Zombie Bodyguard-Chapter 1409 - 1406: The Elder by the Lake
"A land that nurtures heroes and the spiritual essence of nature—that must be what this Feng Shui is all about," Ghost exclaimed in awe.
"You’re a warrior through and through, how come you believe in Feng Shui?" Lin Tian glanced at him and teased.
Ghost chuckled and said, "Did Brother Tian forget? I’m also a cultivator, practicing Ancient Yoga Skill, which emphasizes Unity of Heaven and Man during meditation. Actually, Feng Shui isn’t that mystical; when people and their environment harmonize, isn’t that Unity of Heaven and Man?"
These words made Wang Mingyan astonished once again. He looked toward Wang Wanxi and said, "Sister, the people around you are quite extraordinary. Ancient Yoga Skill—it seems this cultivation technique has been lost even in Tianzhu. Also, what is Lin Tian’s cultivation technique? I still haven’t figured it out."
"Xiao Tian practices Ancient Body Technique," Wang Wanxi answered for Lin Tian, sparing him from having to lie again.
"Ancient Body Technique?" Wang Mingyan was startled yet again, then he smiled wryly and shook his head, "Today’s surprises outnumber those I’ve had all year. Ancient Body Technique has long been lost—who would have thought it would reemerge in the Ancient Martial World?"
Wang Wanxi took over the conversation, "It is said that in ancient times, people’s survival environments were extremely harsh. To combat beasts, natural disasters, and various dangers, our ancestors created ways to strengthen the body. When these methods were systematically summarized, they formed the various body techniques of later times. Those who practiced these techniques would have strong, powerful bodies."
"The original intent of body techniques was to strengthen oneself and combat harsh survival conditions, not necessarily for fighting. In fact, many ancient martial arts techniques were invented for self-enhancement or to explore the mysteries of life. It was only over time that Ancient Martial Artists began using them for battle," Wang Wanxi stated.
"As far as I know, Ancient Body Technique isn’t truly lost, because I have seen another body technique cultivation—it was a woman practicing it," Lin Tian interjected.
Wang Mingyan furrowed his brow slightly, seemingly recalling something. After a while, he said, "I remember now, you’re talking about Ning Luoxi, the young girl from the Ning Family, right? Indeed, she also practices Ancient Body Technique."
"Uncle Wang knows Ning Luoxi?" This time it was Lin Tian’s turn to be surprised. It seemed like the world wasn’t as big as imagined. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
"I’ve met her a few times. The Ning Family should be considered a martial arts family; no, accurately speaking, half an Ancient Martial family, as the younger generation of the Ning Family is starting to practice Ancient Martial techniques. Ning Luoxi is extremely talented," Wang Mingyan said briefly, showing admiration for Ning Luoxi.
At this point, Lin Tian had no doubts. So far, Ning Luoxi is the only Ancient Martial Artist who can stand up with punches and kicks against him.
"Alright, the little nephew has rested enough, let’s continue," Wang Mingyan suggested, referring, of course, to Yun Xiaotian.
Even though Yun Xiaotian was physically fit, the intensity of climbing was still a bit too much for him. If it weren’t for Wang Wanxi guiding him, he might have stopped halfway.
"Aunt Wang, let me take Xiao Tian; you all go at full speed, we’ll keep up," Lin Tian offered.
Wang Wanxi hesitated for a moment but eventually let go of Yun Xiaotian’s hand. Lin Tian stepped forward and directly hugged Yun Xiaotian’s waist. They were all men; Lin Tian didn’t overthink it.
Yet, as soon as he embraced Yun Xiaotian, he realized that this kid’s waist was surprisingly soft. Lin Tian instinctively touched it, and Yun Xiaotian’s delicate face instantly blushed, making him oddly alluring.
Geez, I actually touched a man’s waist and had inappropriate thoughts—sinful, sinful. Lin Tian quickly recited "Form is emptiness" ten times to divert his attention.
I’m not turning into a degenerate, am I? Lin Tian thought helplessly. Seriously, as a man, what’s the point of having such a pretty face? Lin Tian blamed the issue on Yun Xiaotian.
While he was lost in thought, Wang Wanxi and Wang Mingyan had already leaped down from the mountain top, their footsteps light as they continued rushing downhill. Lin Tian gathered himself, holding Yun Xiaotian, and jumped down too, following closely behind. Ghost also joined in after.
The weight of Yun Xiaotian posed no burden for Lin Tian; with his level of strength, he could carry Fatty Huang and still sprint effortlessly.
For ordinary folks, climbing is easier than descending, but for Lin Tian and his companions, it only added speed to their downward rush. Before long, they’d descended the first mountain and arrived at the riverbank.
On the flat ground, they found that the two rivers were relatively far apart. Lin Tian and the others continued along the right riverbank.
The river water was extraordinarily clear, revealing round, smooth pebbles at the bottom; and the riverbank was lined with similar pebbles, along which Lin Tian and group ran effortlessly over the slippery stones.
Wang Mingyan noted that Lin Tian was not only keeping pace but appeared calm and composed, once again amazed. Damn, this guy has depths you can’t discern, he thought.
As for Ghost, of course, he had no issues; he was most familiar with jungle warfare. During his mercenary days, running through jungles was routine. These slippery stones posed no challenge to him.
After progressing along the riverbank for a while, Lin Tian noticed the river gradually broadening. Eventually, it became twice the width of its lower stream.
Ultimately, the river transformed into a large lake, hidden amongst the mountains. This place was largely untouched by humans, yet its landscape was picturesque.
Due to the lake’s vastness, traces of river currents were barely visible, nearly imperceptible. Wang Wanxi and Wang Mingyan stopped at the lakeside.
"Is Mr. Wang here?" Lin Tian asked curiously. He had assumed Yun Xiaotian’s grandfather would be in some Immortal’s cave cultivating, not by this beautiful lakeside.
Wang Mingyan pointed to the opposite bank. Lin Tian looked up and noticed someone sitting by the opposite shore. Even though the lake was wide, Lin Tian’s eyesight was sharp; he saw an old man with graying hair in a green robe, sitting with closed eyes.
The elderly man sat cross-legged by the lake, a large stone beneath him, unaware of its discomfort.
The old man was serene, seemingly one with his surroundings, which was why Lin Tian hadn’t noticed anyone on the opposite side earlier—the elder’s meditative state exemplified Unity of Heaven and Man.
"Let’s wait; Father’s meditating," Wang Wanxi softly advised, mindful not to disturb the elder.
Her words reaffirmed a fact—that this man was Yun Xiaotian’s grandfather, who once stirred up a storm in the Yun Family for the missing Yun Tian, creating havoc in Japan. Yet this tranquil scene depicted an elder who was unexpected—a hot-tempered old man.
"Lin Tian, look over there," Wang Mingyan suddenly raised his hand to point across the lake.
Lin Tian gazed over and saw two white boundary lines. What’s that? He paused, then looked closer—turns out, it’s the river’s inlets, two of them, indicating two rivers converging here.
