Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 97: Confrontation
When Vincent was about to leave, he called Dr. Lawson over to give May Morgan a check-up and to counsel her.
After Dr. Lawson arrived, he first examined May Morgan and, seeing that she seemed to have recovered, didn’t prescribe any medicine. He only advised her to take care of her body and to avoid certain foods during meals.
May Morgan asked Dr. Lawson some basic questions about pregnancy first, and finally, when asking about the four-dimensional scan, Dr. Lawson told her that to know if the child is healthy, it’s best to wait until at least 24 to 28 weeks, when the accuracy is higher.
May Morgan quietly calculated and realized that at 24 weeks, it would be over five months. If problems were found then, wouldn’t terminating the pregnancy be especially painful?
She nervously asked Dr. Lawson again, "If the child is already so big and something’s wrong, wouldn’t terminating the pregnancy be too much? Wouldn’t it be harmful to me?"
Dr. Lawson adjusted his glasses, looked at May Morgan, and kindly advised her, "Don’t worry, Mrs. Morgan. Generally, such problems don’t occur. Both you and Young Master Vance are healthy and have no family history of diseases. How could there be a deformed child?"
May Morgan, nervously clenching her fingers, felt uneasy but couldn’t express it. Vincent might be fine, but she had her concerns. With her frail body, who knows what might happen?
"What if there is, I mean, what if there’s a problem with the baby, will it be too painful to terminate it?"
"It will definitely be painful. At such an advanced stage, it would be almost like giving birth. But this is all just a one in ten thousand chance. Besides, babies usually inherit more from the mother, and since you’re healthy, as long as you watch your diet and avoid radiation, it should be fine."
Inheriting more from the mother? Does that mean she could likely make the baby a freak?
After seeing off Dr. Lawson, May Morgan felt even more uneasy. She clasped her fingers, recalling that day in the basement when Melanie Morgan cut her, yet she recovered immediately. The more she thought about it, the more it filled her with dread.
Upon seeing the fruit knife on the coffee table, she hurriedly grabbed it and cut her finger. Blood instantly trickled from her fingertip.
"Oh dear, ma’am, what are you doing?"
The passing maid saw May Morgan cutting herself and hurried over, shocked, to check her injury.
Seeing her finger bleed profusely, the maid quickly fetched the first aid kit from a nearby cabinet. But when she returned, she found no trace of a wound on May Morgan’s finger.
The maid thought she was mistaken, hurriedly put down the first aid kit, and tried to examine May Morgan’s finger closely, but May Morgan swiftly drew her hand back.
"I’m fine, it’s not even broken, why are you shouting," May Morgan said, quickly retracting her finger and standing up from the sofa, intending to go back to her bedroom.
The healing speed of the wound was almost astonishing. May Morgan saw this clearly, and it frightened her. She feared others would see her this way and think of her as a monster. She was even more afraid that the maid would inform Vincent about her strange body. So now, she just wanted to hide herself away.
But just as she stood up from the sofa, outside the villa, Maxwell Vance’s voice was heard, shouting at the guards at the door.
"What are you doing? Even blocking me?" Maxwell Vance shouted at the guards after being stopped at the door, somewhat indignant.
"Sorry, Miss Vance. The Young Master instructed that without his permission, no one can enter Zenith Villa," a nearby guard politely but coldly told Maxwell Vance.
Maxwell Vance, furious, shouted loudly at those blind-eyed guards, "Are you blind? Look at who I am. Am I considered an outsider?"
Those around looked at each other, unsure of what to do for a moment.
One of them stepped forward and suggested to Maxwell Vance, "How about this, Miss Vance. I’ll go and ask Mrs. Morgan for her opinion. If she agrees, you can come in?"
Hearing this, Maxwell Vance grew even more furious. She shoved away the man blocking her and walked in angrily.
"Are you out of your minds? This is my brother’s house. When did I need her permission to come in?"
Because she’s Vincent’s own sister, the guards dared not use force. So, after a brief attempt to stop her, Maxwell Vance walked in.
At that moment, May Morgan was watching TV in the living room. She heard every word Maxwell said at the door. Currently pregnant, she didn’t want to confront anyone, but she found Maxwell Vance too unruly to engage, so she acted as if Maxwell were invisible, not even glancing at her.
Maxwell Vance plopped down on the sofa opposite May Morgan, and her first words were sharp, "You’re really living it up."
May Morgan, at a loss for words, chuckled, turned her head to glance at Maxwell, and asked, "Which eye of yours saw me living it up?"
When I was kidnapped, when my blood was being drained, you, Miss Vance, saw none of it. But now you have time to come here and criticize her?
Maxwell glared angrily at May Morgan and snorted, "Here you are with good food and drink watching TV, yet poor Adam Owens is in the hospital not eating or drinking for days."
When May Morgan heard that Adam hadn’t eaten or drunk anything for days, her heart skipped a beat. She quickly sat up straight and looked at Maxwell, asking, "What happened to him?"
Maxwell gave her a venomous glare and gritted her teeth, "It’s all because of you. After you visited him at the hospital last time, he refused to eat. It’s been days now; the doctors said his life could be at risk if he doesn’t start eating."
May Morgan scratched her head in confusion, thinking this shouldn’t be the case. The last time she saw Adam Owens, he did seem a bit reluctant for her to leave, but she didn’t notice any extreme behavior when she departed. How did he suddenly go without food or drink?
May Morgan narrowed her eyes, staring at Maxwell’s face as she questioned her, "Did you upset him, and now he’s throwing a tantrum with you?"
Faced with May Morgan’s questioning, a trace of panic appeared on Maxwell’s face. She coughed awkwardly, quickly turning her face away, and her tone became less arrogant. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
"No way did I upset him. I’ve been tending to him diligently. Why would I upset him?"
"Really?" May Morgan chuckled, continuing to listen to Maxwell’s questioning her, "There’s something I’ve always wanted to ask you. Since you’re here today, let’s be frank, shall we?"
Maxwell hesitated, looking up at May Morgan with a slightly uncertain face, "What do you want to ask?"
"Do you know why I went to the hospital to see Adam Owens last time?" May Morgan took a deep breath, her voice turning colder.
