahh! How are you my adorable little sister?" Amygdala asked while poking her cheeks very lightly.
"Older sis! I’m fine...but you’re too clingy!" She tried gently pushing Amygdala away and turned her face away. However, Amygdala’s kisses, hugs and affection were all inescapable.
"Mmmmph! Let your older sister dote on you for longer! Hehe!" Amygdala completely smeared and buried her face in Myerlin’s lap.
"Gosh! Older sis! You’re too much..." She then stroked Amygdala’s hair gently.
Amygdala then looked up at Myerlin while lying on her stomach and asked, "Soooo...can you come out and play now?"
Myerlin kept stroking Amygdala’s hair and accidentally blurted out, "I feel like I’m the older sister..."
"I’m the older sister!" Amygdala immediately replied with a pout. Even though Amygdala was older she did not act like it. Myerlin was seven years old, whereas Amygdala just recently turned twelve. They were both children, unlike their oldest brother Onyx, who was twenty-three years old. There was a significant age gap between the middle child of the family and the oldest. Perhaps it would be a reason why Onyx treats his younger siblings with such a dismissive and cold attitude, he treated even his peers the same way. To Onyx, there had to be benefits to him to develop any kind of relationship, and he deemed having a strong bond with his younger siblings would be useless.
Onyx had always ensured to never displease his father as he had the ambition to inherit everything that belonged to the Nightingale family in the future and he knew one day he would inherit everything that belonged to his father, though it would take quite some time. Gods, goddesses and angels alike can live for so very long, up to several centuries in fact. However, there is an exception, the three beings that reside in the royal realm: the two angel knights and one god live forever. Moreover, any god bestowed by the one in the royal realm can also live forever, such as Themison, the god of judgment, and Eira, known as the goddess of ice and healing by humans. Drakonthar and his brother were also granted this same power of immortality.
Onyx was walking through the wide and long halls on his way to his father’s office to discuss something of importance. That was the message that was conveyed to him by one of the many servants they had around the mansion. Onyx knocked on his father’s office door.
"Enter."
Onyx opened the door and walked to the centre of the room with an upright posture as he positioned both of his hands behind his back, ensuring to keep a dignified posture at all times. He spoke in a clear voice, "Father, why did you call me?"
"..."
Onyx took a moment and then looked at his father, who he saw writing with a quill that was tipped with ink. He then finished writing and placed the quill in the glass ink jar.
"Onyx, do you know what I was writing just now?" Sirius looked at his son with a piercing glare.
"...No, father." Onyx hesitated at first before answering.
"It is my will," Sirius replied.
Onyx was taken aback and had one question on his mind, ’Why was his father writing a will so early? He had many years left to live. In fact, he had a few centuries-’
"-Careful now, you have a hideous grin showing on your face, my son." He calmly spoke, interrupting Onyx’s thoughts. Sirius still kept up the same vicious eye contact and unyielding expression.
