Chapter 1397: Chapter 1394: The Second Nighttime Conversation on the Mountaintop

Lin Tian glanced sideways at Yun Xiaotian. The beautiful and fair face made Lin Tian’s heart skip a beat. He quickly coughed twice to stop himself from thinking further: "Cough cough, okay, let’s go." 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

Having said that, he walked ahead first. Yun Xiaotian watched Lin Tian’s somewhat hurriedly retreating figure, a strange expression flashing across his face.

Lin Tian was already familiar with the location of Yunxiang Inn, and soon arrived outside the courtyard. The gate was open, and through it, Lin Tian saw a familiar figure busy in the garden.

"Miss Xiao Ru, long time no see." Lin Tian recognized the pretty silhouette inside as An Xiaoru and couldn’t help shouting.

An Xiaoru heard the voice, turned around somewhat curiously, looked up, and then saw Lin Tian outside the door, exclaimed "Ah," and covered her mouth. Her big eyes revealed surprise and disbelief.

"What’s wrong? Am I that scary?" Lin Tian smiled slightly.

An Xiaoru lowered her hand and quickly shook her head. Her pretty face showed embarrassment and a shy blush: "No... it’s not that. Young Master Yun arranged for me to tidy up Yunxiang Inn, but I didn’t expect Mr. Lin to be occupying it."

Lin Tian turned to glance at Yun Xiaotian and smiled: "You didn’t tell Xiao Ru it was me coming?"

"No, I just wanted to give her a surprise. During the time you were gone, someone almost came down with lovesickness." Yun Xiaotian looked at An Xiaoru, teasingly, the person afflicted with lovesickness was obvious.

"Young Master Yun, don’t talk nonsense, I didn’t... I didn’t." An Xiaoru’s face turned crimson as she repeatedly waved her hands in denial, yet she appeared so shy and guilty that it was unconvincing to anyone.

Not knowing how to respond to the girl’s feelings, Lin Tian could only rub his brow and smile: "No need for Miss Xiao Ru to busy yourself anymore. It’s already dark, and any more busying around and I’d suspect Xiao Tian of mistreating employees."

Yun Xiaotian smiled apologetically and said, "Let’s do as Brother Lin said, or else he might blame me."

An Xiaoru nodded obediently, then turned and walked back to the Yunxiang Inn living room. By the time Lin Tian and Yun Xiaotian were seated, she had already brewed the tea.

"Brother Lin, how long will you be staying in Jinghua City this time? Should I inform Sister Luoxi? After you left last time, I noticed she seemed a bit down." Yun Xiaotian inquired, and An Xiaoru glanced at Lin Tian, seemingly awaiting his answer.

Lin Tian thought for a moment and said, "No need to inform her for now. My stay in Jinghua City won’t be long, and I might leave anytime. Maybe tomorrow, maybe the day after."

An Xiaoru paused as she poured the tea, spilling the warm liquid outside the cup. She snapped back to reality and hurriedly went to wipe it up. Lin Tian quickly held her hand: "Careful not to burn yourself with the hot tea."

Looking at the steaming tea, An Xiaoru felt a bit frightened. Looking again at Lin Tian’s hand holding hers, her face turned red, and she withdrew her hand nervously, apologizing, "I’m sorry, I clumsily spilled the tea." She seemed on the verge of tears as she spoke.

"It’s alright, just be careful not to burn yourself." Lin Tian reassured her.

"I’ll go get a dry cloth." An Xiaoru said and quickly turned into the kitchen.

Yun Xiaotian looked at the kitchen, then at Lin Tian, and sighed softly: "Since ancient times, King Xiang dreams, while the Goddess is indifferent, but now it’s the other way around; truly ’falling flowers yearn for love, but the heartless brook ripples on.’

"Why are you reciting poetry at night?" Lin Tian pretended to be confused.

"Brother Lin knows what I’m talking about," Yun Xiaotian said, staring into Lin Tian’s eyes.

"You’re just sixteen, still a kid, what do you understand?" Lin Tian smiled helplessly.

Just as Yun Xiaotian was about to say something more, An Xiaoru came out with a dry cloth. Seeing this, he didn’t say anything further. Lin Tian noticed that when An Xiaoru came out, her eyes were slightly red, as if she had been crying.

Watching An Xiaoru lean over to clean the tea table, Lin Tian sighed quietly but said nothing. Thus, An Xiaoru helped serve tea and snacks, while Lin Tian and Yun Xiaotian chatted about everything under the sky. Yun Xiaotian listened intently to all that Lin Tian shared about his experiences.

Around nine o’clock at night, Yun Xiaotian finally left Yunxiang Inn. An Xiaoru asked, "Mr. Lin, would you like me to prepare the bathwater for you?"

Lin Tian turned and looked at An Xiaoru, causing the young girl’s face to flush slightly. He smiled and said, "Let’s wait a bit longer; I have some things to handle first."

"Alright." An Xiaoru nodded obediently but did not ask what Lin Tian needed to do.

Lin Tian got up and went to the bedroom, locked the room from inside, but then turned to the window and jumped out through the back window.

He walked along the Yun Family’s small paths under cover of night. Though seemingly casual, his speed was incredibly fast, evading all the guards within the Yun Family.

He stopped in front of a villa, standing behind a large tree, surveying the plaque outside the courtyard, which read "Yuntian Residence," the abode of Wang Wanxi and Yun Haoyu.

As expected, Lin Tian saw that the study on the second floor was still lit. A graceful silhouette could be seen against the study window, holding a book, intently reading.

Since the last conversation on the mountain peak at night, Lin Tian knew Wang Wanxi had a habit of reading at night. It was now close to ten o’clock, and she was still burning the midnight oil.

The night wind blew, lifting the curtain and revealing the study behind it. In an instant, Lin Tian’s five fingers gripped, peeling a piece of bark from the tree trunk, and swiftly threw it.

The piece of bark slipped through the gap in the curtain, hitting the bookcase with a slap. Wang Wanxi, who was reading inside the study, suddenly heard the sound, stood up, picked up the bark from the ground, and slightly furrowed her brow.

As if recalling something, her heart stirred, and she turned towards the window, seeing a figure darting out from behind the tree, heading towards the mountain.

"Xiao Tian, it really is you." Wang Wanxi revealed a faint smile, whispering to herself. Then, with a leap, she jumped out of the window, lightly landing on the ground. Her white dress fluttered in the night, like a fairy descending to earth.

Wang Wanxi nimbly bounded forward, heading towards the mountain. At first, she gave it her all, fully accelerating to catch up with the shadow ahead, but the farther she accelerated, the farther away the shadow got. Within a few breaths, it was out of sight.

Helplessly smiling to herself, she didn’t stop. When she reached the mountain top, Lin Tian was already there, smiling at her.

Wang Wanxi flicked her wrist, the bark swiftly flying towards Lin Tian like a bullet. Lin Tian reached out with a motion, accurately catching the bark, leaving it unscathed.

"Xiao Tian, your growth is surprising; the speed increase and use of strength have reached a higher level." Wang Wanxi appraised Lin Tian, exclaiming.
