Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 453: Returning to Save Victor Grant
Mr. Drake noticed that Vincent Vance’s attitude had become much more respectful, and he finally nodded in satisfaction. He turned to look at the sky outside, then said to Vincent and the others, "Let’s set off at dawn. If we’re fortunate, we might find it within a day."
That soon?
Vincent’s eyes lit up upon hearing this. He hurriedly thanked him again and moved to pull May Morgan into the house to prepare for the journey up the mountain.
He tugged May slightly but noticed she hadn’t moved. Confused, he glanced at May only to realize she’d been staring fixedly at Mr. Drake’s face the entire time.
"May, what’s wrong?" Vincent felt it was impolite for her to keep staring and quietly reminded her.
May snapped back to reality upon hearing Vincent’s call and glanced at him. By then, Mr. Drake had already stepped out. After casting a quick look at Vincent, she turned once more to watch Mr. Drake’s departing silhouette.
Vincent sensed that something was off with May’s expression and couldn’t help but ask again, "What’s up with you? Why are you staring at Mr. Drake? Is something wrong with him?"
May looked up at Vincent, then bowed her head in thought, and shook her head saying, "It’s nothing. I’m just a bit tired."
Vincent noticed she did look quite weary, so he quickly cradled her back to the bedroom to rest: "Since you’re tired, it’s okay if we delay going up the mountain."
May remained silent, merely lowering her head pensively. Seeing her state was concerning, Vincent sat beside her, earnestly asking, "May, please tell me, do you have something on your mind?"
May hesitated for a while before looking up at Vincent and asking, "I haven’t asked you yet, how’s Victor Grant doing now?"
Vincent disliked hearing May talk about Victor Grant, so he casually brushed her off, "He’s fine, doing well."
May stared at Vincent’s evasive gaze and pursued, "How well is ’well’? Is his wound okay now? I remember he was seriously injured back then, struck on the back by that old woman while saving me, bleeding all over."
Vincent noticed the guilt in May’s eyes when mentioning Victor, and he took her hand, seriously saying, "May, let’s leave other things aside for now. You’re also in a precarious situation; let’s focus on ourselves first, okay?"
May discerned the underlying message that Victor’s condition wasn’t optimistic, and recalling his selfless act of saving her, she suddenly felt a pang in her heart.
Even though she didn’t like Victor, she couldn’t forget the gratitude she owed him.
"Give me your phone; I want to call Victor Grant, check on him."
May’s nose tingled, holding back tears, fearing Vincent would get upset if he saw her cry. But she felt uneasy without knowing about Victor’s condition, so she asked Vincent for the phone.
Vincent hesitated for a moment and didn’t give it to her: "He’s currently unconscious; if you call, he won’t hear you."
What? Unconscious?
May became anxious upon hearing that: "Then give me the phone; I’ll call Aunt Jennings."
The Grant family was already in chaos, with Uncle Grant’s life uncertain, and Aunt Jennings also hospitalized. If Victor was unconscious now, wouldn’t the whole Grant family be in turmoil?
Vincent frowned, about to refuse, but May suddenly sternly told him, "Vincent, don’t make me an ungrateful woman, okay?"
"Alright..." Vincent understood May’s character very well, knowing that giving the phone would certainly stir her emotions. But if he didn’t give it to her, she wouldn’t relent.
As Vincent handed his phone to May, he worriedly asked her, "May, you won’t go back to Victor Grant’s side, right?"
May looked at him conflicted, took the phone, and sincerely replied, "If Victor is really unconscious, I must go back to take care of him. It’s the responsibility I have as a wife."
Vincent grasped his fingers, stubbornly stating, "I will not allow you to go back to him."
May glanced up at Vincent, wanting to say something, but as the call connected, she swallowed her words.
"Aunt Jennings, it’s me, May Morgan!" May quickly spoke as she reached Heather Holt by phone.
Heather was startled to hear May’s voice, hesitated, then asked, "May, you’re awake? Where are you now?"
May considered telling Heather she was in Crestwood but changed her mind, lying instead, "I’m still in the hospital, just transferred."
"Oh, how’s your health? I heard from Vincent that you weren’t well, that something’s inside your body, right?"
Heather couldn’t explain clearly. At that time, she knew May’s condition was perilous, that doctors were helpless. She couldn’t watch May die hopelessly, and her son was also unconscious, hence allowing Vincent to take her.
Rather than keeping her as a daughter-in-law in danger, Heather hoped May could live well.
May was moved by Heather’s concern and support despite the chaos she’d caused. Her nose already tingled, and she couldn’t hold back her tears, "Aunt, I’m sorry. It’s my fault that the Grant family is like this now."
"Don’t say that. Our Victor is also at fault. If he hadn’t insisted on collaborating with Logan Vance, causing so many problems, he wouldn’t be in this state. All of this, he deserves; no one else can be blamed."
Though Heather blamed Victor, her heart ached for her son. Glancing at the still unconscious, helpless Victor, she let out a long sigh.
May felt even more saddened by Heather’s sigh and couldn’t help asking, "Aunt, what’s Victor’s situation now? Has he not woken up yet?"
Heather truthfully responded, "No, not yet. He’s been in a coma for five days now, doctors are powerless, all indicators are fine, blood has been replenished, but he just doesn’t wake up. I’m at my wit’s end."
Thinking of the current predicament, Heather shared her sorrows with May, "Your Uncle Grant’s fate is hanging, Victor turned out like this; the Grant family is at the edge of falling apart..."
"Aunt, don’t worry, I’ll return to help you find a solution!" Moved by Heather’s words, May impulsively promised to return to her side. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
Listening in, Vincent’s expression turned cold, and he quickly snatched May’s phone, ending the call.
