"I actually got a support monster... and it’s a Super Rare card at that!" Oliver said excitedly.
"Why is my life becoming so lucky lately? Am I already using up all the luck in my entire life?"
After receiving the Super Rare Authority card for free before, he had now obtained another Super Rare card.
At this point, Oliver was genuinely starting to worry about his future luck already.
The card displayed a humanoid female figure with elegant wings and a body covered in floral-themed patterns and vines. Its stats were heavily focused on INT and WILL, the two most important attributes for healing and support abilities.
Compared to Oculbane, which balanced both mage and support roles, Floralia was completely specialized toward support.
However, something else caught Oliver’s attention. The monster rank.
"System, didn’t you say a long time ago that monsters inside the system use a completely different ranking system? If I remember correctly, Lesser rank is the lowest rank, right?" Oliver frowned slightly as he looked suspiciously at the card in his hand.
"So how can a Super Rare monster only be Lesser Rank? Am I getting scammed here?"
[Floralia is one of the strongest support-only monsters within the VERDANT WISH pack. It is also one of only seven Super Rare monster cards available in the pack. The remaining Super Rare monsters are mostly hybrid-type units.]
[Additionally, a Lesser Rank monster with Super Rare rarity is significantly stronger than Lesser Rank monsters of Rare rarity and below.]
"I can trust you, right? You’re not lying to me?" Oliver asked suspiciously.
[I am not programmed to lie. I only provide facts based on calculations and deep analysis.]
"Okay, okay. I’ll believe you." Oliver replied while nodding slowly. Oliver happily stared at the card before kissing it lightly and storing it back inside the system.
His mood was currently at its peak. He could not wait to finish this mission quickly and return home to tame Floralia.
"Why is the discussion taking so long? Or is it already finished?" Oliver muttered while looking toward the command tent.
"And moreover, I still haven’t seen that annoying Waine guy and Ingram anywhere."
He then walked toward the tent. Just as he was about to call out to Aria, who had just stepped out from inside, a man’s hand suddenly reached out and grabbed her wrist.
Oliver instinctively hid himself nearby. Even so, he was still close enough to hear their conversation clearly.
"Why are you being so stubborn, Aria? I traveled for an entire day and night just to come here and help you, yet you’re telling me to simply go back like that?" Vincent said frustratedly.
He had blond hair and wore an elegant red-and-black noble outfit. A rapier hung at his waist.
"I never asked for your help in the first place, Vincent. Besides, the culprit specifically wants me to meet him alone. I don’t want to risk those two lives." Aria frowned slightly, clearly looking stressed.
"Why are you so concerned about them? They’re just minor nobles. Nobodies. You’re willing to risk your own life for people like that?"
"Yes. Is there a problem with that?" Aria answered firmly without hesitation.
"Sigh... What’s wrong with you, Aria? Before this, you were always gentle and kind toward me. But ever since our engagement five years ago, it feels like you’ve been trying to distance yourself from me. And you don’t even wear our engagement ring anymore." Vincent asked softly and slowly placed the back of his hand against Aria’s cheek.
’E-engaged?!’
Oliver was inwardly shocked. He had never expected Aria to already be engaged to someone. For some reason, a slight feeling of frustration appeared deep inside his heart.
He had only recently started becoming comfortable around Aria, yet it seemed she already belonged to someone else. Oliver slowly closed his eyes.
He felt that he needed to distance himself from her a little and avoid interfering in their relationship.
Aria slowly pushed Vincent’s hand away before turning her face to the side.
"Please leave this place. I still have a mission to complete." Aria said quietly.
Vincent stared at her for a few moments. Tears slowly welled in his eyes before he finally stepped away. However, before leaving completely, he stopped briefly.
"I will never give up on you. Don’t ever forget that." he said firmly. After that, he walked past Oliver’s hiding spot and ordered his soldiers to prepare for departure.
"Sniff... Sniff..."
Oliver then looked toward Aria and saw her wiping away her tears. Even though she always appeared strong on the outside, in the end, she was still just a girl.
"Huu..."
Aria slowly exhaled and took a deep breath before calming herself down. She then walked toward a nearby guard.
"Has Oliver returned with the others already?" she asked.
"Oh no! She’s looking for me?" Oliver instantly panicked inwardly. He quickly pretended as if nothing had happened before casually walking toward Aria.
"Hello, Lady Aria. The night is really hot, right? It’s the perfect time to drink something cold, right?"
Aria raised an eyebrow in confusion.
’Ahh! I sound so stupid!’ Oliver cursed inwardly. Whenever he panicked, he had a tendency to blurt out nonsense.
"Anyway, I have new information," Aria said, deciding to ignore his awkward greeting.
"I received a letter from the enemy. They captured Waine and Ingram. And they told me to meet them inside a hidden dungeon beneath the city."
"A hidden dungeon?"
"Yes. And they specifically requested for me to come alone. But I want you to cover me in case something happens."
Oliver suddenly recalled the conversation he had overheard earlier. After hesitating for a brief moment, he finally spoke.
"Aria... let me go into the dungeon instead. You should stay here on standby. I... I don’t want you to get hurt." He looked at her seriously.
Aria’s eyes widened slightly after hearing
those words.
