Chapter 307: The Seer 2 (Ch.307)

"Princess Adrienne of the Fae... Greetings..." The young boy called to Adrienne, his gaze moving to settle on her.

The words of the young boy rang through Adrienne’s mind repeatedly.

Adrienne’s heart thudded within her chest, her eyes widening slightly.

She had done her best to ensure her identity would not be exposed, no one had noticed anything until now, so how exactly had this young boy known?

Adrienne turned around slowly, one foot at a time till she was fully facing the young boy.

Her eyes met his blank white orbs and for a moment, Adrienne found herself fixed on his gaze, unable to look away.

And it was not in any endearing or enchanting manner, instead it was a cold, chilling feeling of being ensnared in an eerie pool of nothingness.

A moment passed before Adrienne realized her stare had lingered much too long. Adrienne shook her head slightly, diverting her gaze away from the eyes fixed on her.

"If you have seen enough, then come." The young boy called to Adrienne.

His tone was deep and hoarse, far different from his appearance. He instead sounded like an aged man that had seen many decades or perhaps centuries even.

Adrienne reached out with her magic, feeling for any traces of signs that could tell her of what race this young boy was but there was nothing.

"Do not waste your efforts, your magic will be of no help to you here." The young boy said, somehow he knew exactly what Adrienne was trying to do.

Adrienne took a cautious step back, a wary look in her eyes. She had come here to consult a seer, but this strange young boy did not appear to be one...he appeared to be something worse. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"Caution is good... but it is a little too late for that now, would you not agree? You are already here... Should you find out what I am, would you then leave empty handed?" The young boy posed a question.

Adrienne was taken aback by the question, it was true she had come here already knowing she was taking the dark side to achieve her goals.

And it was also true that she had told herself this was what she absolutely had to do and there was no going back.

So what did the origins of the young seer matter? The young seer knew exactly what was on Adrienne’s mind and that only unsettled her even more.

"How do you know me?" Adrienne asked warily as she took a cautious step forward, once again stepping into the light.

"I do not... I have met a kin of yours once. Only one with something to hide comes before me in such a manner, when your aunt consulted me decades ago, she was also in a similar attire... I assume you received her guidance." The young boy said.

"You are the seer then." Adrienne realized.

"It is easy to tell that you are closely related to the head of the third Fae clan. And amongst the two princesses, Keila surely would not step foot in a place such as this." The young seer replied.

Adrienne glanced down at herself, she had dressed exactly as her aunt had mentioned when she told Adrienne of her visit to the Broken Blade.

Perhaps Adrienne should have given it a little more thought, but it was hard to foresee that her attire would give her off.

"It was my oversight then." Adrienne murmured in relief.

It was easier to accept that she had not disguised herself well enough than to accept that this seer had figured out who she was all by himself.

"If that is the answer that will soothe you... then so it is." The seer replied.

His words left Adrienne utterly baffled, had he only said what he knew Adrienne would want to hear?

If so, then did he truly figure out Adrienne’s identity all on his own and even referred to her by her birth title of princess and not as Lady Adrienne as she had been more often called in the past decades since arriving Dragon Keep.

"You have come to seek answers, have you not? Why stand so far off?" The seer asked, his gaze still fixed on Adrienne.

The intensity of the seer’s stare was unnerving and Adrienne took a moment to steady her mind before she moved closer.

"Can you provide me the answers I seek, then?" Adrienne asked slowly as she stopped before the seer.

"It depends on what questions you shall ask, Adrienne." The seer replied, gesturing for Adrienne to sit.

"What is that to mean?" Adrienne asked.

She had come a long way, only with this answers could she execute her plan upon her return and restore everything back to its rightful place.

"I can give you the answers you seek, Adrienne. I shall also give you the answers you do not know you seek." The seer assured, his lips stretching into a smile.

Adrienne lowered herself to a sit, taking off her hood and mask as she did.

The seer already knew who she was, there was no use for a disguise down here anymore.

"What do you know about the answers I seek?" Adrienne asked suspiciously.

"Before I give you the answers you seek, you must answer a question of mine." The seer said, his smile still set on his lips.

"I already made a bargain before I was granted a consult. What other terms must I comply with?" Adrienne asked with a frown.

"A promise in blood? It is a worthy bargain indeed, but is of no use to me if your answer is not right."

"You wish to enquire into matters not known to man, to source for answers through forbidden methods, no price is too great to pay." The seer stated clearly.

Adrienne’s frown deepened, but she had already come this far and so she nodded in agreement.

"Here goes my question, it is not so complicated, all it requires is a simple answer." The seer assured as he rose to his feet, his very first movement other than moving his gaze.

"There had been a time when the Fae stood at the peak of the supernatural realm, before the uprising. Even the dark empire would not dare offend your kind but sought alliance instead."

"While the beasts of Asvar were slaves in chains, the most dishonored race of those times... The Fae clans stood the greatest chance to overthrow the dynasty of dark sorcery..."

"All the glory and supremacy of the dragons would have belonged to the Fae if only they had taken a brave stand before the dragons rose up to reclaim their freedom." The seer said.

As the seer spoke, he walked slowly, his hand stretched out at the side and his fingers trailing the walls.

"The Fae even embraced the greatest strength set before them, birthing the clans of dark fairies... Fae clans who dabbled in dark sorcery. With their natural affinity for magic and the dark arts, "

"The Fae would easily have conquered the dark empire and built an even greater empire out of it’s ruins... even the beasts of Asvar would then be enslaved to the Fae."

"There would never have been a dynasty greater or more powerful and your kind knew this. So tell me then, why did your kind fail to cease such a great opportunity and left it to the dragons instead?" The seer asked.

Adrienne was completely stunned, the seer knew so well about the history of the Fae that they did not even speak of amongst themselves.

"The...dragons were too strong...we could not make an enemy of then." Adrienne stuttered out uncertainly.

"At the time, the dragons were still in bondage. Controlled by dark magic, they could never have stood a chance against your kind." The seer replied with a quiet chuckle.

"I...the dragons deserve their freedom. The Fae Clan had no reason to prevent it or take the side of the sorcerers." Adrienne defended.

"A righteous act?...It is truly unfitting to your kind. Your kind already took the side of the dark sorcerers for centuries, watching the enslavement of dragons from the sidelines."

"I do not believe your kind ever wanted the dragons to be free... because only when the dragons were enslaved could your kind be the strongest race."

"The moment the dragons reclaimed their freedom, seven Fae clans were completely annihilated alongside the dark sorcerers for their ties with dark magic."

"This freedom you claim they deserve was not at all beneficial to your clan." The seer countered.

"Those clans deserved what they got, the Fae’s who stood with the dragons were rewarded for their loyalty and still live in privilege." Adrienne replied firmly.

"Your kind could have had it all, then you would have no use for a privilege."

"The true reason Adrienne, I am certain you know of it. It is a knowledge passed down amongst Fae royalty, I know that much." The seer said again.
