Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 562: Pay Money and Go to Jail, Choose One
The meeting Preston Vance arranged was at Maplewood Gardens. He was standing downstairs from Chloe Reed’s apartment building, waiting.
Ivy Vance stood to one side, her face a mask of reluctance.
Her expression grew even stiffer when she saw Walker Grant, and she even turned to walk away.
When Preston Vance saw her arrive, his expression softened somewhat. But upon seeing Walker Grant right after, his brow furrowed almost imperceptibly.
"Chloe, let’s go up. For something like this, it will seem more sincere if we’re at your place," Preston Vance said gently.
Chloe Reed nodded. "Alright."
She walked toward the entrance of the apartment building, and the others followed behind her.
Once they were inside the apartment, Preston Vance looked at Ivy Vance, his tone exceptionally stern. "Apologize."
Ivy Vance gritted her teeth, refusing to speak.
Preston Vance’s tone grew colder. "Don’t forget what I told you."
Ivy Vance reluctantly lowered her head and said in an extremely stiff tone, "I’m sorry."
"Heh!"
Watching this display, Chloe Reed let out a cold laugh. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
Ivy Vance immediately shot her a furious glare. "What’s that supposed to mean? I already apologized! What more do you want from me?"
"You call that an apology?"
Walker Grant spoke up from the side, his voice turning cold. His pitch-black, almond-shaped eyes stared grimly at her.
Ivy Vance felt an oppressive weight settle over her, making her chest tighten. The rims of her eyes began to turn red.
"I..."
She opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but in the face of Walker Grant’s stare, she couldn’t get a single word out.
Walker Grant scoffed. "Mr. Vance, is this how the Vance family apologizes?"
"Ivy!"
Preston Vance’s tone grew even harsher. "Apologize to Chloe!"
The color drained from Ivy Vance’s face, and her body trembled.
She glanced at Walker Grant, a flicker of hurt in her eyes. Then, her gaze shifted to Chloe Reed, and a cold glint appeared.
’It’s all my fault for messing up last time!’
’If I hadn’t messed up, how could Chloe Reed possibly be standing here? How could she still be by Walker Grant’s side?’
"I’m sorry. I was foolish before. I hope you can forgive me."
Ivy Vance lowered her head, her tone softening. This time, there was a bit more sincerity in her voice than before.
Chloe Reed watched her, her clear eyes cold and detached.
Walker Grant spoke up. "You’re a malicious person. A simple apology can’t possibly make up for the harm you’ve done to my wife."
Ivy Vance’s head snapped up to look at him. "You’re calling me malicious?"
"And you’re not?" Walker Grant stared at her coldly. "You hired someone to hurt her. Is that not malicious?"
Tears streamed down Ivy Vance’s face. She bit her lip hard, her voice choked with sobs. "Then what do you want?"
Walker Grant gave her an indifferent glance. "I’m sure Mr. Vance is full of sincere remorse and came here today to compensate my wife. Since that’s the case, how about this: transfer the total net profits from the last three years of every company under Miss Vance’s name to my wife’s account. Only then might I be convinced of your sincerity."
"You!"
Hearing this, Ivy Vance’s eyes widened in disbelief. "That’s robbery! It’s extortion! You’ve gone too far!"
"Too far?" Walker Grant chuckled softly. "If Miss Vance doesn’t care for that proposal, I have an alternative. Grant Corporation’s legal team has been rather idle lately. We have conclusive evidence that you hired someone to harm my wife. The moment I report this to the police, you’ll be facing unavoidable jail time. How does that proposal sound to you?"
Tears streamed down Ivy Vance’s face. "You’d really send me to prison?!"
