Zombie Bodyguard-Chapter 1672 - 1669: Karate Styles
Kunno Saburo waved his hand, and two people ran out behind him to help Jin Luxian up and off the field. He wasn’t seriously injured, just that his foot was swollen from being kicked. For a martial artist, this was practically negligible; what was hurt was his pride, his face utterly lost.
Kunno Saburo slowly turned around, looking at Lin Tian, squinting his already small eyes, with a snake-like venomous gaze shooting out. As he clenched his fists, his knuckles crackled.
Xiao Yu wasn’t wrong; Japanese people’s eyes are small, naturally giving them a creepy look.
"What are you looking at me for, old man? You want to help me brush up my skill proficiency too?" Lin Tian said casually with a relaxed smile, causing the onlookers to burst into laughter again.
Mu Binglan quickly stepped forward, standing beside Lin Tian, and whispered, "As agreed, I’ll take the second round. You should go and rest."
She was actually a bit worried about Lin Tian getting the worse of it against Kunno Saburo. She couldn’t quite understand whether Lin Tian knew martial arts or if he simply had greater strength and stamina than others.
Lin Tian naturally understood Mu Binglan’s intention, but he didn’t explain anything. He ceremoniously cupped his fists to the crowd before retreating behind the Martial Arts Club’s booth, standing together with Xiao Manxuan and He Xiaofei.
"Lin Tian, your act is quite convincing," Xiao Manxuan said with a mischievous smile.
Lin Tian blinked innocently and said, "Wasn’t it you and Miss who told me? To keep a low profile at school, not to attract too much attention. I’ve always acted on this principle."
"Beating someone to the point where they look for their teeth on the ground, that’s low-key? And look at those girls’ eyes on you, you didn’t attract them?" Xiao Manxuan said helplessly. If this is considered low-key, what would high-key look like?
Lin Tian remained earnest, "If I weren’t low-key, Jin Luxian would already be in the hospital. As for those girls, I can’t control their thoughts."
"Hehe, I’m just teasing you. You did a great job earlier, that’s how they should be taught a lesson." The serious look on the little girl’s face suddenly turned into a playful smile, like a little demoness whose intentions couldn’t be guessed.
"Lin Tian, do you really know martial arts?" Qiao Xiaoyi asked with a puzzled expression. It wasn’t just him; the surrounding members of the Martial Arts Club were puzzled as well. At their level, naturally, they couldn’t see what was going on.
Lin Tian spread his hands, innocently saying, "I was just about to master the sweeping leg when that guy, fearing death, lay on the ground like a dead pig and wouldn’t get up. I was even planning to practice Black Tiger Heart-Pulling after mastering the sweeping leg."
He spoke a bit loudly, so the members of the Karate Club outside all heard it, including Jin Luxian.
Originally, he was playing dead, but upon hearing Lin Tian describe him as a dead pig, this Korean exchange student immediately jumped up in anger, looking like he wanted to rush over and fight Lin Tian, but his companions quickly held him back.
Kunno Saburo glanced at Lin Tian and then at Mu Binglan, "Your people are a bit arrogant."
"Not as arrogant as you guys challenging our club, only to find you’re hitting a dead end," Mu Binglan retorted coldly with a defiant grin.
"Even if it’s a dead end, I will still kick through it. I hope you’re not like Lin Tian, just overconfident—show me something impressive." Kunno Saburo smirked disdainfully, clearly thinking that Lin Tian’s fighting style was not up to standard. He also felt that, regardless of a woman’s martial arts skills, her level would be limited.
After saying that, he noticed that Mu Binglan remained expressionless, without anger or rebuttal, and her calm gaze was somewhat terrifying.
A sense of unease inexplicably spread within him. Kunno Saburo shook his head slightly, trying to dismiss the feeling, thinking to himself that it must be an illusion. No way a mere woman could intimidate him.
Upon closer inspection of Mu Binglan, Kunno Saburo saw no old callouses from long-term training on her, in contrast, her skin was even more delicate than the average girl’s. Despite her tall height, she didn’t have particularly exaggerated muscles; she was even slimmer than most girls.
From any angle, she didn’t seem like a master. Kunno Saburo’s unease dissipated as a result.
Kunno Saburo’s ability to observe opponents’ details proved his fighting skills far surpassed those of Jin Luxian, but he clearly lacked complete understanding of Huaxia martial arts, as to develop skills, one doesn’t necessarily need toughened callouses.
The members of the Karate Club outside seemed to sense something was off as well, as they realized they had never seen Kunno Saburo so cautious since the challenge began.
"What’s Kunno-kun thinking, get it over with quickly, or something unexpected might happen and ruin everything," Jin Luxian whispered, frowning deeply.
"It’s just a tomboy, no unexpected turns should occur," commented a companion, somewhat uncertainly.
The members of the Karate Club themselves did not realize that the tone of their speech had lost the arrogance and pride from when they initially arrived, thanks to the blow to their faces received from Lin Tian.
"Brother Lin, will Sister Lan be alright?" Xiao Yu cautiously asked.
Initially, he hadn’t thought much of Lin Tian, but after seeing Lin Tian beat Jin Luxian to the ground—though the way he fought was rather strange—he was ultimately victorious. Hence his tone and address were now markedly different.
The other club members and Qiao Xiaoyi, He Xiaofei all looked at Lin Tian. Lin Tian smiled slightly, "Some of you are second and third-year students, but why do you call her Sister Lan?"
Xiao Yu answered quickly, "Because Sister Lan is formidable, none of us in the club can beat her, and she promised to teach us real skills."
"Isn’t that reassuring then? Your Sister Lan is formidable, there’s no need to worry about her not beating a small Japanese guy," Lin Tian stated calmly, which slightly reassured the club members, though their hearts couldn’t fully settle.
No matter what everyone was thinking, Mu Binglan and Kunno Saburo stood in the middle of the field. The circles drawn by Lin Tian with his sweeping leg were still on the ground, yet the two seemed unfazed, their gazes focused solely on each other.
"Hai..."
Kunno Saburo suddenly let out a shout, making rapid steps forward with his right foot, each step even-paced, unlike Jin Luxian’s hasty approach. As he got near Mu Binglan, the hand at his waist suddenly lashed out, like a sword drawn from its sheath.
In Japanese martial arts, there is a technique called the Sword Drawing Style, which uses the moment of drawing the sword to unleash a sudden, ferocious force on the enemy with great power. In Karate, there’s also a basic move called the hand knife, where the hand knife typically swings down from above to cut the opponent.
Ordinary people’s palm strength is limited, so the hand knife’s impact during combat is generally limited, but there’s a Karate sect called the Jizhen Karate Sect, whose founder excelled in using the hand knife. With a single hand knife, they could break bricks and even shatter hard cobblestones.
Its power is comparable to that of an average Ancient Martial Artist, and such striking force would surely injure bones and muscles if aimed at a person. However, reaching this level requires profound skills, and clearly, Kunno Saburo didn’t have such skills.
