Zombie Bodyguard-Chapter 1667 - 1664: Securing Sponsorships
"Zhao Weitao, you’re everywhere!"
Lin Tian and his companions turned around and looked at the newcomer, who was Zhao Weitao, the one who made a fool of himself during rock climbing. However, he seemed unaffected by that incident, just like before.
"I’m a member of the Adventure Club, why shouldn’t I be here? Besides, the school isn’t owned by you; I can be wherever I want." Zhao Weitao’s gaze swept over Lin Tian and his friends, a cold smile on his face.
He Xiaofei frowned slightly and looked at the female president: "President, since when did Zhao Weitao become a member of ours?"
"Just now, and he’s applied for the position of External Liaison Leader, which we’ve unanimously approved. You’re the leader of the Activity Group, so you’ll have to foster a good relationship with him going forward." The female president seemed unaware of the grudges between He Xiaofei and Zhao Weitao, explaining with a smile.
"But..." He Xiaofei tried to explain something, but the female president waved her hand continuously.
The female president stopped her from speaking further, seriously saying, "Although I don’t know what conflicts you’ve had in the past, from today’s conversation, I’ve noticed some tensions. But these are minor matters; we’re all classmates. There shouldn’t be any grudges that can’t be resolved."
"Just as I’ve made an exception to promote you as the Activity Leader, we’re making an exception for him to be the External Liaison Leader. You are both freshmen, and he promised during the interview that he would bring in a major external liaison for us, which is a source of his confidence." The female president continued to explain.
Zhao Weitao glanced at Lin Tian, then at He Xiaofei, with a half-smiling expression: "Leader He, your Activity Group’s future funding will depend on our External Liaison Group seeking sponsorship. If there are any conflicts in the future, I hope you can bear some responsibility."
It was a threat, a blatant threat. The main task of the External Liaison Department is to raise funds for the club’s events, essentially the financial lifeline of a club.
Holding events solely based on membership fees is impossible. Collecting too many fees may lead to member complaints, potentially even complaints to the school. Thus, to hold decent events, external liaison funding is necessary.
"Brother Lin, what is external liaison?" Qiao Xiaoyi, unfamiliar with clubs, asked curiously.
"It’s basically the club people going out to communicate with external merchants, persuading them to sponsor the club’s event funds, commonly known as seeking sponsorship. We, in turn, offer naming rights, advertise on posters, etc., as a form of mutual benefit. Of course, the stronger the External Liaison Department, the more sponsorship funds they can attract." Lin Tian explained it to him plainly.
With Zhao Weitao being a wealthy second generation, getting an external liaison isn’t difficult. Perhaps that’s why the female president made an exception for him, a freshman, to become the External Liaison Leader.
As for why He Xiaofei became the Activity Leader, there’s likely a reason too. The president isn’t foolish and wouldn’t easily appoint an inexperienced freshman as the head of a department.
"Leader He, I know why you became the Activity Leader. Isn’t it because your father is a professor at our school? We’re no different, so don’t look down on me." Zhao Weitao said indifferently, a meaningful smile hanging on his face.
He Xiaofei’s dad is a professor? Lin Tian and Xiao Manxuan all looked at her, realizing this class monitor came from an academic family, with her dad being a professor at the school. No wonder she’s so familiar with the school’s situation; she might have even grown up there.
However, with He Xiaofei’s character, she likely wouldn’t do such a thing, but it can’t be ruled out that the female president considered this.
He Xiaofei’s face turned cold, solemnly saying, "I, He Xiaofei, work based on my own capabilities. I don’t need you to make sarcastic remarks."
"You two don’t need to argue; I know both of your capacity to work is excellent. Right now, there’s a major event ahead; each of you should do your own work. Whoever performs exceptionally will be promoted to Deputy President. Incidentally, there’s an empty Deputy President position, and this event will serve as an assessment." The female president interrupted their dispute.
She then addressed the other leaders: "Everyone has a chance at this competitive position. You can actively compete too. I support healthy competition, but I don’t like secretive underhanded moves!"
These words were said to remind all major responsible parties, including He Xiaofei and Zhao Weitao, to showcase their abilities openly and not to resort to shady tactics.
"President, aside from the External Liaison Group, can other departments seek sponsorship?" Lin Tian suddenly interjected, making everyone present very curious.
The female president hesitated for a moment, then reacted: "Principally, sponsorship is handled by the External Liaison Group, but if other departments have the capability, they can also seek sponsorship. Of course, the premise is to do their primary work well. If they do their job well and can also secure external liaison, it illustrates the department’s excellence."
"Lin Tian, what are you planning?" Xiao Manxuan tugged at Lin Tian’s clothes, asking softly.
Lin Tian winked at her, then smiled at the female president: "In that case, I’m joining the club and applying to the Activity Group."
"Oh?" The female president was surprised for a moment, then extended her hand generously and shook Lin Tian’s hand: "I recognize you, the most popular freshman male student, Lin Tian. Welcome to the Adventure Club."
"I want to join too." Xiao Manxuan said with a sweet smile, following Lin Tian’s lead.
"We’re all joining!" Mu Binglan and Qiao Xiaoyi stepped forward calmly and declared.
"Thank you all." He Xiaofei expressed her heartfelt gratitude, knowing Lin Tian and the others were supporting her with their actions.
"You’re our class monitor, of course we should support you, right?" Lin Tian joked, making Qiao Xiaoyi and the others laugh.
He Xiaofei registered Lin Tian and the others, and after paying the membership fees, Lin Tian officially joined his first club in university.
Zhao Weitao smiled throughout, a dismissive smile, knowing that although he cannot compare to Lin Tian in climbing, his advantage lies not in sports, but in wealth, and his social circles are affluent.
To him, securing sponsorship, appearing difficult to others, is a piece of cake. Thus, he looked at Lin Tian and his friends dismissively, inwardly thinking that securing sponsorship isn’t merely about exceptional capability; connections and resources are crucial.
Lin Tian didn’t bother guessing what she thought, and after completing the registration, was about to leave when Zhao Weitao suddenly said: "There’s a banquet in a few days; I wonder if you’re interested in trying your luck. If these big bosses get excited, the club’s annual event funding will be secured."
After speaking, he took out a card from his pocket, held it between two fingers, and flicked it with force, sending the card spinning towards Lin Tian.
Many have played with flying cards, and flying cards spin through the air unpredictably, making them difficult to catch. Zhao Weitao certainly intended to embarrass Lin Tian.
Lin Tian’s lips curled into a faint smile, his right hand suddenly stretched out. Before the surrounding people could see clearly, the card was already in his hand.
