Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 226: So You Really Are a Family
May Morgan secretly sneered to herself, just about to turn and leave, when Maxwell Vance suddenly reached out and called her name. As May turned her head, Maxwell swung his hand sharply, and had May not reacted quickly, this slap might very well have landed on her face.
May Morgan grabbed Maxwell Vance’s wrist, coldly questioning her, "Are you crazy?"
"It’s all because of you, you jinx. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have embarrassed myself so much today. You deserve it!" Maxwell, in a fit of her bratty temper, said cruel words without any care.
May originally didn’t want to escalate things, but she couldn’t stand Maxwell provoking her time and again. With her fiery temper, she truly couldn’t hold back anymore.
May turned her head to look at Vincent Vance, then at Adam Owens, sneered while returning Maxwell’s wrist, cursing maliciously, "I heard that marriages encountering problems at weddings often don’t last long. I hope you and Adam grow old together and have lots of children and happiness."
That phrase "grow old together and have lots of children and happiness" was practically said through gritted teeth by May Morgan, her tone rather unpleasant, like a reverse curse, causing those around to gasp audibly.
"Why are you cursing me? When you married my brother, you weren’t any better than me!" Maxwell Vance angrily retaliated against May.
"Yes, Vincent and I didn’t even have a wedding, so are you, as a sister, deliberately cursing your brother’s marriage to be unfortunate and childless?"
May’s mention of ’childless’ suddenly touched a hidden point within Vincent Vance, making his face turn cold as he reached out and grabbed May’s wrist, roughly leading her out of the venue.
All those present saw Vincent’s anger, not daring to breathe until Vincent and May completely disappeared from the wedding venue, at which point Audrey Vance finally remembered to arrange for Maxwell to change clothes.
On such a joyous day, things turned so messy, Maxwell naturally felt aggrieved, standing on stage crying, not uttering a word despite others’ consolations.
Audrey Vance, helpless, pinched Adam Owens standing nearby, who hadn’t said a word, hinting for him to go and comfort Maxwell.
In truth, from when Maxwell picked a fight with May without reason and splashed juice on her, Adam Owens had already developed quite a strong negative opinion of Maxwell.
Now, with Audrey indicating for Adam to comfort Maxwell, Adam’s anger rose quickly, not only refusing to go, but turning around to leave in fury.
"She brought it upon herself, serves her right!" Adam Owen uttered harshly, turning and leaving, leaving Maxwell alone on stage to perform a solo act.
Everyone glanced at one another, unsure of what to say for a moment, while some who enjoyed meddling began to gossip behind their backs.
Though the mocking voices were small, they distinctly entered Maxwell’s ears. The long-awaited wedding she had hoped for was ruined by that wretched May, now she was like a stray dog abandoned by the roadside, looking terribly disheveled, with none of the grace of a bride.
May, it’s all your fault. I, Maxwell Vance, swear to make you pay.
Seeing Maxwell’s gritting expression, Audrey Vance felt particularly distressed, fearing Maxwell would overthink things, she quickly instructed those around to take Maxwell down to change clothes.
However, those servants couldn’t persuade Maxwell, stubborn as ever, insisting on Adam Owens coming personally to take her away.
This was her wedding with Adam Owens, yet the groom abandoned her for another woman, how humiliating would this be if spoken about in the future? Maxwell obviously had her pride, without Adam’s return, she wouldn’t easily leave.
Seeing this situation, Logan Vance, who had been standing aside without speaking, suddenly stepped out, politely offering to Audrey and others, "Aunt, I’ll take Maxwell down."
Audrey Vance looked at Logan, considering he was Maxwell’s second brother, having him lead her down would be more respectable, and she nodded, giving detailed instructions, "Mitigate with Maxwell a lot once she’s down, today is her happy day after all." 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Logan Vance lightly smiled at Audrey, then walked over to Maxwell’s side. No one knew what he said to Maxwell, only knowing Maxwell, who insisted Adam Owens return to take her, surprisingly agreed to go down with Logan to rest.
Once Maxwell and Logan left, Audrey Vance and the others quickly mingled with nearby relatives and friends, and after the earlier disturbance, the wedding venue quickly returned to a lively state.
After leaving the Owens Family, Vincent’s expression remained extremely poor, May knowing he was angry with her, but inwardly, May was also upset, as it was clearly his sister who initiated the trouble, right? What’s with Vincent rationalizing the fault and unleashing all his anger on May?
Due to the suffocating silence in the car, Jacob Jennings felt oppressed and intentionally filled the gap with chatter by asking Vincent, "Young master, are we going to visit Melody White this afternoon?"
Vincent responded slowly, "Yes, I’ll go once May is dropped off at Zenith Villa."
Jacob thought for a moment and said to Vincent, "Heard from people at the bureau, Melody White has woken up but hasn’t uttered a word, I’m afraid she’s like Mason Morgan, perhaps feigning ignorance?"
"Feigning ignorance? If only she was truly silly, but the fear is she’s pretending," Vincent cracked a cold smile, suddenly glanced sideways at May, implying, "I hate it when people play tricks behind my back."
Hearing this, May immediately widened her eyes, unable to control her emotions as she looked at Vincent, "What do you mean? Are you suggesting I’ve been scheming behind your back? Vincent, you need evidence when you speak, what have I done? How can you accuse me like this?"
"Whether it’s a false accusation, you know it yourself!" Vincent did not intend to lose his temper, but Maxwell’s wedding was something she had anticipated all her life, and yet May’s petty nature ruined it. He didn’t want to settle the score with her, but he had to.
May herself felt aggrieved, come on, when she was splashed with juice without reason, Vincent didn’t stand up for her at all, now what? He was uncomfortable because his sister fell into the cake tower? Taking out his frustration on her, right? Fine. May assumed the little trick was taught excellently, impossible for anyone to detect, thus feeling justified in her stance.
"Vincent, I didn’t see you being so concerned when your sister splashed juice over me, now what? Feeling unsettled when she suddenly fell into the cake tower? You’re venting this on me, aren’t you? You. Fine!" May, confident that her little trick was executed very subtly, impossible for anyone to notice, hence her assertiveness.
