Omega's Rebirth
Chapter 265: The Rider’s Academy ()
"The hall of history! Now!" Master Maloway had ordered furiously, before storming off in a flurry of anger...a rather amusing sight considering his movement was aided entirely by his cane.
A lot more had been said since Neveah’s outburst had attracted a crowd, riders and dragon guards alike to restrain Neveah.
Not like they would have had any success, Neveah had only stopped because Menarx had come to mind... otherwise, it would have taken a lot more than a few dragon guards to put her down.
Master Maloway’s order to escort her to the hall of history was all Neveah had truly heard through her haze of fury, every other word of reasoning or reprimand has gone unheard.
And now, not a long time after that order was given, Neveah walked slowly down the hallway, escorted by four riders and two dragon guards as she was guided back to the first tower.
Unsurprisingly, amongst the four riders assigned to escort Neveah, two were already familiar to her, Elina and Fiona.
"Neveah! Neveah!" Elina called Neveah’s attention repeatedly even when she was constantly ignored.
Neveah’s gaze was blank as she put one feet ahead of the other, the presence of her wolf still right on the surface, pacing restlessly and bristling in anger.
It was already a struggle for Neveah to restrain her wolf, she did not have the leisure to bother with the opinion of some rider.
All the while, Fiona and the other riders were quiet.
Fiona particularly who was nursing a head injury and was most likely still reeling from the fact that had Neveah wanted it, she could have easily ripped off Fiona’s head.
Neveah wondered exactly what the riders had thought a wolf shifter was if not a beast of a man... much like the dragon shifters.
"El... I think you should let her be." One of the riders Neveah was not familiar with warned.
There was now a distant wariness exuded by the riders, Neveah found it much more suitable than the arrogant air they carried around her not too long ago.
"Neveah! I know you hear me, ignoring me is childish!" Elina called Neveah’s attention again, reaching out a hand to Neveah’s shoulder.
Neveah paused in her step, passing a glance to Elina, Neveah bared her teeth warningly.
Elina was quick to retract her hand, her gaze fixed on Neveah’s glowing eyes.
"You do not scare me, put away your canines." Elina stated calmly.
Neveah regarded Elina for a moment before she growled lowly, her eyes fluttering closed. When they came open again, Neveah’s eyes were back to normal.
"I know that." Neveah replied with a roll of her eyes.
Elina’s gaze narrowed slightly at Neveah’s response. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"What did I tell you of offending Master Maloway?!" Elina hissed, now that she had Neveah’s attention.
"That it was something I do not want to do." Neveah replied blankly as she continued walking.
"And... what did you do a few minutes later?" Elina asked.
"Offend him." Neveah replied with a casual shrug.
"You do not understand the severity of your actions, do you? You threatened Master Maloway’s life." Elina pointed out with a shake of her head.
"If I wanted him dead, he would be. Same goes for everyone else." Neveah replied calmly.
"You really believe yourself capable of taking on the dragon guards?" Elina asked with a scoff.
"I believe if I wanted to leave... I would, or die trying." Neveah clarified.
Elina shook her head in resignation, knowing she could not get through to Neveah.
"Then there is no hope of convincing you to seek his forgiveness?" Elina asked.
"None at all." Neveah agreed calmly.
"I for one believe it was hilarious, I have never seen Master Maloway so steaming mad... though giving it another thought, that is probably not a very good turn out for you. I’m Janice by the way." The unfamiliar rider who had spoken before said again.
She was dressed in a deep purple rider’s dress with silver embroidery much like Neveah’s own suit, though Neveah’s was much more exquisite.
"Rider of Lord Veron of the second squadron. Sadly...still in training." Janice added.
"Hmmm." Was all Neveah said.
"Janice, do not encourage this silliness." Elina reprimanded.
"I would appreciate an introduction too, though everyone already knows who you are." Janice continued, ignoring Elina’s reprimand.
Elina sighed in exasperation and Neveah considered it for a moment before she replied.
"Neveah." Neveah murmured beneath her breath but Janice still stared expectantly at her.
"Rider of Lord Menarx of the King’s guard." Neveah finished knowing that was the introduction Janice expected.
"The Lady of Ruby Scales... your rightful title amongst us riders and on the council is Her Eminence. The King’s guard are Our Liege’s brothers, hence they are royalty. We’re all meant to bow in greeting and everything." Janice informed.
"You should learn to keep your mouth shut, Janice." Fiona grumbled beneath her breath.
"Why? So you get to act superior to your superior? I hear the stunt you pulled earlier, while you could never stand in Lord Menarx’s presence without trembling." Janice countered.
Fiona had no words to argue Janice’s point and so she grumbled quietly but said nothing more.
"Pay her no heed, It’s only that new riders get a distant regard most of the time. It is not easy for us riders to bond as easily as our Lord Dragons do."
"They are one clan...a family, while we are all too different. Different species, different values, we must learn to find a way to get past our differences and that is a core purpose of the academy." Janice explained.
"Your title considered, just as it is with the Lord Dragons, no one in the academy is above or beneath the other." Elina chipped in.
"I know my title... I also know I will have to earn it. I will expect nothing till I do." Neveah replied as they made another turn down a hall.
"Was it the note that angered you so?" Elina asked after a moment of silence.
