Chapter 1462: Chapter 1459: Help Me Bid

Ling Shuiyao’s muttering naturally didn’t escape Lin Tian’s ears. Hearing it made his face dark, he’d rather have not heard it. This little girl really dares to say anything, is there no respect for the Pharmacist?

What Lin Tian didn’t know was that this little girl had already labeled him as a sloppy old man, not taking him seriously at all. In the little girl’s perception, anyone who becomes a Pharmacist must be an elderly man.

"Invitation!" Ling Shuiyao extended her hand, saying with some resentment. This resentment, of course, was because Lin Tian had misled her into the men’s restroom. Thinking about it now, she still felt embarrassed.

"Hehe, you thought just wearing black clothes and a mask would allow you to get in? How ridiculous, you were stopped, right?" A martial artist chuckled softly.

"He probably thinks it’s cool, but can coolness be used as a pass?"

Others were about to say something when Lin Tian took out the invitation. The surrounding people immediately widened their eyes, incredulous.

"Wow, he has an invitation?"

"Isn’t it fake?"

"Hard to say, last time someone used a fake invitation and was discovered by Langya Pavilion. He was immediately added to Langya Pavilion’s blacklist, permanently banned from entering the auctions there. I bet every time he thinks about it, he regrets it with tears."

...

The discussion grew even louder, with the focus being on the authenticity of Lin Tian’s invitation. Some were even discussing what would happen to him if he was caught with a fake.

Ling Shuiyao didn’t need to check to know the authenticity of the invitation; she was next door that day. Now, she was only venting a bit of her resentment.

"Alright, go in." Ling Shuiyao glanced at it and returned the invitation, speaking indifferently.

Upon hearing that he could go in, the crowd around stirred, and began speculating about the identity of the man in black.

Lin Tian ignored their discussions, raspily saying, "The invitation allows for three people; I’ll take one in. Miss Ling, you don’t mind, right?"

"Take whoever you like, just hurry, or it’ll be closed." Ling Shuiyao said with irritation.

Lin Tian turned and waved at the strong man. He hesitated for a moment but walked over, cautiously glancing at Ling Shuiyao before speaking, "What’s the order, brother?"

"What’s your name?" Lin Tian asked.

"Xing Shan, Xing as in Xingtian, Shan as in mountain." The strong man shouted heartily, the sound enough to make one’s eardrums hum, full of energy.

Lin Tian’s eyes showed a hint of amusement, "I can take you into the auction, do you want to come?"

"Really?" Xing Shan was stunned, then ecstatic, though he couldn’t quite believe the luck that had befallen him.

"You don’t want to?" Lin Tian asked indifferently.

"Yes, of course, I do. I’ve just entered Jianghu and have heard about this Langya Pavilion. I’ve wanted to come here for ages, but I can’t afford the treasures, just want to see them." Xing Shan hurriedly agreed, smiling like a child, a stark contrast to his crazed attacks earlier.

Lin Tian nodded, saying nothing more, and led Xing Shan into the ancient building. As they left, the outside erupted into chatter, the subject naturally being Lin Tian and Xing Shan.

They all sighed about Xing Shan’s luck, but also regretted why they hadn’t shown themselves to earn the black-clad man’s favor. Now, all they could do was envy with jealousy and bitterness.

Upon entering the ancient building, a black-clad guard led the way for Lin Tian. As soon as he entered the venue, the surroundings quieted down significantly, with the outside commotion entirely cut off. Outside could not hear the auction inside

The auction hall wasn’t large, certainly not compared to those that accommodate thousands. Its structure was similar to that of the venue hosted by the Xiao Family, an ancient two-story building. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

The upper floor has private rooms, and the windows face the auction hall, though they are covered by beaded curtains so people inside cannot be seen, and Lin Tian vaguely saw screens inside, making it very difficult for outsiders to see those inside.

The first floor houses the auction hall, with square tables arranged around. Fruits, snacks, and tea are placed on the tables, many of which are already occupied.

Apart from the family members in the private rooms upstairs, other martial artists sat downstairs. Although the first floor isn’t as high and mighty, it’s closer to the treasures.

However, though closer, approaching is impossible, as there are two piles of people around the stage. On the outside are four women clad in plain skirts, wielding longswords; they’re female swordsmen, clearly disciples of Qingshuang Pavilion.

As the host of the auction site, Qingshuang Pavilion naturally bears the responsibility for safety. Inside are four black-clad guards. Lin Tian has seen these black outfits before; they’re members of Langya Pavilion, and since Langya Pavilion belongs to the Ling Family, naturally, the black-clad guards are also from the Ling Family.

Eight people guard the auction stage, judging by their form and eyes, all quite skilled. Ordinary martial artists couldn’t get close, considering both Langya Pavilion and Qingshuang Pavilion have powerful figures present; even if one desired the treasures, they’d dare not act recklessly.

As Lin Tian stood at the entrance observing the venue, everyone inside looked at him. A masked figure in black was certainly a source of curiosity and vigilance.

Not caring about these unusual eyes, Lin Tian continued to follow the leading guard. He thought the guard would lead him to a seat downstairs, but unexpectedly the guard led him upstairs, surprising everyone present, including the several major families in the private rooms upstairs, and even prompting them to part the bead curtains to scrutinize the man ascending in black.

Everyone wondered about the identity of the masked black-clad man, especially since Langya Pavilion arranged for him to access the upstairs private rooms, which were reserved for powerful families.

On reaching upstairs, the guard opened a room and gestured politely: "Please, gentlemen, before the auction ends, no one will disturb you. If you need anything in the meantime, just use the call bell in the private room and someone will come to attend to you."

Lin Tian nodded, signaling his understanding, then went inside. Xing Shan followed in, examining the room’s decor—new and interesting to him.

Lin Tian ignored him and headed to the window side, finding an ornate screen indeed there.

As he reached the window, Xing Shan came to his senses, hastily advancing to ask respectfully, "Sir, er no, senior, do you have any orders bringing me here?"

Though grateful Lin Tian brought him here, as a rough man, his attempt to speak formally felt out of place.

Waving his hand dismissively, Lin Tian rasped, "My voice isn’t convenient; you’ll help me bid during the auction."
