Chapter 555: Chapter 555: Hiding for a Lifetime

At his words, Chloe Reed’s long eyelashes trembled.

’Live in hiding?’

’If Vera Holloway can’t find me, does that mean I won’t die?’

’I can hide for a while, but can I hide for a lifetime?’

’As long as I’m alive, Vera Holloway will always see me as a threat.’

’How could Vera Holloway possibly sleep soundly if this threat isn’t eliminated?’

Chloe Reed’s lips twisted into a self-deprecating smirk. Circumstances were forcing her to confront the formidable Holloway Family.

She looked up again and asked, "Is there any way to meet someone from the Holloway Family?"

Lucas Shaw was clearly taken aback to hear her voice. He then chuckled and looked teasingly at Walker Grant. "Have you completely revealed yourself to her?"

Chloe Reed didn’t understand what he meant at first.

Walker Grant said in a low, stern voice, "Answer her question."

Lucas Shaw glanced between the two of them and said, "Of course. The Holloways keep a low profile, but they still have to come out to negotiate deals. The eldest son of the Holloway family is in charge of these matters. From what I know, there’s a summit coming up that he’ll be attending. Do you want to go?"

Chloe Reed’s plan was simple: meet one of the Holloways, directly demand a paternity test, and the truth would finally come to light.

She looked at Walker Grant and asked, "Should we go?"

Walker Grant gazed at her, quickly understanding her intentions. His sharp brows knitted together. "That won’t work."

"Why?"

Chloe Reed looked at him, confused.

"The Holloways won’t agree to your request," Walker Grant said, his expression grave. "They’ll likely think you’re deliberately trying to cause trouble and come after you. We need to plan this out carefully."

Chloe Reed pressed her lips together. "But..."

"You’re oversimplifying things," Walker Grant said. "First, we don’t know the extent of the Holloway family’s favoritism toward Vera. What if they only want *that* daughter, not you? In that case, wouldn’t showing up just give them the perfect opportunity to eliminate you?"

The color drained from Chloe Reed’s face at his words.

"So, we have to take this slowly. We can’t just rashly appear before the Holloways," Walker Grant said, his expression grave.

He never acted rashly without knowing what he was up against; it had always been his guiding principle.

Lucas Shaw said, "You’re right. The Holloway family runs deep, and they’re too mysterious. None of us knows what their inner workings are like. What if they’re tacitly approving of everything Vera has done?"

He chuckled. "So, I’ll say it again: just live in obscurity. Don’t go messing with things you shouldn’t."

The moment he finished speaking, the video call disconnected.

Chloe Reed sat on the sofa, not saying a word for a long time.

Walker Grant stood, walked over to sit beside her, and looked at her stunned expression. "Don’t worry," he said in a gentle voice. "We’ll investigate first. Knowing our enemy and ourselves is the only way we’ll have a chance to win."

Chloe Reed looked at him and gave a wan smile. "Or maybe... I should just take his advice. I’ll change my identity, leave this place, and spend the rest of my life in hiding."

At her words, Walker Grant frowned slightly. "Chloe, that’s not the life you want. And it’s not in your nature to do something like that."

But Chloe Reed said, "To the Holloways, I’m just an ant. It would be so easy for them to crush me. I..."

Walker Grant pulled her into his arms. "Don’t be afraid. I’ll always be by your side. No matter how hard it gets, I’ll be here with you."
