Obtaining Top Art on Family's Extermination Night
Chapter 147 - 109: Purging the Demon Cave
The Palm Power seemed to erupt from a single point but instantly spread in all directions, enveloping every red-shirted and red-robed man within a thirty-foot radius.
A chorus of cracking bones followed.
SPURT! SPURT! SPURT!
Blood sprayed from their mouths as the few red-robed men at the forefront were sent flying, tumbling directly into the deep pit ahead.
The path before Fang Shuwen was instantly cleared.
With that single palm strike, he had killed most of the twenty-odd red-shirted men who had charged him.
However, the Palm Power had been too dispersed to be lethal to everyone. Some had survived the initial blast and now lay wailing on the ground.
Fang Shuwen finished them off casually as he walked forward.
The red-shirted men farther away watched in utter terror.
’Where did this Killing God come from?’
An immense fear swelled in their hearts as they watched Fang Shuwen’s ruthlessly efficient slaughter.
One of them instinctively shuffled backward. Once he felt he’d put some distance between himself and Fang Shuwen, he tried to flip over and get to his feet, but his injuries were too severe. He couldn’t stand.
He resorted to crawling away on all fours.
He’d only managed a few paces when a hand suddenly gripped his ankle. He looked back, and his heart skipped a beat.
Fang Shuwen was holding his ankle. Their eyes met, and Fang Shuwen smiled.
"Where do you think you’re going?"
"Stay... stay away..."
The red-shirted man blurted out the words, hardly believing he was the one saying them.
’Since when did men of the Dragon Emperor Hall stoop to begging like this?’
But the terror Fang Shuwen inspired in that moment eclipsed even Undying Island and the Dragon Emperor Hall.
Unfortunately, Fang Shuwen wasn’t one to show mercy just because his opponent was terrified.
He simply said in a low voice,
"Don’t worry. This will be quick."
As the words left his lips, he flung the man with a flick of his wrist.
There was a practiced technique to the throw. The red-shirted man hit the wall with a sickening THUD, his skull cracking as he died instantly.
He had used this method once before, outside Flying Snow City.
It proved just as effective this time.
Miao Feichan tsk-tsked.
"I’m starting to feel sorry for them."
"...Empathizing with evil men isn’t a good habit to get into."
"Who said I was empathizing with *you*?"
"..."
Fang Shuwen suddenly sighed.
"I finally understand why your Lightweight Technique is so good."
"Why’s that?"
Miao Feichan asked instinctively.
"If your Lightweight Technique wasn’t fast enough, someone would have beaten you to death for that mouth of yours long ago."
Fang Shuwen was clearly getting his revenge with that comment.
Miao Feichan paused. She suddenly recalled saying almost the exact same thing to him just last night—that if his Martial Arts weren’t so formidable, he’d have been beaten to death long ago.
’This guy really holds a grudge, doesn’t he?’
’Getting even over a single comment?’
She asked casually,
"So what did these guys do to piss you off?"
"They tried to kill me."
Fang Shuwen said with a small smile.
Miao Feichan laughed too. ’Are these people insane?’
’With Fang Shuwen’s level of Martial Arts, people should be burning incense and thanking the heavens that he doesn’t come looking for *them*.’
’And yet, some people were actually suicidal enough to pick a fight with him?’
’They must have a death wish!’
By this point, Fang Shuwen had reached the edge of the deep pit. To his left, a gentle slope spiraled down into its depths.
Carved into the walls alongside the slope were numerous man-made caves, providing shelter for them.
Just then, a large group of red-shirted men was ascending the slope, clearly drawn by the commotion to provide reinforcements.
Fang Shuwen ignored them, remarking instead,
"Looks like they’re not having a great time of it, either."
"How could one sleep soundly in the shadow of Yuqing Pavilion?"
Miao Feichan said coolly.
"Did you really think Yu Yaoguang was just a figurehead?" 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Hearing this, Fang Shuwen was about to ask more about Yu Yaoguang, but the group of red-shirted men had already reached them.
Without asking any more questions, he charged into their midst. Before the lead red-robed man could even complete his Palm Technique, Fang Shuwen smashed him out of the air with a Vajra Tower Throwing.
The force of the blow took down several other red-shirted men with him.
What followed was a flurry of effortless parries and counters from Fang Shuwen. His techniques flowed freely, and a cacophony of screams filled the air.
Some died on the spot. Others were knocked into the deep pit. A few were driven headfirst into the ground, while others were simply slammed into the rock walls.
In a matter of moments, Fang Shuwen had slaughtered the entire group of red-shirted and red-robed men.
But he didn’t go back to asking about Yu Yaoguang. Instead, he frowned slightly.
"Something’s not right."
"It doesn’t look like you’re having any trouble."
Miao Feichan didn’t understand why his tone had suddenly turned so grave.
Fang Shuwen said slowly,
"I captured one of them earlier. He said their group was split in two.
"One group of about six hundred, which I wiped out outside Flying Snow City.
"This is the other group... but does this look like six hundred people to you?"
At his words, Miao Feichan looked around. Fang Shuwen had been killing people nonstop since they’d entered the cavern.
Besides the first four who died, two separate waves of red-shirted men had launched what amounted to suicide charges against him.
All told, that was about sixty or seventy men.
Looking down the slope, she could see there were still many more people below, but definitely not five hundred.
Two hundred at most, maybe only one hundred.
"Even counting the ones we’ve killed, there are three hundred men here at most.
"You think the man you captured was lying?"
Miao Feichan suggested.
But Fang Shuwen shook his head.
