Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 273: He’s Really Ruthless
"That’s right, I have hands and feet, why must I rely on a man to support me?" May Morgan smiled at Miller and turned to walk downstairs. Miller was stunned for a moment before hurriedly following her and whispered a warning: "Miss Morgan, make sure you think it through, once you’re gone, this kind of life will be over for us."
May glanced apologetically at Miller, understanding that securing this job wasn’t easy for her. But she couldn’t keep bothering Victor Grant because of her own situation, could she?
"Miller, I know after I leave, you won’t have a reason to stay here anymore, and I’m really sorry for that. However, when I go, I’ll plead with Victor Grant to keep you around so you can continue to work peacefully. I’m sure he’ll consider my request and leave you this job," May said apologetically to Miller.
Miller wasn’t distressed about the job with a monthly salary of over ten thousand; she was worried about May. Why would she leave such a leisurely life to embrace hardships outside? Was this girl crazy?
"May, Mr. Grant didn’t say he was forcing you to marry him, why do you need to leave? So many dangers await outside, what can a young girl like you do?" Miller couldn’t help but advise May earnestly again.
May, however, merely smiled indifferently, reached for a spoon on the table, and in front of Miller, bent it using only two fingers, leaving Miller dumbfounded for quite a while.
"Miss Morgan, you’re so strong..." Miller exclaimed in surprise, her eyes wide open, unable to stop praising May.
Previously, May had smashed a table in front of everyone, shocking Maxwell Vance. Miller had been present too, but she always thought May had used some kind of magic trick, yet unexpectedly, May’s innate Divine Power was real.
"That’s nothing. I can also break bricks with one hand, do you believe it?" May tossed the bent spoon on the ground and pat Miller’s shoulder with undeniable strength.
The Yellow Lip Fish Jelly is indeed great stuff. After eating a box, May felt her strength was several times greater. Others need a month in bed after a miscarriage, but she could walk in just a few days, recovering marvelously, even more powerful than before.
Miller smiled tremulously at May, not knowing what to say for a moment. When she saw May heading to the storage room and retrieving various documents from her suitcase, Miller awkwardly advised: "Even with all that strength, you may not find a good job. Are you planning to haul sandbags at a construction site?"
"Of course not! I could perform street acts, like smashing stones on my chest," May joked with Miller.
She took out all sorts of documents from her suitcase, checked them one by one, and then pulled out the leave of absence papers that Vincent Vance had arranged for her.
The papers, arranged by Vincent, stated a year-long leave, with plans to resume university courses afterward. But she’d only been away for over three months; would she be criticized by the principal if she returned now?
The crucial part was, Vincent arranged the leave initially. Would the principal consent if she chose to return without Vincent’s approval?
If she didn’t continue her studies, she’d only have a high school diploma. In today’s society, even college graduates struggle to find suitable jobs. What could she possibly find with merely a high school education? Likely, even the construction site might reject her for fear she’d have an accident and demand compensation.
Feeling irritable, May brought the hefty stack of documents from the storage room to her bedroom to ponder. Ultimately, she decided to call the school and test the waters.
Education was imperative; she knew her situation. Without going to school and graduating, she’d have no future.
Still, whether the school would allow her to return was another question.
May first called her school mentor, exchanged pleasantries, and mentioned her plan to resume her studies. The mentor regretted her sudden leave since May had decent grades, so they gladly agreed to inquire further. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
After ending the call with May, the mentor explained her situation to the principal. Given May and Vincent’s special relationship, everyone knew Vincent’s approval was essential. Since it was a significant matter, the principal personally called Jacob Jennings, detailing May’s request to return to school.
Jacob dared not promise anything, telling the principal to discuss with Vincent first, but insisted that without Vincent’s consent, May must not be allowed to return to school.
Vincent’s aim for the divorce was to hasten May’s departure, enabling him to proceed with his plans. If May resumed her studies, how could she leave? How would Vincent’s plans unfold?
Jacob couldn’t afford delays, fearing Victor’s involvement would complicate the matter. Hence, he immediately called Vincent to relay May’s intention to return to school.
Vincent naturally would not consent to May attending school again, but he was puzzled about how to ensure May decisively left Silverwood City with Victor.
After contemplating, he settled on his final move.
"Jacob, is the replica diamond ring ready?" Vincent asked Jacob after he had a plan.
"Yes, it’s ready, made by the most renowned craftsman. I’ve inspected it; it can almost be mistaken for the real thing."
"Good, does the ring contain the mechanism as I requested?" Vincent nodded in satisfaction before asking.
Jacob responded honestly: "Yes, it’s crafted per your specifications. But, Young Master, what’s the purpose of such a ring?"
Recalling Brianna White’s greedy gaze on the Star of Extreme Night last night, Vincent’s lips curved into a cold smile: "It’ll have significant use."
May waited and waited but didn’t receive any news from her mentor; instead, she got a call from Vincent.
"Do you have time today?" Vincent’s voice was cold, devoid of any warmth.
May pursed her lips, forcing herself to remain calm: "Is there something you need?"
"Yes, since the divorce agreement is signed, bring your ID and household registration, and meet me at the Civil Affairs Bureau to finalize the divorce procedures."
