Chapter 234: Chapter 234: A Double-Standard Man

Last night, she impulsively wrote that divorce agreement demanding nothing, but at that time she didn’t hate Vincent as much, so leaving with nothing didn’t seem too disappointing. But now, she feels this divorce agreement is quite foolish.

Vincent no longer loves her; he doesn’t even have the slightest pity for her. Why should she show him mercy? What she deserves, what he owes, she won’t let him have any less.

Thinking of this, May decisively tore the divorce agreement in her hand to shreds and threw it into the trash. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

She’s not that foolish; even if she’s really going to leave, she definitely won’t make it so easy for Vincent.

After lying on the bed for the entire afternoon, it wasn’t until evening that Vincent opened the door and came in. May heard the noise at the door and guessed Vincent had returned, so she deliberately held the quilt and pretended to be asleep.

Vincent first stood in a daze at May’s bedside, seeing that her sleep seemed peaceful. This time, he took off his clothes and turned into the bathroom for a shower.

While he was in the shower, May struggled to get up, then took his phone to check his texts or WeChat messages. But Vincent was very cautious, and there wasn’t a single suspicious message.

Thinking for a moment, May used Vincent’s phone to send a message to Maxwell, purposely speaking in Vincent’s tone: ’Your sister-in-law’s emotions have stabilized a bit. During this period, without my orders, don’t come to Zenith Villa. I’m afraid your sister-in-law will find trouble with you if she sees you.’

Once the message was sent, Maxwell soon replied: "Bro, May lost her child and you’re still with her? I say, just divorce her."

Seeing Maxwell instigating so matter-of-factly, May realized this woman hadn’t changed a bit and hadn’t recognized her wrongdoing at all.

"I still love your sister-in-law; you wouldn’t understand that. Don’t say anything about the drug incident, or Adam won’t let you off."

"Don’t worry, bro. Since you sorted it out for me, I won’t mention it. But if Adam asks, you have to back me up."

So it’s her!

To secure concrete evidence, May quickly lured Maxwell further: ’When Adam asks, I will certainly stand up for you. However, the drug was given to you to make the maid do it... it’s hard to cover that up.’

"Haven’t you already fired that maid? If necessary, I’ll give her some money to keep her quiet, don’t worry. Right now, I’m only worried about Adam; I’m afraid he’ll leave me if he finds out."

Seeing Maxwell’s words, May couldn’t help but sneer, thinking to herself, you’re so malicious, I’ll make you taste pain more than being dumped by a man you love a hundred times over.

"Don’t worry, just treat Adam well. Heart for heart, eventually, he’ll be good to you."

Fearing that Vincent would catch her with his phone after he finished showering, May quickly brushed off Maxwell with a few casual remarks, then screenshot the conversation between Vincent and Maxwell, sending it to Adam’s phone and also saving a copy on her own.

After doing all this, May did not immediately delete the conversation with Maxwell but held Vincent’s phone, lying on the bed, quietly waiting for him to finish his shower.

More than half an hour later, Vincent came out of the shower, only to find May leaning against the headboard, looking at him with a strange expression.

"You’re... awake?" Vincent felt uneasy under May’s indescribably creepy gaze and asked casually.

When he got closer to May’s bed, Vincent realized what she was holding was his phone.

In that instant, Vincent seemed to realize something.

"What are you doing with my phone?" Vincent awkwardly smiled, reaching for the phone in May’s grasp. But May held it tight, no matter how he tried, he couldn’t pull it away.

"I have something to show you." A cold smile brushed May’s lips as she unlocked Vincent’s phone and brought up the entire conversation with Maxwell to show Vincent.

Vincent’s face turned dark immediately. He never expected May to pull something like this on him. Now caught red-handed, what could he even say in his defense?

"What’s your take on this?" May shook the phone in her hand, questioning Vincent.

Knowing there was no way to avoid this, Vincent coldly told May, "I said I would give you an explanation, why take matters into your own hands?"

"Because I don’t trust you, because now I feel like I’m worthless in your eyes!" May bit her lip, forcing herself to stay strong as she confronted Vincent, ’Vincent, Maxwell just said it herself, you fired the maid who was responsible for bringing me meals just to cover up her crime. Is that all it took to resolve such a grave matter.’

"What do you want me to do then?" Vincent exhaled with helplessness, speaking in a faint tone, ’The child is gone, what more do you want from me?’

"What do I want? I want you to give our child an explanation. I want you to realize our child was a life, not something to discard at will." May, though in pain and weak, forced herself to stand up from the bed bit by bit.

Looking up at Vincent, the man who was once dear to her and now had abandoned her like yesterday’s trash, her heart felt utterly hollowed out.

They say the one thing a woman shouldn’t believe is the sweet nothings during times of passion, and the most telling is his attitude during a crisis.

Now, May could finally see the heart of the man in front of her.

"I’m sorry, Maxwell did wrong, it’s my fault for not guiding her. But she’s pregnant now too. What do you want me to do? Beat her? Punish her? What if it costs her child too? Our child is already gone; we can’t let another innocent child suffer because of this, can we?" Vincent bent in agony, holding May’s arm, earnestly pleading.

"Maxwell’s child’s life is precious, but ours is like grass, is it? Is it that your sister is the only blood-related family, and in your eyes, the child a woman bears for you is only worth a sperm donation? Anyone can bear your child, and all children are equal regardless of who bore them?"

May looked at Vincent with utter despair, forcing her tears not to fall. Crying in front of a man who didn’t love her, she thought herself foolish.

"How can you say that? You are my wife, I never intended for another woman to bear my child, do you really think I don’t care for that child? But he’s gone now, constantly dwelling on it serves no purpose, does it?"
