Omega's Rebirth
Chapter 275: A Strange Vision 2 ()
The rider kept walking on, stopping ever so often to glance around and there were times when she would lean down, placing a palm on the ground to check for vibrations.
All the while, Dante followed closely behind, he had already confirmed that this was just a vision playing out around him and the rider could not see him at all.
What was more, Dante still could not catch the slightest glimpse of the her appearance as her movement was swift and purposeful.
Dante could not tell if the rider knew exactly where she was headed, but he deduced her intention was to find a way out of the tunnel.
From her swift movement, Dante could tell she was in a hurry and she seemed agitated too, though she did a very good job of concealing her emotions.
"Is this a vision for the high maiden? Or is this related to me in someway? I do not recognize her at all." Dante murmured to himself as he trailed the rider.
Dante could not tell much of the rider but the fact that she was female and she was most definitely a trained fighter.
She was equally sensitive to her environment and extremely alert, picking up the slightest sounds even from insects skittering past.
"She is strong, I can say that much." Dante concluded to himself but that still did not help him understand the significance of this vision.
There was not much else Dante could do but keep following and so he did just that.
Not long after, they arrived at a split path, two tunnel openings leading in different directions and again the rider crouched down to the ground, in an attempt to decipher the right path.
"Left...left is the way out." The rider murmured to herself only after a moment.
Then she continued on, doubling her step with such great speed that Dante quite nearly lost her again.
Dante somehow managed to keep track of her movement and after a short while past, the tunnel opened out ahead of them, just as the rider had predicted.
The rider hurried on till she emerged from the end of the tunnel and Dante was right behind her, walking out into a vast forest.
"They shouldn’t be far... I must find them." The rider murmured to herself.
Or perhaps it was her thoughts Dante was hearing since he could not tell for certain that the rider had moved her lips.
Somehow, Dante could sense an air of importance around this rider, there was just something about her that was regal and imposing.
Something about her that told Dante she was a significant piece of a puzzle, but what puzzle exactly? Dante could not tell.
All Dante knew was that he hoped for her to find whatever it was she was seeking and perhaps the point of this vision was to see that she did.
However this train of thought left Dante’s mind when he heard a low growl that sent the earth rumbling.
The hairs on the back of Dante’s neck stood on end and his instincts immediately surged the forefront of his mind, alerting him of danger.
A horrible stench hung low in the air, it smelt of dead, decaying bodies and Dante’s gaze narrowed slightly, his eyes scanning the forest warily.
This time, Dante was the one who crouched down, placing a hand over the earth.
Dante tuned his senses and felt it, the tremors that reached down deep. Dante could not tell what it meant, but he knew one thing for sure.
"Something is out there..." Dante realized, jumping to his feet with the intent to warn the unsuspecting rider.
But she was already far gone ahead, Dante only caught a glimpse of her cloak as she disappeared into the trees.
"Wait! Wait, you can’t go in there!" Dante called out to the rider in panic, hurrying after the rider as quickly as he could.
Yet it was a futile attempt, she moved to fast and even if Dante could catch up, how could he warn the rider of great danger when she could not even see him?
"I have to do something!" Dante thought to himself in urgency, hurrying in the direction the rider had taken.
Dante could not leave it be, whoever this rider was, she was bonded to one of his kin... she was the life and world of a dragon lord.
Dante knew just how it felt to lose that one person the Creator had made especially for you, he could not let another go through it if he could help it.
Dante ran as fast as he could, calling out to the rider desperately but not once did she glance back and his warnings fell on deaf ears.
In his haste, Dante moved too fast and beyond the allowance of the cuff that held his limbs down.
Dante was tugged down and he lost his balance, crashing down to the ground with a pained grunt.
"You can’t go in there! You can’t!" Dante called out as he struggled back up to his feet.
His voice was cut off by the sound of birds taking flight, hundreds of them rose from the trees, terrified and escaping from something.
Dante glanced up, his eyes widening in horror as a gigantic shadow rose above the forest, blocking out the sunlight and casting the forest in darkness.
Another low rumble shook the forest and Dante’s mouth dropped open as the silhouette of a great beast became visible to him.
It was far in the distance, yet the silhouette before Dante was as large as three great dragons together in one.
Dante knew it too, that there was no way that young rider could face this great beast all by herself,
Without her dragon, she would be crushed before she could draw her blade.
"Save her... I have to save her!" Dante thought to himself urgently as he reached within with all he had, calling desperately to his dragon side.
