Zombie Bodyguard-Chapter 1480 - 1477: Ling Pavilion Master’s Insight
Situ Ming’s roar was clearly for show to outsiders, but Situ Ruoling didn’t care who it was for. Aggrieved and angry, she shouted, "You all bully me; I’ll go back and tell Grandpa to kill you all!"
After shouting, she turned and ran off. Situ Yufeng glanced at Lin Tian fleetingly, said nothing, and also left.
Situ Ming clasped his fists and said to Wang Wanxi, "Today’s events were indeed the fault of the younger generation, and I sincerely apologize. I ask for Miss Wang’s forgiveness. Farewell."
These words were rather insincere, not truly apologetic in tone, and with that, the members of the Situ family left.
"Humph, the Situ family is too arrogant," Ling Shuiyao said indignantly.
Lin Tian glanced at the little girl, then said to Wang Wanxi, "Aunt Wang, how did you all end up together?"
Being together with Tang Ziqing wasn’t surprising as Wang Wanxi went to find Tang Ziqing for a place to cultivate in seclusion. What was surprising was the presence of people from Langya Pavilion.
Wang Wanxi’s demeanor returned to normal, seemingly unaffected by the earlier events. With her spiritual mindset, such trivial matters certainly wouldn’t faze her.
"I was just looking for Ziqing, and it happened that Pavilion Master Ling was there too, so we all came to have a meal together," Wang Wanxi explained casually.
"I see, then I won’t disturb you. Please enjoy your meal," Lin Tian glanced at Tang Ziqing and the Pavilion Master, let out a chuckle, and said.
He understood that Wang Wanxi invited them for dinner to discuss the matter of secluded cultivation. Lin Tian was unwilling to get involved lest they ask why the elixir was with Wang Wanxi, and that would be hard to explain; Tang Ziqing and Pavilion Master Ling aren’t easy to fool. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Saying this, he pulled Ghost and Yun Xiaotian, intending to enter the restaurant. But suddenly, the previously silent Pavilion Master Ling spoke.
"You’re Lin Tian? You’re also here to dine, why not join us?" Pavilion Master Ling suggested, her eyes fixed on Lin Tian’s, seemingly with a hint of doubt deep within them.
Lin Tian’s heart stirred. Could this female Pavilion Master discern something just through her gaze? Some people possess frightening insight, and such possibilities cannot be ruled out.
Ling Shuiyao observed Lin Tian and Pavilion Master Ling’s faces back and forth and suddenly said, "Aunt, your eyes are quite similar to Lin Tian’s. For those not in the know, one might think Lin Tian’s ’Lin’ is from Ling Xiao."
These words caused everyone present to display strange expressions, each showing something different.
The little girl’s remark caused some awkwardness; those uninformed might suspect Pavilion Master Ling has an illegitimate child outside. He feigned coughing and said, "Cough, cough, my eating manners are quite unpleasant, better not spoil the sight for you heroines."
"You don’t want to dine with us; are you afraid we and Ziqing might eat you? Or do you think we’re too old and there’s a generation gap between us and you young folks?" Pavilion Master Ling seriously pursued the matter as if she wouldn’t relent until Lin Tian agreed.
What on earth is wrong with this Pavilion Master? It’s our first meeting—well, strictly speaking, first direct meeting. Previously she was masked; a grand Pavilion Master pulling a junior to dine together? It’s illogical! Lin Tian was bewildered about what Pavilion Master Ling might be planning.
Pondering but drawing no conclusions, Lin Tian earnestly said, "Pavilion Master Ling is joking; you and Aunt Wang look like women in their twenties, standing with Miss Shuiyao, others might mistake you for sisters."
One of the things women care most about is age and appearance. Even an Empress cares, except for someone like Charlotte who is ageless and immortal, perpetually youthful.
Thus, compliments like this are always a safe bet with women. Of course, Lin Tian wasn’t lying; though Wang Wanxi and Pavilion Master Ling are past thirty, they hardly look different from twenty-something women, and even better than many at that age.
"Lin Tian, what do you mean, saying I’m old?" Ling Shuiyao became the dissatisfied one, naturally aware of her aunt’s youthful appearance, but didn’t like Lin Tian comparing her to seniors.
The women glanced at the little girl, mischievously glaring at Lin Tian, and kindly smiled. Lin Tian knew this little girl wouldn’t let things be, so he pretended not to hear and said to Pavilion Master Ling, "Since the Pavilion Master kindly invites, I can’t refuse."
Pavilion Master Ling smiled and nodded, entering the restaurant doors with Tang Ziqing and Wang Wanxi.
Ghost and Yun Xiaotian quietly said to Lin Tian, "Brother Tian, about Pavilion Master Ling..."
"No worries, just watch and wait," Lin Tian replied.
"What are you mumbling about? Come clean quickly," Ling Shuiyao suddenly huffed.
Lin Tian and his two companions ignored her, quickly following Wang Wanxi, leaving Ling Shuiyao alone glaring.
Following Pavilion Master Ling and her companions, Lin Tian reached the top floor private room. Seven seats at one table, with room to spare. Soon, a waiter brought a tableful of dishes.
However, looking at the dishes, Lin Tian was somewhat stunned—it’s all vegetarian, not a bit of meat, making Lin Tian feel like he’s at a nun monastery.
"Almost forgot, you young ones need meat. Waiter, serve some meat dishes," Pavilion Master Ling smiled, attentively noticing the issue and arranging for the waiter to serve meat specifically for Lin Tian and his companions.
This greatly improved Lin Tian’s impression of Pavilion Master Ling, who seemed, contrary to popular belief, a kind person.
"Lin Tian, I heard you manage the West Courtyard. When arranging accommodations, did you see someone wearing a mask and dressed in black? He’s missing after auctioning off something, and his money is still with us," Ling Shuiyao said unexpectedly, looking up while gnawing on a roast chicken leg.
With everyone dining, suddenly they all set down their utensils, staring at Lin Tian. Wang Wanxi and her companions naturally knew the truth but couldn’t speak it. Pavilion Master Ling and Tang Ziqing were watchful, as if trying to discern something.
"Cough, cough, Shuiyao Miss knows about the minor details of managing the West Courtyard. But as for the person in black and wearing a mask, I’ve never hosted him; could he be staying in the East Courtyard?" Lin Tian cleverly replied.
It wasn’t a lie since he indeed never hosted that masked, black-clad pharmacist, as he couldn’t host himself.
Pavilion Master Ling suddenly smiled at Lin Tian and said, "Shuiyao, no need to rush regarding that pharmacist; he will surely come to collect it himself."
Lin Tian felt uneasy under her gaze, pondering again whether this female Pavilion Master is so capable to identify someone just by their eyes.
The meal passed without incident. As the waiter cleared the tableware, Pavilion Master Ling and Tang Ziqing looked toward Wang Wanxi, knowing she had something to say.
Wang Wanxi didn’t speak but took a wooden box from the bag she carried, placing it on the table. At the sight of the familiar box, Pavilion Master Ling’s eyes gleamed.
