Chapter 1089: Chapter 1008: Seize the Treasure Amidst Chaos
"Huff, huff!"
The fierce vortex raged across the space, sweeping all the attacking players into the sky, leaving the air dense with figures. The surviving players wore expressions of shock at the crazy scene unfolding before their eyes.
"Dammit!"
Because Dai Xuan hadn’t rushed to attack, he narrowly avoided the terrifying group assault. His face filled with frustration as he stared at Su Ran at the center of the vortex, wishing he could tear the boy to shreds right then and there.
As for those thirty-odd players wrapped in Netherworld Purple Fire, who had luckily escaped catastrophe, they retreated several steps with faces filled with fear. They had now realized that Spilt Water Can’t Be Regained truly lived up to his reputation as a Human Race superb expert—with endlessly emerging group techniques of astonishing power!
Regret filled their hearts; offending Spilt Water Can’t Be Regained was clearly not a wise decision!
"Whoosh!"
Su Ran remained within the eye of the Ice Vortex, relatively safe. He had no time to ponder the thoughts of other players as he bore a grave expression and, without a moment’s hesitation, attacked the floating medallion with ice arrows. The arrows bombarded the medallion which resisted the damage with flashing light, showing no sign of harm.
However, Su Ran clearly noticed that the glow enveloping the medallion had diminished significantly, its brightness already starting to fade.
"This is it!"
Seizing the final moments, Su Ran kept bombarding the medallion with ice arrows. Finally, effort paid off, and just as the Ice Vortex disappeared, the medallion was knocked away by Su Ran, shooting high into the sky without a sign of falling.
"Tap tap tap."
Quickly closing in, Su Ran leapt up to the medallion in mid-air, reaching out to grab it.
Fortunately, the Ice Vortex had ended, and the large group of players previously swept into the air had already crashed to the ground, saving Su Ran a lot of unnecessary trouble as he closed in on the medallion.
In the entire space, Su Ran was the sole practitioner of flying skills, and as for flying pets, no one owned any. All players watched Su Ran’s dashing figure with eyes full of envy.
"Those with long-range attacks, all of you attack now, bring Spilt Water Can’t Be Regained down!"
Dai Xuan couldn’t stand idly by and watch Su Ran succeed, his voice filled with panic and anger, commanding the mage players to take action, intent on showing Spilt Water Can’t Be Regained the meaning of despair!
Unfortunately, the number of mage players he had brought with him was limited, and many were affected by the Ice Vortex, with quite a few triggered into a frozen state. Only about a dozen were able to attack Su Ran, whose magical bolts were so sparse that they posed no threat and were easily dodged by Su Ran.
"What are you standing around for, attack now! If you can bring Spilt Water Can’t Be Regained down, I’ll spare you this time!"
Without long-range abilities, Dai Xuan could only pace in urgency. Out of options, he placed his hope on those thirty-plus players, including over ten mages. If they joined the attack, the firepower would nearly double, making it difficult for Spilt Water Can’t Be Regained to dodge.
Unfortunately, these players didn’t answer to him, and all Dai Xuan could do was combine threats with promises, hoping they would follow orders.
"Leader Dai, thanks for the reminder, but to tell you the truth, we’ve decided not to wade into this mess!"
The warrior players knew their favorable situation was gone; the chance of obtaining the treasure was almost nil. Staying would only increase their awkwardness; remaining with Dai Xuan would be like seeking skin from a tiger—they were well aware of this.
"Go!"
Under the command of the warrior player, his brothers fled back the way they came, taking advantage of the fact that Dai Xuan was too busy to deal with them. Now was the best time to escape!
"Looking for death!"
Dai Xuan, infuriated by these players, couldn’t help but roar, "Melee, listen up, kill them all, none shall be spared!"
As the order was given, the entire area descended into chaos, with chasing, killing, cursing, and howling. A proper battle had turned into a farce. Watching this chaotic scene only exacerbated Dai Xuan’s impatience; he stopped commanding and entered the battlefield himself, attacking the thirty-some players to vent the anger swelling in his heart.
"It wasn’t easy, but I’ve finally got it!"
At this moment, Su Ran appeared relaxed but was actually extremely tense. He dodged the incoming magical attacks mid-air, fearful of being hit. He was relieved that there were so few mage players below, which was the only reason he had held on until now and he finally grasped the token in his hand, allowing himself a moment of relief.
However, he felt like he was dreaming; none of it seemed real.
Su Ran knew that he had emerged victorious due to the perfect convergence of timing, location, and human circumstances. If any one of these factors had been amiss, the treasure would have never fallen into his hands. Su Ran was well aware of this self-knowledge.
But in this world, there are no "ifs," only consequences and outcomes. Now that the token had become his, there was no way Su Ran would let it go. Taking advantage of the chaos below, he quietly slipped deeper into the area.
...
After Dai Xuan wiped out those players, his mood greatly improved, finally letting off steam.
"Huh?"
His gaze swept across the sky, but Su Ran’s figure was nowhere to be found, which annoyed him immensely. He jumped off the Red Gold Cloud Tiger, grabbed a mage player by the collar, and demanded angrily, "Didn’t I tell you to watch Spilt Water Can’t Be Regained? Where is he? If he has escaped, I’ll hold you accountable!"
"Let go!"
The mage player’s heart turned cold due to Dai Xuan’s rude behavior, but he remained assertive, coldly staring at Dai Xuan. He didn’t feel inferior just because Dai Xuan was the leader and retorted, "Why should we take the blame if Spilt Water Can’t Be Regained has escaped? What are you doing as the leader? With a selfish leader like you, the Dancing Demons guild is doomed to be ruined by your hands!"
"You!"
Dai Xuan didn’t expect an internal conflict at this critical moment and was momentarily stunned, unsure of what to say.
"You what you!"
The mage player shook off Dai Xuan’s hand, speaking disdainfully, "It’s just a game, what’s the point if it’s too oppressive? You can keep your leader’s authority to yourself. I’ve had enough of this shoddy guild! If you want to pursue me, I’m ready anytime! Just to let the brothers see your ugly true colors!"
"Brothers, we don’t need to serve such a leader! Let’s go!"
Following the mage’s lead, nearly ten more mages left the guild, took out their Ghost Town Recall Scrolls, and disappeared from the area.
"Leader, this..."
The turn of events surprised everyone. The players looked at each other and then all turned their eyes to Dai Xuan, only to see the leader standing in place, his face ashen, seemingly lost in thought.
